  1. Ladd isn't available to my knowledge. I am not sure he is a third line RW on the Montreal Canadiens right now given that Gallagher is out. I would believe he would add some goal net presence from the right side. I know the power play is going pretty well this year, but guys like him and Burns have been suggested when the powerplay wasn't clicking. Given Buffs flexibity, i don't think his contract is outrageous. Expensive yeah--- obviously something would have to be go the other way
  2. Dude-- you are not in a very good place if you have issues with somebody else's preferences
  3. Gossip has it that Big Buff was offered for Harmonic straight up and the islanders declined. Could we pry Harmonic away with the goal of ending up with BB? We move him back to forward on the short term?
  4. Yeah- nobody could have predicted that. They did play them tough the last time; but that would be the only thing that might have suggested this result
  5. Yeah you may be right. I think they would like to fill the roster with that type. That gives them flexibility on the cheap.
  6. Power isn't essential for a lead off hitter. Streaky and no arm yeah. I wouldn't downplay the importance of having a good lead off hitter to the Jays. Even though I like Happ, who is an innings muncher, which will be much needed with Buerhle gone, !2M per is a little rich for my blood. Look for the jays to be looking for a poormans Happ--- fifth starters who can be moved back and forth into bullpen in a pinch. Looks like no new money.
  7. Five out of six points, going against top rivals; with a depleted roster---- Not too shabby at all!
  8. I think this is more about rewarding good play in St. Johns. I don't worry too much of who's up and who's down and how they might fit in lineup. We will see if Carr gets a game or is just press box fodder. Ghetto may be the only one that has a chance to stick. We will see what happens when players come off sick bay.
  9. I find that the older generation, myself included, find games harder to watch with less entertainment value. I still see players turn their back so they can't get hit. Unfortunately the league has removed most of the body checking with the new style that has evolved. One of the reasons fighting is down is that there is far less close contact. Fans are looking for more action. I do not believe if you take body engagement and/or fighting (that interaction) out of the mix; that you can replace it with more scoring. You do need to replace it however, with something.
  10. Maybe in the case of Fournier, we prematurely have pigeon-holed him as slug. We may be the only club that have given the Marlies any trouble. I may regret saying this, but KUDO's to SLY for having the boys ready to go. Have we turned a corner here?
  11. Wasn't Revere that lead off guy that looked pretty good ?
  12. I think we are sitting in the cat bird seat. Cary being out for a month should put the boys to the test. It should expose our weaknesses and our strengths. Unless something falls in his lap, i believe MB will read what befalls in the next month or so and tighten up the roster closer to deadline time. Obviously, if our goalie situation, should go into free fall; something might have to be done. Seems to me that things are going too good to rush into any roster decisions.
  13. As per the practice lines today would suggest ---Yes
  14. As much as everyone wants to see Ghetto, I think he is the one that sits.
  15. Toker returned today per AHL site -transactions---No other movement recorded
  16. I am a little peeved at the timing of the Travis surgery. I know they were holding out to see if he might been available should they have made it through, but as far as I am concerned he should have had the surgery months ago thereby being ready to go at least at the start of season, if not before. In hind sight, bad decision making.
  17. Thanx Dlbair---As noted there isn't alot of movement-- the first three you have listed I believe returned to their original teams and the other two are minor leaguers-- Seems every year that someone has to open floodgates by signing one or two of the free top agents. Players agents are chumming the waters seeing how much money is out there for their top clients. We wait patiently for a feeding frenzy.
  18. Who have you seen signed from another team that wasn't traded?
  19. I think we would have taken a split with the Marlies coming in ---
  20. I read that they can start signing tonight--- Is that midnight or just Sunday sometime?
  21. Thanx Dlbair- not the first time I mixed the two up
  22. Ryder and Cole was a lateral move, the rest are young-- and only Weaver was over 30 who he traded for a pick, so no biggy and also dropped the next year---I still believe age is a factor. Secondly the thread is looking for a high end addition not all this minor stuff. You have hit a bulleyes on what types of players he has brought in-- Petry and Vanek the biggest names in value
  23. Weaver the only one then? Just trying to establish a pattern.
  24. Just a little observation-- on what MB might do--- When he first arrived he stated clearly that he would not trade the future for the present. He has since stated repeated that he has no intention from veering from what he believes in. I don't think it is a coincidence that he is never brought in anyone at the deadline over 30? I have no reason to believe that he will alter his self imposed parameters.
