  1. That goal Price just let in kinda makes me wanna puke.
  2. Hope Eller is ok. That was a goal...and better stay a goal. Guess not.
  3. Montreal will win. Not maybe, could or might. Will. No " the smart money's" or " Just to be fair's " I will say this again...Montreal will win. Anyone who posts to the contrary before the final buzzer will be held personally responsible for a loss, should it happen. But it won't. Game seven is but a day away.
  4. Two game 7's tonight and two more tomorrow. Buffalo / Philly Vancouver / Chicago Pittsburgh / Tampa Montreal / Boston Who advances to round 2? I'll take Buffalo, Chicago and Pittsburgh and Montreal.
  5. I hope so. I don't have any emotional stake in the Nucks so I'm happy to see a major upset. Keeps things interesting. Tomorrow night is going to be an amazing 6 hours of hockey watching. The Buffalo / Philly series is another one that I'd like to see end in an upset. Round 2 without Vancouver and Philly would dramatically change the playoff landscape for the teams remaining.
  6. This is a silly argument on my part but I'll post it anyway. ( dates from Wikipedia ) Mathematically I'm going to guess he's still a Habs fan at heart. Born 1933. So he's 78 years old Started announcing Leafs games in 1980 - 2008 = 28 years. Let's say he started following hockey when he was 10. 1943 - 1979 he was probably a Habs fan = 36 years of fandom. ( before he started announcing Leafs games ) Let's give him a 3 extra transitional years rooting for MTL before he *might* have gone to the dark side = 39 years Plus and extra 3 years ( 2008 - 2011 ) when he got back to MTL games = 42 years I'm not sure that you can erase 42 years of being a Habs fan ( beginning when you were a kid ) with 31 years of announcing Toronto games. And there you have it folks, irrefutable mathematical evidence that Bob Cole flies the flag of Montreal. Kidding.
  7. You are absolutely right Wams, these guys are Bruins Alumni and Leafs fans. When bias does happen I am not surprised in the least. I just don't buy into the idea that it has been a constant and unmovable bias all season long. They do waffle on their opinions based on the outcome of games. If the Habs were winning the series I suspect the analysis would be favored in Montreal's direction for the most part.. I don't want to come off as defending Cherry, because he is certainly nuts, but did he really kick start a whole national Subban hate-athon? One guy has that much power and sway? He is one voice and there are many others who dislike Subban for his skill and confident attitude not to mention "other" reasons. In the end these analysts are just human, of course they will carry bias like we all do. I accept that when I watch a game the commentary could be tilted. It's for that reason alone that I try to watch RDS as much as possible. My french isn't so great, it bypasses most of that BS when you don't understand much of what is said. While it might not always be reasonable for the media to take pot shots at the Canadiens, who can blame them? 24 cups, a dynasty and a very long track records of crushing the hopes of the other major hockey markets in eastern Canada and the United States. No one likes a winner.
  8. But even Cherry, the once Bruins coach, can have something negative to say about the Bruins. He's kinda crazy, I get that, but even in the last few games I've heard him say good things about Halpern or Cammalleri for example. Cherry will pull for a good ol'boy from Manitoba or Thunder Bay regardless of which team he plays for. Block a shot and you're in his good books. For all his Subban bashing, he'll turn around and tell us how great of a player he'll be one day. I've heard the others talk about the laziness of the Bruins in the first two games, not getting to the net etc. This leads me to think that some of these commentators are simply not as biased as some would have us believe. Add to that, when a team is losing, it's very easy for analysts to focus on the short comings of that team. For the last 3 games it has been Montreal. Would it be more fair for Milbury or Stock to fly the flag of Montreal? No. With most things, sports analysis included, I think the negative comments stick more with the fans. Is it not possible that we are, even in a small way, remembering the bad times more than the good? I don't get the impression that this entire year has been nothing more than MTL bashing from the sports media.
  9. He felt the need to apologize because he was ( from what I gather ) bombarded by tweets or messages back. The Bruins comments were made in interviews where there could be no immediate feedback. That came later when it was much easier to say nothing. Just imagine Patches sitting at home and making a harmless tweet. Then minutes later it explodes. I can understand his reasoning for apologizing. He's just taking the high road, and more accurately, back peddling a little. No harm in that. Marchand does have a big nose..... to match his mouth. Wish I was on Twitter.
  10. Just another great example of the hockey media latching on to ANYTHING because it's a slow news day. I don't really think there is a double standard though. If you look around you will find analysts, journalists and fans making arguments on both sides of the fence. Same with Marchand's ridiculous pre game comments Same with Ference's middle finger. Same with Recchi's comments about Patches getting out of the hospital and enjoying a movie. The interwebs is full of Canadiens fans and Bruins fans yipping at each other over nothing. It's like one big playground with one kid saying " MY dad is stronger than your dad, No my dad is stronger than your dad." I don't know why anyone is demanding social responsibility from a group of hockey players. They guys just laugh this stuff off, why can't we?
  11. I was calling Bruins Suck out for being a troll. If not, I apologize and look forward to reading your many insightful posts about the Canadiens.
  12. Interesting...I've never heard a Habs fan say Thomas was better than Price. I'm gonna call BS, this isn't BruinsWorld. It would work out better for you to post that garbage here: http://hfboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15 See you in game 7 Bruins Suck.
  13. As ridiculous as it is, 10k isn't going to hurt the Montreal Canadiens bottom line. I would assume someone in the chain of command knew of the fine and was happy to accept it to give all the guys a day off.
  14. Actually, yes it does. It took nearly a half hour of overtime for Boston to win that game. I don't think we were ever in a spot where we couldn't win it. That was not a 4-1 game or a 5-2 game. It was 1-1 and went into double overtime. There were big saves on both sides. I don't think that just because Gionta didn't bury that great chance he had at the end that the Habs were outplayed in anyway. Horton's goal was simply the odds catching up to Montreal, It just as easily could have happened to Boston. That it didn't certainly sucks but is not the end of the world. All that to say, had the stars aligned on any of the chances Montreal had we'd be singing a very different tune right now. There are still 2 games left to go so why wave the white flag now? Is it really that impossible that Montreal could win on Tuesday and again on Wednesday? I don't understand all this fear and negativity surrounding game 6. No one thought the Habs would sweep right? Well if that's the case, then logically, this was always going to be a 5 - 7 game series. And that's exactly where we are at. If we lose fine. It wasn't in the cards and I hope that Montreal ( with a healthy lineup ) make another great run next year. But if we win this series....I can just imagine that all of the fearful people will turn tail and wave the Habs flag right into round two. Only to be fearful once again because we are playing team X. Actually I'm surprised that anyone is still watching hockey, wasn't there a group who said they were never watching NHL games again after Patches got hit? And imagine that....he we are talking about the Habs in the playoffs. Here's a little reality check - the series is 3-2. Montreal is still very much in it. Lighten up, have a beer and enjoy the rest of this series. It's been the best hockey of 2010 / 2011.
  15. The best of 7 series just got reduced to a best of 3 and the Bruins barely managed to win game 1 in double overtime. I don't see any evidence that gives Boston better chances for a win in game 6 I also can't understand the rationale of Habs fans writing off Montreal on home ice in an elimination game. If we take all the games these two teams have played against each other this season it's: MTL 6 BOS 5 AT BEST the only fair statement is that game 6 could go either way......and probably not by much. The Habs have shown that they can dig themselves out of much deeper holes than this. Just wait for it. I am optimistic that we will be greeted with this on Wednesday morning: GDT: Game 7 Habs @ Bruins Apr 27, 2011
  16. These last 2 games have one been one goal wins for the Bruins. Not exactly indicative of a team that is vastly superior to the Habs. In what some may consider *typical* fashion I fully expect that we'll get a break and win on Tuesday. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Habs win by 2 goals or more. Now is not the time to give up on these guys. Last nights game was close and Halpern of all people gets the tying goal. That alone flies in the face of the notion that we only have a couple good offensive players, every Hab on the ice can be a threat. Not to mention that the analysts had Boston in 4 or 5. They were all wrong and now we're starring down the barrel of game 6. A 3-2 series is much better than 3-1. A rather shallow hole that we should be able to dig ourselves out of. Montreal is a solid team. A team that makes mistakes but ultimately comes together when the chips are stacked. Tuesday, facing elimination, we will shut down Boston and prove the doubters wrong. This series is going to seven.
  17. We'll tie this up back in MTL Tuesday. We have to. It was a good hard fought ending to the game. Too bad it didn't work out for us.
