If i had to rank it I would say 80% chance Pateryn gets an ELC. Hes been real good at Michigan. They will probably be an at large for the frozen four tourney even if they lose in the conference playoffs so his season will have at least 2-3 more weeks minimum I really think the only way he's not given an ELC from the Habs is if he decides to pull the free agency card on us.

I think its the rust. We wont see the real Markov this season, just too much time off. Heck, we might not see the real Markov til he gets a full training camp plus 10 regular season games next year.

How many games do you think Button personally scouted while GM of Calgary. I doubt he was travelling all over doing the scouting. This is why Timmins and his staff is so essential the GM isnt superhuman and can't attend all the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, NCAA, USHS, European, etc... games necessary. This is more an indictment of Calgary's scouts than Button. As for JFJ he wanted to build through the draft but Peddie and MLSE told him to make the playoffs quickly and deal away picks and prospects for Toskala, Raycroft etc.... i cant see Tinordi ready. As dominant as he is in the O, i expect some rough patches in the AHL. D his size almost always need time as they move up. Also the same D minus the UFAs and with 0 replacements has serious depth issues, and would ask for 82 games out of Markov which might not be realistic.
