  1. Its not laziness, but that lack of speed is a real concern of mine if we want him to play top 6 minutes....
  2. It was just one shift, and still didnt result in a goal... hell i'm not even sure they got a shot on net..... and its the greatest pp in ions? and the solution for the future? Thats the dumbest thing I've ever read... honestly... its so stupid to claim that one two-minute powerplay is something that is the solution for a pp (thats no longer even broken as they are now top 10 in the league), that I don't even know how to respond anymore.... You are so damn set on being right with your stupid theory (a theory that most NHL teams break by the way, and there is probably a reason for that), that you are overlooking the fact the powerplay has looked good for 4 or 5 games now, and many times with a lhd and rhd on the point, in favor of one powerplay that doesn't even score. Honestly, I don't think you are a stupid person, and I'm not saying you are stupid.... but this argument your are bringing forward as proof of your theory... its stupid. Yeah one 2 minute sequence looked pretty good... but thats all it is one two minute sequence... the ultimate in small sample size.
  3. In other words this is far more complex than just defensive handedness... it has to do with 1) all 5 guys moving their feet and not being stationary 2) not being predictable and using multiple ways to create chances 3) getting traffic in front of the net 4) execution
  4. did you see who was on the ice when the PP actually scored goals..... Subban - Markov. The reality is that Subban, Markov, and Petry are all good offensive defenceman... as I said before the problems have nothing at a;ll to do with two guys being right handed, or two guys being left handed, or one righty and one lefty.... None of this matters..... What matters is that a PP that ALWAYS passed to subban for a one-timer was too predictable, and now with Ramsey and Daigneault they are beginning to create other offensive opportunities, which will re-open Subban's one timer. Its all about system and multiple options on the pp... not about handedness... they have had great success with all kinds of combos of defencemen on the ice... r/r, l/l, and r/l, its all worked at times when they execute other parts of the plan.
  5. Pros: Tremendous shot.... good passer... strong on boards.... good hands. Cons; His defensive game is a disaster, and he cant skate and keep up with his linemates. If he can't fix those cons, he will end up a powerplay specialist at best, and not a top 6 winger.
  6. They will try Semin til february, maybe with some healthy scratches and demotions thrown in, but they won't abandon him. There just is no other top 6 RW available internally. If he doesnt wake up, look for a trade then. I predict Jarome Iginla.
  7. Yup, people on twitter seem to be pretending that playing last night (plus travel after the game) while the leafs were resting in a hotel in Montreal had no effect. Glad to see that people here realize that isn't the case and was a major factor. This is a good sign though, the team winning despite that adversity.
  8. Beaulieu is far from "brutal right now" and there is also the pesky little fact that Pateryn and Beaulieu don't play the same position.
  9. Lehkonen 18 pts in 18 games with a +11 so far this year (10 points in 12 SHL, 8 points in 6 Champions League).
  10. Condon played a good game. Did he have shaky moments? Sure... but it was a solid game overall. Are we so spoiled with Price, that we've forgotten what normal NHL goalies look like? If you are expecting the perfect game that Price pitches nearly every night, its not gonna happen.
  11. The reality is that there are likely.... 3 coaches in the NHL who are outstanding.... 25 or 26 coaches in the NHL who are pretty good but more or less interchangeable and who need to be changed because their voice gets tuned out by the room after a period of time. 1 or 2 coaches who suck. Therrien's in that middle group.
  12. My write up. http://lastwordonsports.com/2015/10/23/habs-prospect-martin-reway-dismissed-czech-team-despite-leading-league-points/
  13. We don't have corsi stats for the czech league, and i know plus/minus isn't the best stat but he is +3 in that limited ice time. Leading the league in points. On the ice for more 5v5 goals for than against. There comes a point he has to get more than 4th line ice time.
  14. More to the story.... If you are leading the league in points, and the team isn't playing you, you might have a legit gripe. Reway was getting less than 13 minutes per game on average, and only about 9 minutes was 5 v 5 time. Seems he was getting good ice time on the powerplay, but was often benched at even strength. Its also important to note he wasn't the one who went to the media... he went to his agent... who then went to the team. The team then demoted him and went to the media. I'm not sure what more the kid is supposed to do.
  15. He honestly might have the most pure talent of any of those guys, with the exception of Scherbak. Pure talent, he's got it. the question is between the ears, and right now it appears to be an issue. I believe its all up to him... if he matures, he can beat all those guys out.... if he doesn't, he'll fall to the wayside.
  16. Nygren I say will never play a game for the habs... he's a little older, came to NA twice and flamed out twice. He also plays RHD, a position where we have Subban and Petry locked up for a long time, and have Pateryn making his way into the league. We also have a ton of prospects at that side in Juulsen, Dietz, Ellis, Lernout, and Thrower, so even if he does come back, he's in tough. Best bet is to trade him if you can. Reway might have a chance if he wakes up.
  17. This season we have a team that could be very special.... if Tinordi falls by the way side while we play a lineup that will win games... meh....
  18. 21 years old, but a headcase. the only thing we can hope is that he matures.
  19. They had a bad first period... price bailed them out.... they had a great second and third. Shots were 38-36 overall... Again, what does it mean. As for scratching Beaulieu to play Tinordi. I wouldn't... just watch the way the Habs are playing, and the ability to move the puck is huge in their system and getting them wins.... scratching a guy who is a huge part of that and bringing in a d who can't move the puck is not going to help them.
  20. Here is reality Therrien takes over a team that finished last overall in 2003-04, lost the lottery to washington, and drafted Evgeni Malki.... Malkin stays in Russia until Sept 2006 Crosby is drafted in 05, is a rookie in 05-06 but the Penguins still have a horrible team around him. In 2005-06 season despite Crosby being on the way to a 100 point campaign, pittsburgh still sucks. Following a loss to Edmonton, the Penguins have just one win in their last 18 games. Therrien goes off after this loss and calls them the worst defensive team in hockey in February 2006 They finish with the second worst record in the NHL, draft Jordan Staal. They improve, making the playoffs in 2007 Continue to improve Making the cup finals in 2008 2008 off season Gonchar gets hurt, needs surgery on his ACL, misses the first half of the year (at this point gonchar is an elite NHL defenceman and Pittsburgh's best, easily) Therrien gets fired three years after the rant in February 2009, and while missing his best defenceman. Bylsma takes a team with Therrien's structure, tweaks it a little, gets gonchar back. Penguins make further deadline deals getting Chris Kunitz and Bill Guerin to give them wingers for Crosby and Malkin. Penguins win 2009 cup. Bylsma does nothing after winning cup, and penguins spend next six years getting a little bit worse every year But hey.... the fun narrative where he lost the room for calling out his team, that'd be really funny... if it was true.
  21. Therrien's rant is what finished him, and he lost the players? Funny cause it was THREE FULL YEARS before he got fired.
  22. \ He called his team "the worst defensive team in hockey" THREE FULL YEARS before he was fired. In the interim between being saying that and being fired, he took them to the cup final. In his final season, his best defenceman was out for 1/2 the year and returned only after he was replaced... Lets not let the facts get in the way of the narrative though. Article... Press Conference is in February 2006 http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/21798502/flashback-michel-therriens-unforgettable-rant-in-pittsburgh fired February 2009 http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/penguins-axe-coach-michel-therrien-1.848301
