  1. Boy did we ever steal one there eh I'm kinda surprised by how Marc Denis has turned into a pretty mediocre goaltender. He used to be quite highly touted.
  2. Everybody knows Finns and Swedes don't mix. There's a big rivalry there... to say the least. Finns don't especially care for Russians too much either.
  3. Good point Cataclaw. I think you might might be right. Either that or Kovalev sooks when he's not on the #1 line.
  4. I like those lines, but I do really like Streit on that 4th line. He really brings some creativity to it. He and Downey could platoon depending on whether we need a goon that particular night or not. Murray? Salut Salaud.... Begin-Plekanec-Streit... that line could pop a few goals, I betcha.
  5. hehehe.... One other Borat fan here at least, I see.
  6. Well, if I was Carbo/Gainey, I know what I'd do: once Higgins is back playing, I'd immediately get Kovalev to go get his knee fixed so he's back at 100% and fresh for the stretch run/playoffs. He's just not the same player since that knee on knee hit he got some weeks ago. We need Kovalev at 100% to make a run deep into the playoffs. We'll get by without Kovy for 6 weeks... we did so when Higgins was out and we'll do it again.
  7. Not Milroy... he's just starting to come alive this year!
  8. Man, the goaltending depth in the Habs organization is unreal. I like!
  9. (I had this buried in the game thread from last night so I thought I'd lift it out and give it it's own thread and open it up for discussion if anyone cares to...) I think it's time for Bonk to have a shot at centering the 2nd line. This is *NOT* the same Bonk we saw last year. He's showing great generalship on the ice, nice stickhandling, hanging onto the puck well, and excellent work in the opposing zone down low. See him tonight when he had the puck behind the Florida net and about 3 Panthers couldn't get it away from him? I know I know - we don't want to break up that very good 3rd line... but I think Plekanec could hold down the fort on the 3rd nicely. You never know guys - this could be the big, strong 2nd line playmaking centre we've been looking for all this time... right under our noses.
  10. They are beautiful looking jerseys though... but yeah, the numbers are hard to make out.
  11. Another thought - I think it's time for Bonk to have a shot at centering the 2nd line. This is *NOT* the same Bonk we saw last year. 12. so where is that 'book' that the NHL is now supposed to have on Huet eh?
  13. Thanks very much Fury, looks like there's a few available! The cheaper ones, the "Greys"... anyone know what kinda seats they are? Is there a seating plan of the Bell centre somewhere? Thanks
  14. Hey fellers, any idea where a guy could get 2 tickets to this game? Me and my brother want to meet up in Montreal to catch it. I'm a big Habs fan (naturally) and am in Nova Scotia and my brother out in Toronto is a big Islanders fan (dropped on head as a child). Thanks! Canajun
  15. Yeah I know man, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Samsonov is completely ineffective right now.
  16. I know it's early, but I just don't feel Samsonov is a good fit on that line... at least not on the wing. The guy just doesn't shoot enough or dig in the corners like a winger ought to. He's a pretty good playmaker though - always looking for the pass first as opposed to the shot... and he likes to carry the puck. Why not move the guy to center and Plekanec over to the wing? I think it would work... couldn't be any worse. Of course, Samsonov is not the strongest defensively, but you'd still have Plekanec around to pick up the defensive slack. I think you'd have a line comparable (kind of) in skills/tendencies to Koivu's line: Ryder - the pure sniper, not so hot defensively Koivu - the playmaker, doesn't like to shoot, and again, not all that hot defensively Higgins - good digger, good shooter, good hockey sense, opportunistic, good defensively Kovalev - the pure sniper (but of course dangles a lot more than Ryder). Not much defensively Samsonov - the playmaker, doesn't like to shoot, not so hot defensively Plekanec - decent digger, good hockey sense, opportunistic, not afraid to shoot, good defensively Mind you, Higgins is stronger and more aggressive in the corners than Plekanec, a wee bit bigger than Plekanec, and a better shooter... but I think the two lines compare better when you switch Samsonov over to center. Do it Carbo!
  17. hey shortcat, this is not the Jimi Hendrix message board. Keep the love of drugs shit to yourself eh. There's a lot of young impressionable minds on this forum, smarten up. Dummy....
  18. Yeah I hear ya Bacchus... the Ribeiro-Ryder combination certainly didn't work earlier this year, but it did work back the season before. Wonder what happened there eh? I'm thinking Gainey might give it one more shot and see what happens - Higgins might be the spark that can get their chemistry back. If not, then I agree with you and put Plekanec on that line with Higgins and Ryder.
