  1. Wow Aucoin is really getting overpaid. I wonder how much Clarke spend on his D-men...
  2. No. I just really dont see him as a good fit.
  3. At least its not the leafs... Cross another name off my want-list
  4. This is old news. And the fact that Lecavalier is an RFA means nothing, Koivu is an RFA, Theodore is an RFA, Ryder is an RFA... etc. He's not a UFA. He's restricted, we could offer him a contract, and Tampa can match... if they dont match we'd have to compensate them with draft picks. Only one or two RFA's have ever signed an offer sheet with another team and left the former team. Also... Welcome to HW. Just calm down a bit [Edited on 2005-8-2 by puck7x]
  5. No big deal. I'd rather have players who want to PLAY for the Canadiens then play for big money. Let him go... he was never my first choice anyways (Foote is, but I doubt we get him either).
  6. From Future Shop.... pc only right now Just ordered my copy. <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10063650&catid=11129&atab=4&spviewed=&logon=&langid=EN" target=_blank>CLICK HERE FOR DEAL!</a> [Edited on 2005-8-1 by puck7x]
  7. Yeah, dont complain. Who cares what he deserves, this gives us so much more flexibility. good job Gainey.
  8. I'll let you in, my fault... I was thinking the ufa period started at midnight, I forgot it was switched to noon.
  9. Eklund's latest... "Mario making a huge push for Forsberg. Kovalev will be a Pen. Rafalski has a deal on the table for over 4 a year. Niewendyke and Roberts to FLA. Nathan Horton may be involved in Fla Thornton Deal...Neidermayer to Vancouver "not certain at all." -- "
  10. Roberts and Newy to Florida... Wow.... http://www.sportsnet.ca/
  11. Doesnt bother me. Isbister never developed into the player people thought he would, and he's not about to do that in Boston. It just fills one of Bostons roster spots with an average player. No big deal.
  12. Both Sundstrom and Dagenais scored more goals in one seasons as habs then Ward did in his 8 years. For what we pay Dags he is one hell of a bargain, sure you may not like his style... but he's productive. We could find dozens of Ward's on the open market, and most of them can stay healthy for a full season.
  13. In Montreal he'd get top line icetime because he's a right-D , he's probably play with Souray on the top pairing. And Brisebois isnt going to re-sign with us anyways, he's said so himself in an interview with RDS. So unless he changes his mind, he's done with us. I think 3.5 per year is a bit much for Aucoin, especially when Lecavalier could be a UFA next summer. Hmmm Aucoin now or Lecavalier in one year... tough choice... NOT! Go Vinny! you've got to think ahead to next year when all the big prizes are available (Pronger, Thornton, Lecavalier, Iginla) If we're going to give out big contracts then they better be short term, if we're giving out long-term contracts it better be for a low average salary. 14. Article on Aucoin's future: http://www.habsworld.net/out.php?2460 </a> Are you willing to offer Aucoin a deal better then 4 years at 13 million? (3.25 per year) ... Keep in mind Souray makes 2.1 million, and Rivet 2.3 (they made more prior to the rollback of course) [Edited on 2005-8-1 by puck7x]
  15. Funny, just found this old picture I took on November 24th at the Canada-Russia challange, one of the few pictures I took... and look who it is, Latendresse... I was sitting right next to the players entrance, I said hi to him... wished him good luck. Pretty funny we ended up drafting him. Never did I think that was a possibility back then. <img src="http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/313/latendresseauto5od.jpg">
  16. Josh Simms won the draft pool. Congrats to him! 4 correct picks... including the habs 2nd rounder (Latendresse) Onto other bussiness. UFA pool registration is closed. And since Zubov signed BEFORE the UFA period began he will not be eligible for this pool (anyone who guessed Zubov to Dallas will not get points. Sorry).
  17. btw, in case you hadnt heard... Zubov re-signed with Dallas right before the deadline. So we can cross him off our list (if he was ever on it) Names that keep coming up in habs rumours: Adam Foote, Adrian Aucoin, Paul Kariya, Alex Kovalev Lets see what happens. I bet Gainey has some surprises in store for us, he'll probably sign a player or two nobody expects (hopefully not some bottom liner, lol).
  18. (At noon est today) Does anyone expect a rush of signings? I doubt it will happen today, but it could... Anything could happen. Its an exciting time to be a fan, never before have so many UFA's been available at once. 19. The Als have traded WR Kwame Cavil to the Esks for DL Clinton Wayne.. Surprises me a bit, though the Als obviously need help on D. I liked Kavil, oh well
  20. Ward made 800k in the last NHL season, to be qualified he'd need a (I think) 10% raise on that. (I'm not taking the 24% rollback into account though... so maybe it was less) Gainey obviously doesnt want to spend close to a million dollars on a 4th liner, he'd prefer spending the league minimum salary of 450k on a player like that. Makes sense... But I'm sorry to lose Ward (unless we re-sign him at a reduced rate) [Edited on 2005-7-31 by puck7x]
  21. Its actually London, but a good point anyways.
  22. My short thoughts of all our picks... Carey Price: I hate the fact that we took a goalie #5 overall. But the reviews on him are all great, and he gives a good interview, seems like a great person, is very mature. I'll give him a chance for sure. Guillaume Latendresse: Absolutely love this pick. Great job by Gainey to acquire this pick from the Rangers. Latendresse is a steal at this spot. He could of gone in the 1st round. He fills a role that none of our other prospects can, he's a POWER FORWARD. He's strong as hell, and loves to play physical. He's not a sure thing, but he's great pick where we got him. Juraj Mikus: Never really heard about him before today, but I like what I've read so far. Very skilled good skating and big centre, plus a right handed shot. Compares to M.Hejduk also... Also a big late riser in the draft, its always great to draft guys like that. Could be a gem Mathieu Aubin: Dont like this pick at all, but I'll have to see more of Aubin before I write him off completely. This pick reminds me of the Urquhart one... I really think we should have taken a D-man at this spot. Matt D’Agostini: Dont know much at all about him, so I really cant say anything. Again, I would have preffered to draft a D-man by now... But we'll see what happens in the future with this player. Siarhei Kostitsyn: Great pick! Loved what I saw out of little'kost at the WJHC's, less skill then his brother, but a more agressive game. This pick should also make Andrei happy, and a happy Andrei is good for the habs. Philippe Paquet: About time we drafted a D. I dont know anything about Paquet, but it seems like he has potential, I love that he's a great skater.
  23. In case anyone doesnt know... the main draft thread is on the habs talk forum... http://www.habsworld.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=2791
