  1. Saw D'Agostino and Stewart get on the plane to Montreal a couple of hours ago. D'Agostino looked like he might be a nervous flyer :-)
  2. Ya, great idea...then the anthems would take up the first two hours at Habs games
  3. I vote leave it alone. Enough traditional parts of the game are gone...they play US & Canadian anthems at the Jays games...not Cuban and Dominican. If it ain't broke, why fix it? The anthem isn't specifically for the players, it's a tradition for the fans. Montreal is in Canada, so the Canadian anthem is appropriate. If they play a USA based team, the US Anthem is appropriate...some day when they play Russian, Swedish, Czech *based* teams...I'm sure those anthems will be played too.
  4. I think the suspensions are about right...the media and political circus is an embarrassing joke however.
  5. Comments like that just crack me up (and are why I find most of these "fan" boards close to unbearable when the team faces challenges of any kind). How people can be so negative when we're having our best season in years if not decades really proves that some people have bitching and moaning so ingrained that they've completely forgotten how to cheer (a lot of the whiners should look themselves in the mirror...because I bet they go through life crying poor pitiful me over the most mundane things every day). We're facing our first serious adversity of the year with injuries...hopefully Komi, Steit and Koivu will be back soon, if not...players will need to step up. I for one will judge this season after it's over. IN BOB I TRUST! I'm with you Joe...I've been giving the board a wide berth the last couple of weeks as I'm just fed up with these cry babies...not everyone, just "the sky is falling" types. More beer, less deep, depressing thoughts...all whine no fun make Homer go crazy
  6. Now that we've clinched it may actually be a good idea to give Halak 2 or 3 games to make sure Price is fresh for a long playoff run I'd welcome Theo back but there's a better chance of me being the backup next year than Theo
  7. You win first prize in the "He Gets It" derby...nicely put!
  8. Ya, one of us clearly doesn't get it...relax, have a beer, enjoy the win...leave the in depth psychological analysis for the team psychologist...some games this board is like a rest home for frustrated unemployed sports writers
  9. Who cares, at least he got them out of the way in a VICTORY.
  10. Seriously, we won and clinched...the bitching is comical...boo hoo hoo, the 2nd place team in our division got ripped by their coach/gm after the 2nd and came out hungry in the 3rd. Man some of you guys love to bitch
  11. If we lose Halak, and I believe it's very possible, we could give Danis a shot at backing up Price and go with Desjardins & Locasse in Hamilton. If we lose both Halak and Danis (I can't see where Danis would sign with his limited exposure) maybe we can re-acquire Mike Leighton Halak will be a tough one, he wants to be a starter and if it's not happening in Montreal he'll want to look around for sure. There's a handful of teams that may gamble on him just under 2 mill in my opinion and I just don't see Bob paying that for him...but ya never know, Price is locked up cheap for 3 years so Bobby may offer Halak 1.5-1.8 (but no more than Price's 1.8).
  12. He looks like he's getting more comfortable, last 2 saves were with authority.
  13. [Jinx] You're right, Thomas looks unbeatable, guaranteed shutout coming up! [/Jinx]
  14. Ya, I know he was right but I still can't stand the guy. He's so bitter towards the Habs and it dates back to 1993 when the Habs eliminated his Islanders in the playoffs (I was at the triple ot game). Biased pinheads like him have no business on a national TV station...toss him and Cherry on Leafs TV...the world would be a much better place
  15. He does seem a bit off, going down early...hopefully he'll get more comfortable the more shots he gets. It's tough for him sitting on the bench, we know this.
  16. Did I nod off and have a daydream, or did that pinhead Glenn Healey just try and tell us how Carey Price should play goal?!?! I'm in tears I'm laughing so hard. Newsflash Healey, Price has already accomplished more in his first 34 games than you did in you whole fringe NHL backup goalie career!
  17. I totally disagree, it was a flukey bounce right in front of him. Fluke meaning that was the kind of goal that eludes a goalie once a decade at most. Bottom line, it's a funny sidebar but a complete non-issue as it had no impact on the outcome of the game. Anyone who knows hockey knows that Toskala is a much better goalie than that 1 flukey shot (even though he's a Leaf) and that goal has no impact on him...he's laughing at it because it was a fluke and it's over.
  18. Really! If anyone thought Tosk looked stupid on that goal, just watch that fan...she'd make ANYONE look like Albert Einstein...no wonder it's so easy for the Leafs to fool their fans in to believing Toronto has an NHL team
  19. You underestimate the desperation of some GM's. I know he's done very little in the NHL, but he's shown he can play in the NHL and he was the best goalie in the AHL for most of this year. So while I will agree that I may be overestimating him at present, you guys may be underestimating his potential...lets meet in the middle, somewhere with cold beer preferably
  20. Halak may actually be too good to keep. He has starter written all over him, but not in Montreal. He's an RFA next season and is obviously going to want more money. Price is making 1.8 mil this year (with bonus), and for the next 2 years. Halak is making 1/2 mil. He will obviously want a raise, but how much can we offer him without offending Price? If he goes for 2 years at 1 mil per, that would work...but there's 6 or 7 teams out there desperate for a break out starter that may throw 2 or 3 mil at him just at the chance that he's an elite starter. To me, this is where playing Halak too much this year could work against us. I think there's a really good chance Yann Danis could be our backup next year
  21. Any goalie knows those things happen. Toskala played it pretty well, he could have been farther out, but he got his body in front of it. Took a weird bounce to the left at the end, not his fault at all. As for Raycroft, sure, he would have stopped it...then allowed 7 others in
