  1. I dunno, I'm a sales guy and I can show my company how fired up I am by getting in the face of doctors that reject our repair service. Maybe I can throw a display of business cards to let theme know I'm serious.
  2. What the hell is wrong with this dude...it's preseason.
  3. Yeah, maybe it is an idiotic thing to say, but I think like many people on here and in the fan base, I'm deeply pessimistic and very unhappy with the direction of the team after the Subban trade. At some point, the league is going to have to cope with the fact that the dominant thinking (Weber being better than Subban) and reasoning of the congnoscenti is killing the entertainment value of the sport. As for the Habs, I can't even feign enthusiasm for the upcoming year. I see what's going on down the road in Sunrise, and after 25 years of support, and the last five or six of following the team on a daily basis, I can barely justify being a bandwagon fan of this franchise. They're the Leafs, we just haven't come to grips with it. Treating Big Game Max like some kind of superstar is the first step. (Like the Leafs' fans with Sundin or Wendel Clark).
  4. He's garbage. Not worthy of any kind of respect.
  5. Why don't you like the tournament? Tonight's game was a lot of fun. I don't really do TV or movies, so I'm really glad to have hockey back in any capacity.
  6. I love the look on his face. It says, "I've already quit on this coach."
  7. Big Game Max. Got a big game? Who do you call first? Justin Williams? Nope. Big Game Max. He's good to put up 0-0-0 with a -1, but he comes with a cheering section full of apologists. One heck of a Captain, too.
  8. I'd like to see them use that option with someone. Who's the last prospect they kept up for nine games?
  9. Is Pacioretty really a leader? Up for discussion. What's not up for discussion is his inclusion in the next incarnation of Team USA. He was useless at best in this tournament. Big Game Max...
  10. That's a bummer, but it's good to hear about people regaining their direction.
  11. Maybe Sergachev is further along than we think?
  12. You might get some different responses around here if you change your approach. Maybe instead of correcting people in every post that isn't an ad for your site you make some observations? Humor never hurt anybody either. Every single post is you correcting somebody or aggrandizing yourself and your website. You have to know that will chafe other users after about five thousand posts.Nice list, btw. I had no idea people from Canada knew hockey players.
  13. Some people don't get it. I'm guessing you played at a reasonably high level. I can relate to that because I played music semi-professionally through my teens to mid-20s. About 50 gigs a year and I taught five or six classes and had private students. I got to study under and play with a lot of my heroes in Boston and be interviewed and perform live on local radio. People who sit behind computers all day can't relate to what a cold shot it is to want something bad enough that you'll go to work 8 hours and practice three or four hours a day only to realize one day that you aren't good enough.
  14. Therrien just loooooooves Shea Weber. He's a perfect robot for his Jacques Lemaire knockoff system.
  15. That logic doesn't wash for me. What you and Commandant (and the media narrative) are saying is that: -Max isn't the best leader on the team, but we gave him the Captaincy. That's ok, because the Captaincy is just a letter, but over the Summer we traded our best skater and justified it by a leadership deficit. We're going to trade for an archetypal Captain but keep Max because it's not it's not important. Shea Weber should be Captain. Screw Max's feelings. I don't know he can keep the C in good conscience with that guy coming in the room. I think it's one of the bigger jokes in hockey.
  16. Sounds like a rebuttal to defend a team that has a lousy Captain, or one that picked the wrong guy. Is the Captain just a letter when Jonathan Toews wears it? How about Zdeno Chara? Mark Messier?
  17. Knowing this organization and the level of subterfuge, they would put Max up to saying he ceded the letter. The difference for me with the Pronger comparison (which is apt) is that Pronger moved around more, had an iffy reputation, and he was five years older than Weber. Where this whole situation breaks down imo is the tacit acknowledgement that Price is the "real Captain" then you bring in an archetypal Captain in Weber, and then Pacioretty is supposed to be taken super seriously? If I were a player and he tried to reel me in or gave a speech, I would just "yeah" him. The Captaincy means much less to the players that the fans, but this can't make much sense to the players, either. It's almost as if they prefer/trust Pacioretty to handle the media. CC had a great theory last season about Price being the Big Dog and his injury led to all the yip yap dogs fighting amongst themselves. Respect is earned, not given. I have no idea why Max was named Captain last year unless he voted by less than 40% of the team. -He's not the best skater. -He doesn't lead the team in TOI. -He is certainly not "clutch." -He doesn't stick up for his teammates. -He's never won a single thing in his entire career and he's not the most experienced player.
  18. Pacioretty is the third cheese in the room. What's he going to say to Carey Price and Shea Weber? Weber should be Captain. Keeping Max as the Captain is a joke. Carey Price and Shea Weber are two of maybe the top-10 respected people in hockey, especially in Canada. Max as the Captain is like the King of England, all title, no credibility.
  19. Canada looks like Floyd Mayweather-boring as sin and impossible to beat. They've got 2/3rd of the league's talent and they're all buying into the system.
