  1. horrible pass on the 2-1 shorthanded by Halpern
  2. what the hell is that parting of the red sea for Lucic???? I know its easter coming up but that's friggin ridiculous!!!
  3. well so much for hopig the PP was going to click and a penalty to the habs now
  4. this would be a good time to get the PP clicking
  5. I don't get why Desheranais is continuously being saddled with Pyatt. You may as well play Gomez with Pyatt and put Desheranis with someone who has some finish. The defense looks pretty sloppy again, the boys need to do a better job in their own end. damn sloppy play by Gomez line again
  6. Well I'm certainly hoping that AK46 gets more ice time this game.
  7. Yep, just found out the hard way - deleted the quote.
  8. Really hope Martin wakes up and doesn't waste Gionta with both Gomez AND Moen. Saddling GIonta with one of them is bad enough - both is just plain stupid.
  9. I really think he can become a 30goal, 60 point guy. I also think it would be a mistake to let him walk until at least seeing how effective MaxPac is when he comes back. IMO having a top 9 wingers of Cammi, Ak46, Gionta, MaxPac, Pouliot and Deshanrais (I really think Desharanis would be better suited as a winger) could be pretty solid. Next year, I'd really like to see the following up front: Cammy-Pleks-Ak46 MaxPac-GOMEZ REPLACEMENT-MaxPac Pouliot-Eller-Desharais White-BIG CENTRE-Pyatt/Darche I know looking at next year is kind of jumping the gun while we are still in the playoffs, but regardless of what happens, I really think we need to keep an eye on our needs next year and this year's playoffs only reinforce my thoughts of watching this team all year long. I any event, with game 5 under 24 hours away, its much less stressful to think about next year then tomorrow night I want the team to continue being built in the "speeed and style/Flying Frenchmen - although I guess it will have to be without the frenchmen ) mold, but just get a little big bigger up front, with a more productive 2nd line centre and a bigger, speedy shutdown centre who can actually win faceoffs. The change I'd i'd like to see is more team toughness - which doesn't mean I want a goon - I hated the Laraque signing and don't want the habs to get that kind of player, let the Bruins and Flyers take on those type of players. To me the model has always been and always will be the 70's habs. A team built on speed, solid D, great goaltending and a group that has team toughness that won't let anyone (i.e. Flyers) intimidate them. On D, I've already said, I'd like to see Markov, Gorges and Wiz back along with our new franchise cornerstone in Subban. If we round out those 4 with another solid big Dman who can clear the net (Bieksa would be sweet), weber and find a creative way to dump Spacek and his contract, I'll be very happy. All that would then be needed is a real goalie to backup Price. I think in two years, we should find out if Leblanc is going to be a top 6 NHL'er and in and in 3 years whether Tinordi is going to be as solid as his dad was.
  10. I think they have to qualify him and if they are you have to give him either another 1 year deal or get him to give up one of his UFA years if he is going to get any sort of increase. A two year deal that would make him a UFA does't make sense.
  11. I just don't see how he could even ask for a raise given the fact that he scored 4 less goals then last year in 25 MORE games. A $0.4M raise and a $1.35M salary for a guy who had 30 points seems ridiculous!! I can't even imagine going to my boss if after a bad year and asking or even expecting a raise. probably would be fired on the spot. I don't have any issues with top players getting big salaries and I think guys like Ovechkin and Crosby are underpaid relative to other sports, but its instances like this I hate the collective bargaining system, where a guy clearly deserves to take a pay cut, but because of his age, would even think about expecting a raise. I also doubt he would want to stay in Montreal. For a guy like him, it probably would be easier going to an environment where there wouldn't be much pressure or expectations. There are just too many players who are okay with living in a hot climate, weather or not there is a passion for the game. I can't get a over a guy like Shane Doan who was happy losing all those years in Phoenix, with no hope of success, rather then going somewhere that there would actually be a chance to winning something.
  12. Not talking so much about dumping guys - as i said during the year, I really don't are what kind of playoff Gomez has, I want him either moved or buried in the minors next year. What I do want the habs to do, is move him of the second line and let Gionta play with Desharnais and Eller. DD is much more defensively responsible then Gomez and I'd rather have Eller play with two skilled guys then a couple of pluggers. I really think DD has the potential to be a diamond in the rough like St. Louis was, but he needs to be put in a situation to succeed. Eller has also shown a lot of promise and I'd rather give him a chance on the 2nd line, because after the first game, Gomez has gone back to his regular season form.
  13. Thanksfor checking, at least that's promising that they don't have to give Pouliot a raise after this awful year, the way they did with Higgins after his terrible year. I hope they do qualify Pouliot and not let another asset go for nothing. He still have one more RFA year after next year right? I also hope they get a long term deal done with Ak46 and not due a one year deal that would make him a UFA the following year.
  14. well, White fights and JM seems to like him. I think its more a matter of you make a mistake or take a penalty and you are a kid who still needs some coaching, i have no time to coach you. But if you are an $8m bum who takes stupid penalties and couldn't score in a brothel, you have no fear of repurcussions on your ice time. I'm still peeved off about the way SK74 was handled right from training camp last year and then trading him for two UNRESTRICTED UFA's 3-4 days before the start of free agency is just plain stupidity. I know a lot of people rave about how well Subban has "developed" under Martin, but I think that is a total BS and a red herring. Subban started playing better when JM was forced to give him ice time due to the habs blue line being decimated. To me the injuries were a blessing, because the habs were forced to lean on Subban. Otherwise, he might still have been rotating in and out of the lineup. That's why I really want the habs to give Weber more of a look next year.
  15. I hated the trade - I think the Rangers should have been trying to sweeten the deal by giving up a top prospect to take that horrible contract of their hands, instead we gave them one of our top two D-man prospects in Mcdonough. The only thing that could have been worse is if we gave up Subban. McDonough is a big guy, playing 20+ minutes. O'Byrne, another big physical dman playing 20+minutes. Both of these guys would have been an improvement over Spacek, Hammer, Sopel, Mara, and Gill - yes Gill brings the intangibles of being SUbban's mentor this year, but after this year, I don't want Gill, Hammer, Mara or Spacek (whom we are probably stuck with) back.
  16. Don't your remember, Chara is an angel and freindlier then the freindly giant- he would never ever try and injure someone. Besides it helps having Campbell's son on the bruins to get the free pass from the league.
  17. I really don't know why everyone hear wants Hammer and Gill back - when we are already stuck with Spacek as an over 35 signing. The only way I'd want either Hammer or Gill back would be IF the habs an get someone to take Spacek off our hands AND they both sign VERY cheap. To me that would mean Hammer signing for under $2.5M and Gill for around $1.2M - which I don't see either doing. The Habs will probably have to pay Gorges close to $3M - which is more then double what he gets now, Wiz would probably be around $4M, I'm hoping that can get Markov for around $4.5M. Having those three plus the new number #1a/b d-man in Subban hat would be an impressive top 4. I'd much rather pick up one BIG dman, or at least one who is a physical force and can further help the transiition game via free agency or trade (Bieska) would be nice. The last two positions can be filled out by saying how Weber progresses and picking up one other PHYSICAL dman. It may sound cold, but I think Gill has served his purpose this year and Subban shouldn't need him next year. Next year, I'd much rather pair Subban with Markov or even Gorges. I think this year's playoffs have shown the habs D to be old and slow and we need guys who can actually clear the front of the net - Gill and Hammer haven't been very effective in helping the transition game or the physical game. Its time to keep the studs and dump the duds. Hammer has been useful, but hasn't been worth the $5.5M he is getting and I also think there are better options out there. To me the following D would be a wet dream: Markov - $4.5-$5M Subban - $750K Gorges $2.75M Beiska $3.75M Wiz $3,75M Weber $750k Don't they have to tender him at a 5% increase to keep his rights this year?
  18. The difference is that all three, Richer, Corson and Malakhov had put up impressive numbers and had a few productive seasons before they were moved. I wouldn't think the value for Pouliot is going to be very high given his pretty much 1/4 of a good season last year. I think you have to give him one more year next year and move some of the garbage like Moen who was on the top two lines way too often this year. Everyone wanted Ak46 moved at the trade deadline and IMO, he has been one of the habs most consistent offensive players (given his annual output - not on a game by game basis). Ak46 has been outstanding in this year's playoffs and he is around 3 years older then Pouliot, so I really think we need to give Pouliot one more year. What hurts is the stupid raise the habs gave him last year and that means that this year's qualifying offer has to be higher. Not sure why they gave him that big of a raise on a one year deal - you would think, they would have wanted at least two years at that rate, rather then having to give him at a minimum the required increase in this year's qualifying offer.
  19. Despite his size, Moen is really not bringing a physical presence and IMO, its pretty much pointless to have a guy go to the net, when he is consistently missing open nets. I don't think he just had a bad game, I think he has been pretty lousy all series. Not sure why JM took Darche off the G&G line. If you have to sit one of Gomez and Moen and Gomez isn't going to be the one (I think any other coach in the league would have benched him at some point during the season, given the horrid season he had), I'd rather sit Moen and put Pouliot back in. You would THINK Pouliot would come back into the lineup hungry, but at least he does use his size more then Moen does and has the potential to contribute physically. Ryder really did nothing until last night as well and Boston writers had been calling to sit him. Like Pouliot he has been at least hitting and finally contributed last night. The habs need someone with some finish. The habs also need someone on the point he can contribute on the PP. I'd much rather have Hammer and Weber back there for the second PP unit and IMO, Weber also is much better on the outlet pass then Spacek or Mara. Mara is clearly brings more of a physical presence, but I think he is more of a penalty threat then Weber. The habs have been getting burnt in their own end, because for the most part, with the exception of Subban, their D is too slow and can't get the puck out of their zone - I doubt if Mara is going to help in that regard. I wouldn't mind even seeing Weber paired with Hammer and having Wiz with Sopel, but at this point, I'd rather insert two guys who have more offensive potential into the lineup. The fine is what I pretty much expected for Ference, so I'm not surprised. I bet if that was PK giving the finger in Boston, He'd been suspended and we would have heard Milbury and Stock say what a coachrach PK is and the CBC's cross dressing redneck proclaim who Subban is a "black" mark on the league and not only is showing disrpect to other players but is also disrespectful to the greatest fans (after Toronto) in hockey.
  20. I missed the first two periods, was in still on my flight back home for the first and listened to the 2nd period on the way home from the airport on satellite. So, with the exception of the 3rd period and overtime I can only go by the highlights. The defence looked horrible on all the goals. I really don't get what Spacek is doing in the lineup. Would rather see Weber or even Mara. Spacek has looked horrible in all the games. This is why i don't want Hammer and Gill back next year - unless the habs can find a way to dump Spacek. Gill has served his purpose this year in mentoring Subban, but the defence is far too slow and Gill, Hammer and Spacek also lack any sort of physicality depsite Gill being almost as big as Chara. I also don't get what Moen is doing on the second line and am really fed up with Gomez after a strong first game by him. There have been far too many goals scored where he has been responsible for covering the goal scorer and has just let his man be all alone in front of the net or has been very lazy in his back check. I really think JM needs to mix up his 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines and has got to have Halpern taking more draws. I'd like to see the following: AK46-Pleks-Cammy Deshernais-Eller-Gionta Pouliot-Halpern-White Pyatt-Gomez-Darche SUbban-Gill Wiz-Hammer Sopel-Weber Next game, IMO you have to sit either Moen or Gomez. Pouliot has been horrible, but so was Ryder. What Pouliot does bring, like Ryder is the POTENTIAL to contribute. I'm fed up with the emtpy net misses by Moen and Gomez and just fed up in general with Gomez. If the habs get out of this round (momentum clearly is with Boston now), I'd like them to play him in game 1, because that tends to be the only game historically that Gomez is strong in. But after that his ass should be nailed to the bench. He is not contributing offensively and has been a major liability defensively. The habs should be up 3-1 right now and it could have even been a 4-0 series win, in which case, I would have been willing to cast my doubts about JM aside, but being tied 2-2 when they had Boston on the ropes is so demoralizing. It just seems other coaches make the right call, like calling a time at on oppertune time. I also can't believe who ineffective the PP has been. It's not as bad as it was in the Philly series, but last night at the end of the 3rd, the PP oppertunity was one that you have to capitalize on and you can't let leads and oppertunities like that continuously slip through your fingers and expect to be successful. Lastly, Fereance should be suspended, but given that we have idiots and the father of Campell in charge of officiting, I doubt if we'll see that happen.
  21. if gomez had any hand, it would be tied on that last play
  22. now why couldn't they play like this to start the game??????
  23. come on boys - if they tie it up it should really deflate the bruins
  24. AK46 again!! actually Pleks - thought Ak46 tipped it.
