  1. The team played a high energy style overall which allowed them to produce more than their talent level for most of the year. At this point some members of the team are running out of gas imo. There just isnt enough talent there yet. That said suzuki and poehling should add some very soon.
  2. I dont think a team taking 48 shots on goal is laying a goose egg. They fought hard and gave a hell of an effort tonight. Its hard to question the desire tonight. They lost cause crawford played great and the effort didnt translate to goals. But that doesnt mean they laid an egg or gave a shitty effort after the call out was about a lack of effort against the isles.
  3. It could very well be the lack of conditioning due to a year off. When he first came back it was a jolt of adrenaline. Now the adrenaline is gone and his conditioning isnt up to snuff due to missing a full year. Hes hit a wall.
  4. Have you ever posted something that is positive? Like not just lately... i get that they are playing shit lately. But youve been sky is falling from day 1.
  5. My point is that if you took any roster in the NHL and assumed that all the players who will become UFA will leave, with no replacements added... you wouldnt have many cup contending rosters. Thats why this is an unrealistic way to consider building a team. Instead id look at things this way. 1) will they have a number 1 goalie? Yes i think price will still be that caliber and even past 3 years as he declines, Primeau looks like a hell of a prospect. 2) what will the centre depth be? Kk is no guarantee but is a good bet to be the number 1 c. Further down the depth chart... domi, danault, poehling, suzuki should combine to fill spots 2 and 3. 3) wing scoring.... if suzuki is not a centre... he fits here. Gallagher js young enough to still be good. Drouin will still be here based on contract. Tatar is young enough he could be effective if re-signed. Will one of ylonen, ikonen, or the later picks become a top 6 winger? 4) defence. Shea Weber is likely still an elite shooter but may not be a true number 1 at that point. He should still be at least a #3. Mete should be a top 4 dman. Brook, romanov, juulsen, fleury all have the chance of developing into top 4 guys. However brook and romanov are the only two who have any chance of being top pair defencemen and there is no guarantee. So what will the habs have to do. 1) hope that 2 of 3, (kk, brook, romanov) become 1st line/1st pair type of players. 2) acquire a top pair dman somehow. Bergevin pulled this off before in Petry. (He also acquired Weber but that also saw hin trade a top pair d). So he found a top pairing guy and will likely need to do so at some point. 3) get good depth with other acquisitions or development of prospects. 1 and 3 seem possible. 2 is the hardest area to address clearly.
  6. Bruins win in OT so its 3 points
  7. They are bleak 3 (possibly) 4 points down is not "out of the question"
  8. I don't know that much has changed in the last couple of drafts either The Habs are still picking the players with the same traits they often look for like Brook, Romanov, Ylonen, etc As for Debrincat a lot of teams made the mistake of missing him due to his size, that was why he fell to 39th over, I wouldn't assume the Habs would have taken him at that spot. Its a common thing to miss on this profile of player, look at Brayden Point who was a third round pick.
  9. 45 shots and can't buy a goal. Freaking Crawford always gets up to play in the Bell Centre.
  10. Small with average but not great skating has never been Timmins M.O. with 1st or 2nd round picks. I doubt we take him. He usually goes bigger early in the draft, and skating is usually high on his list, only making exceptions for guys like Latendresse, Tinordi and McCarron who were giants
  11. How many players from the Q has Trevor Timmins taken in the first two rounds? I count 7. And he's had 33 1st or 2nd rounders in that time.... He's drafted more Americans than players from the Q high in the draft. That said, I doubt we take him, cause he's never drafted a player that small with that high of a draft pick.
  12. Considering where we thought they would be at the start of the season, the fact they have been in the race this long shows they are not absolute trash
  13. UGH Running around in their end
  14. 18 minutes Toews took a penalty so that kills 2 right there
  15. They are mid pack in scoring this year (and near the top of the league 5v5). Goalies have great games from time to time, there is little to suggest it happens more often against the Habs this season than against other NHL teams
  16. How close was Kovalev in 2007-2008?
  17. 30 shots already with 3:12 left in the second
  18. Strome has been dominant in Chicago since the trade And remember he has NOT been playing with Kane at 5v5, He's mostly with DeBrincat and Kahun
  19. Power Play Coming up. Or as I like to call it, 2 minutes of my life that I'm never getting back.
  20. He's got a horseshoe up his ass everytime he plays in the bell centre. Can't we get Dr. Mulder to remove that.
  21. Bad line change and the D cuts in uncovered
  22. Unpopular opinion but I like Bob Cole Does he get names wrong? yes and he's probably worst in the league at that But hes the best in the business at capturing the excitement of the play and having his voice rise and fall with it
  23. Good play in the period, gotta find a way to score
  24. Same as the last 2 times... 7 game war and the winner is easier pickings in round 2 To go deeper, I kinda hope the Leafs lose, losing to the Bruins again and a third straight first round loss could cause their management to do something stupid. I don't see the same level of panic if Boston falls to the Leafs and is considered even against them.
