  1. I have a feeling we will see them both sign below market value. Why? Sakic does not want to go anywhere considering all the money he has made. It just has to be respectable. Rob Blake wants to stay in Colorado too which makes the job to resign him more streamlined with all people thinking alike. I have faith in Blake that he will be an Avalanche until he retires. This McCabe thing just smells for anyone resigning players. I like Bryan and think offensively he gives the Leafs an incredible punch from the blueline. What I do not like is how Montreal skated rings around him yet he is a #1 defenceman on the Leafs. I would really like to see that be proven. All said and done I have confidence in both Colorado and Montreal as they both have plans just in a different way. The Toronto plan confuses me, 1/4 of their payroll in two defenceman who are not TOP 10 in the league overall.
  2. I would like to note that with pitching not up to snuff, the Jays have managed to keep the division standings close. With A.J. injured so long it is good to see this is a good team that can challenge the big powerhouses. I think it was jetsniper on here that said Boston will win the division and he is probably right. Redsox are very good on defence and can hit the long ball. Biggest problem they have right now is those pesky Jays chipping away at their lead and pitching I really question. Jays are my favorite team.
  3. Sportsnet.ca - Sportsnet has learned that the Toronto Maple Leafs and defenceman Bryan McCabe are closing in on a new multi-year deal that will make McCabe the highest paid defenceman on the team. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...531_134945_4084 My 2 cents: $10 million between two not bad but not great defenceman, YIKES.
  4. I cannot believe you forgot Chris Drury. his playoff runs with the Avalanche were legendary. Plus he looks great on Buffalo as I think it gave him his seccond wind playing with young aggressive players. Yup there are some here that admire the Sabres and I hope they beat Carolina in that 7th game. Would love to see Buffalo take on Edmonton. I like many more players on Buffalo than the oil so I would be cheering for the Sabres.
  5. That would make my day and I would jump up and down so happy. (In my dreams, too old for that stuff) Already Chicago rumours about taking Aldridge to add to their front court if Toronto passes on him. Big difference for them as they miss this type of player when they traded Antonio Davis to New York.
  6. I do too, but as a Group III free agant as he can be a good hard working Centre that could help Montreal's impressive youth movement. I read on a link I believe you posted for free agents and his name is not mentioned. Meaning he missed the Group III cut by one year with his age. I am trying to verify this as different sources show different status, grrrr so confusing. No way I want to see Montreal trade the youth away just yet unless it is a superstar of some kind everyone wants.
  7. I tend to agree with you if this is true. 3 year $9mill would have been fine for unproven NBA talent. Glad to see other Rap fans around the board as I get a bit lost on Euro prospects. What do you think the Raptors will do with the 1st pick, trade take another PF or C/PF Aldridge? I think they might just trade down and look at Marcus Williams. So hard to tell the plan but losts of fun speculating.
  8. Telling people to people to shut the hell up is just not nice. It would reduce the boards post count. Montreal has a good nucleus of young roster players that should be able to score at a better clip than they did this year. A year makes a big difference and with the extended playing time I saw some improvement in offensive chances. I think on offense a guy like Chris Simon might fit on a third line. Not sure if he still has the wheels to keep up, however he is a tough guy around the net and can score. Montreal's offense requires a bulldog in front of the opposition net. Watching Koivu try to get in front of the net only to get well checked, tripped, hacked(High Sticked) is just not good for his health. What if a Sergie Samsonov is available next year. Would his speed and offensive punch be a good addition to the top two lines? I know he could certainly keep up with the current roster. No way he is going to get max. dollar which should be attractive.
  9. I was just reading about this on HoopsHype. He's actually an Experienced Centre which is NEEDED. I think the Euroflavor might just be increasing with the Raptors. Quick link of his team stats. http://www.basket-stats.info/euroleague/20...ms/benetton.htm
  10. Hey thanks for the link, this is excellent.
  11. Your comments as to how you describe Theo are very unprofessional and some may question your honesty. If you know the guy or have inside information that can not be brought forth, than I can respect that. But to slag someone that bad on a board and then try and hide behind some "Professional Code Of Honour" does not show credibility to many people and makes it impossible to prove your point. It is not a big deal to me as I would not want you to put your career in peril. I have enough faith in the other person to believe you are reperesenting yourself accurately, so I will trust you are telling the truth. And yes you are correct in his very first series as an Avalanche goalie, Theo was very very lucky and looked like the Montreal Theo. I think Huet at this point in time is a better goalie, but that is just my opinion.
  12. Happy Birthday!!!! :hlogo:
  13. Oh that does hurt. Jets are OK if they can ever get a Quarterback that is not injured or Old. I love NYJ/Dolphin games. I like that steal they got in the draft Tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson as he is the top offensive lineman at the draft table. A very rare opportunity and Kudos to the Jets for getting him.
  14. Well it looks like if a poll was taken on Habsworld.net Yashin is not an option for the Habs. Oh I would love to steal 2 first round picks out of the ISLE to take this guy; they are going to be pretty bad for a while. 2 more Staal brothers soon in the NHL, to have a shot at one of them would be excellent.
  15. OhOh. Do I sense a Calgary sensitivity issue? I think Canadian hockey fans know how crazy Calgary is for their hockey team. It think their cup year was a very LouD experience too. Seeing Lanny McDonald winning a cup in Calgary not Toronto, PRICELESS. Even though I was pulling for the Habs.
  16. Hey everbody has an evil twin right? I was hit in the head with a 'phins helmet when I was young and it brainwashed me. It's not all bad, Dan Marino........
  17. Thanks, that is what I was thinking. It has to be more or there is no way they can go after any big name players as they have guys to resign. Plus the ownership has to be enjoying profits instead of losses with the 24% clawback and playoff games. ------Update to original post---------- Just found on TSN: "The Canadiens have 10 players worth $23.242 million under contract for next season, assuming they pick up their option on energetic centre Steve Begin. Under contract for next season are forwards Bonk, Saku Koivu, Alex Kovalev, Tomas Plekanec and Richard Zednik and defencemen Craig Rivet, Sheldon Souray, Andrei Markov and Mathieu Dandenault." Source: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/news_story/?ID...e=nhl-canadiens If true than IF Montreal can spend to the limit they have ~$20million to play with. This makes more sense with the trade of Theo's big contract.
  18. I have the sense that you are 100% correct in your view on this subject. He is going to look for a max contract of roughly $7.8 million and a stupid team will make a sign and trade deal and pay. Plus turning down huge money thinking he is as good as Richards helps solidify your point. Gaborik, Done absolutely nothing to warrant that type of money. Richards, STANLEY CUP.
  19. You are correct in observing this, as it usually means a player has too much say in team makeup. Fortunately Chris Bosh said he only makes his views known but leaves the G.M. job to the G.M. After watching 82 games of HORRIBLE rebounding, he is right, Brian Colangelo agrees with him and the fans agree. Nothing to read in Chris Bosh's comments as the reason he will stay is Brian Colangelo. Latest rumour(smokescreen) is Toronto trades down to Portland's #4 spot for Jarrett Jack and Portlands #1 pick (Fourth overall). This means Aldridge and Tyrus Thomas are toast and Bargnani or Rudy Gay would fall to the Raptors. This would save the Raptors roughly $1.4million in cap space for the guaranteed first round contract. They should have $14mill to play with once Mike James is gone and a mid level exemption picked up in the Arron Williams trade. Picking up a free agent centre that can rebound and does not have to score much would be easier than trying to get someone to guard SHAQ. And they have money to extend Chris Bosh's max contract.
  20. Ricky is a Dicky as he ruined my Miami football team. He has no heart or desire to be anything but a holistic medicine man. He was scared to talk in public, always wearing a helmet in interviews and is on a different planet than the rest of us. This ensures that there will be turmoil in Toronto land and the Als will benefit nicely. So will Hamilton whom should not be taken lightly.
  21. Does anyone know what Montreals actual cap space is right now? And if it goes up say $4million league wide to say $43 million will the Habs go that high? I know they have quite a few people to resign like Huet, Begin, Bouillon, Streit etc. Just wondering what cap room would be left for a big name player. If there is not much left than a big name player is a moot point and the kids are going to have to be the go to guys. I just don't see how Dallas can have all those top players and extra guys and the Habs cannot get some of the big names in Montreal to fit the cap. (Colorado and Detroit too)
  22. Chris Bosh said that the Raptors do not need another Big Scorer, they need a big Rebounder. He is right. Rebounding and a little scoring is good from the next big man. I think there is smoke screens all set up and the Raptors will trade down, just a feeling. It seems sensible if they can get another team into thinking their guy won't be there at their selection spot. Crafty man that new GM.
  23. Oh now that was just nasty. There is good weed coast to coast I am told.
  24. I have to second this but not as strongly as Williams did this to 3 habs players in the series that I caught. (Might have been more) The other blatant high stick on Markov made me throw popcorn at the tube! No Penalty. How does one write to Gary (I will sell you a team) Bettman about a careless player? I hope Saku regains his sight and can continue his career.
