  1. looks like there is a 4th liner on every line.
  2. I don[t get the line combos at all. Make ZERO sense!
  3. Part of the issue with the D was MT's decision to match markov, rather than subban against Crosby. With Malkin out, subban and markov should have been paired together.
  4. That was also a time when the ownership was unstable, the management weak and the cupboard bare, thanks to the Corey/houle years. To top it off the Canadian dollar was weak and most players didn't want to come to Montreal. It again was not a case of tanking, it was incompetence. Tanking organizations finish at the bottem (even than there are no guarantees - see CLB and the NYI), rudderless ones middle of the pack, where they squeak in or miss the playoffs (see TOR and CLG). Agreed, but I don't disagree with or fault Cammy for saying what he did - he was spot on.
  5. It was not tanking. It was stupidity, idiocy and incompetence. To say we tanked it is giving far too much credit to PG. the only other GM's who are as bad as PG today are Feaster and Sherman.
  6. Agree. Injuries played a huge role, but incompetence played a much larger role. Both in terms of the moves made, how they were made and the culture that the idiotic PG created.
  7. And by then Dougie Hamilton and Seguin may also be among the elite in the game.
  8. The habs did not tank it last year - their bottom 3 finish was the result of PG's incompetence. GM's of a tanking team would not have traded spacek for Kaberle, or cammy for pursue, a pick and Holland. Those guys would have been traded strictly for high picks and prospects. By the time AK46 and Gill were traded the habs were done.
  9. that was probably the worst game for Price this year. I didn't understand why Subban wasn't out there against Crosby - he has frustrated him in the past and it was obvious that Markov can't keep up with Crosby. with Malkin out, it would have made sense to pair Subban and Markov together and have Subban on Crosby.
  10. maxpac looks to be picking up from where he left off last year. MT needs to play Subban against Crosby. Markov has been beaten too many times by Crosby already.
  11. I like Stasny, but I don't like either contracts. I have no interest in Bouwmeester. The guy has NEVER been in the playoffs. EVER. He was on a losing junior team. Losing teamin Florida and is now on a disfunctional losing team in Calgary. He has surpassed Guy Charron as the longest anyone has been in the league without making it into the playoffs. Highly talented and skilled, but he is inconsistent and soft and has not been able to help make others around him better.
  12. how was grabs knocking Price down not a penalty???
  13. the penalty shot was a game saver. At some point the forwards need to start burying their chances.
  14. This goes to my point over the weekend, that for some reason the habs squander too many chances. It sucks to dominate and be tied.
  15. Definitely not! That would be entirely a language trade.
  16. Keep in mind that it has always taken Iginla at least a mint to get going. By the same logic, would you also not have wanted iginla at his peak on the Habs?
  17. I agree about the UFA risks. Also keep in mind that Anaheim was able to sign Neidermeyer for less than market, by giving him a chance to play with his brother and that Pronger was not a UFA signing. The got him because being forced into making a trade, Kevin Lowe made a horrible trade.
  18. Yes - according to Craig Button. But based on comments made by Button, I think he is full of it. There is just to much speculation by the media, which for those following the habs, should know that it is usually more BS then fact.
  19. I finally saw the interviews on Sportsnet. Didn't sound like Cole wanted out of Montreal, or that there were issues with teammates, although, just now on TSN, Button said there reports of issues with Subban. I really think that these kind of reports get overblown by the media. Sounded like a complete future salary cap flexibility move - that was how Cole said the deal was explained to him. I was leary about having Cole for two more years, but I'm more leary about having Gionta for two more years, given that I think Gionta has shown more decline than Cole. I hate giving up a power forward for Ryder who was good when he was scoring, but just flakey when he wasn't. I also find it hard to get past him signing with the evil Bruins. I can't see either of them being interested. I'm still pissed we didm't draft Getzlaf, but am leary of him now. Would LOVE to have Perry, but until a top UFA like Perry actually signs, I won't be holding my breath waiting.
  20. If they don't, I'm sure the RDS crowd will.
  21. I'm worried that we may lose Subban at some point because of MT.
  22. not a Ryder fan, so don't like the deal, other then the future cap flexibility it gives. Would have been overjoyed if Gionta was the one traded.
  23. Pleks sucks 1 on 1 and Gionta is as cold as ice. Don't know why MT went with them, with MaxPac and Eller available??? another inter-divisional loss This one they deserved to win.
