  1. It has been moving further and further in that direction since Clarence Campbell left office - love him or hate him, he understood the game!
  2. They don't know how to build them like they used to - that's for sure!
  3. I love Disney - watched it growing up and still think it is a fabulous film company. It's just the Mighty Ducks thing for me - not the actual company. I should have been a bit more precise in what I wrote.... bowing down with apologies and humility at this time(I need an emoticon now!) GO SENS GO.....
  4. We did quite well actually, but no lunkers this trip. Had a feed of fresh pickerel(walleye to Americans) last night - delicious!!!!!!! Weather was mid 20's Celsius one day, freezing & snow the next, and then hit 32 on Thursday..... all over the map? Bugs were minimal though so that was a bonus!
  5. Been to games at the Forum and Maple Leaf Gardens - both were truly hallowed buildings.... However they were becoming tired in their latter years, especially the Gardens. Was there several times for events and it was a dive. The washrooms were disgusting to say the least! However the worst was the old Buffalo arena - yikes that was a dump.
  6. The Golden Horseshoe region can definitely support an NHL franchise - heck it probably do a better job of it than 3/4 of the one's in the U.S. can, but I have to admit that I highly doubt that they will be coming our way? Hockey sense is nowhere to be found anywhere near the area of the NHL corporate offices.....
  7. Definitely rooting for the Senator's - no way in 'you know where' am I rooting for a franchise that epitomizes the face of Disney = uuugggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Gainey paid what equates to market value - probably a lot less than he would have to on July 1st to get the same talent. Fact is every NHL manager is overpaying for defenceman of this calibre... not just Gainey.
  9. no problem..... uummmhh - yaaa......
  10. Call the cops and give them every detail you can recall!!!!!!!
  11. In Ontario - grade schools, high schools, colleges, and universities start classes right after the September Labour Day weekend(although colleges & universities do so with a week of frosh activities) Grades Kindergarten through 8 finish classes in late June. High Schools are done somewhat earlier than that while the college/universities are done by the end of April in most if not all cases. Some universities have summer terms - we do here at Waterloo, but it is done by early August..... hey I think this thread has been hijacked...... (I need an emoticon - my kingdom for a suitable emoticon!!!!)
  12. It has been like that since the dawn of time - not sure as to the exact reasons for it though?
  13. I may have missed something along the line here as I've been away for quite a while, but I can't get any of my edit/tool features to work? No emoticons or access to any of the tools..... am I doing something wrong or what?
  14. Well I'm glad someone is happy that I'm back - but I would seriously suggest you have the doctor up your meds if that's case? But yeah it was a a great trip to a slice of paradise!
  15. I'm back - fishing was great! Time well spent! It's always better than a week of anything else I've ever tried out there..... Nature, the cottage and some peace & quiet - fish are just a bonus.
  16. Pronger got what the league needed to give him - a suspension for a dirty cheap shot. The CHA claims it is clamping down on head shots and rightly so - I've spent a long time coaching & managing at several levels in the organization and say it is about time we eliminated this crap from the game. But then we have the NHL which continues to allow it to go on with minimal punishment, as well as players who have no remorse for their actions, or even worse any comprehension as to the potential damage such hits can have. Shame on the NHL for there inaction and leniency for this garbage - how can we ever hope to eliminate it at the lowest level when the very heroes they emulate get away with it continuously? It should have been more than one game!
  17. Grew up there so I'm used to it! Supposed to hit close to 25 Celsius midweek but it will be cool in the evenings when we go for walleye... We are well prepared for it - I hope? :?- Was bad last year though - snow storm put a damper on that trip! We take long johns and heavy clothes for this time of year Nights will be cold.....
  18. Yeah that's the town, but our cottage is about 40 miles south east of there on a small lake that flows into Lake Temiskaming which is the headwaters of the Ottawa River system. Only four cottages on the lake so very private!
  19. Walleye (pickerel to most of us) and some pike/lake trout too......
  20. Only problem is I have to take the overnight bus north this year - Greyhound here to Toronto and then the Northlander to New Liskeard. I dread hanging with that unique bus crowd - such special people? My buddy can't go north until Sunday so we are saving having 2 vehicles to drive back home. I'd prefer the train north as it is a nice relaxing trip - but they have made the damn connections in Toronto almost impossible to make. IDIOTS!!!!! See ya late & have fun discussing the playoffs & the Habs guys(and gals too?).....
  21. naw - I can take a joke..... I know when I've heard the definitive & absolute statement?
  22. Well - I have opinions but I'm never so arrogant as to think they are the absolute & definitive statement. So I just end it with a question mark - like this? Whether we catch 'em or not it is always a lot of fun enjoying the beauty of this creation.... p.s. I'll just leave myself logged on somewhere so that way you'll wonder where I'm lurking - much like the lunkers we're chasing?
  23. Well I'll be back in about 10 days - I'm going fishing in northern Ontario. Off to the cottage for our annual spring time walleye trip. No TV so it will be hard to follow the playoffs - radio reception isn't the greatest there? Talk to ya later gang...... as if I'll by missed all that much right? Go Sens, Go Wings - hopefully they'll be playing when I get back (there my true colours this spring have been revealed....) :hlogo:
  24. Indeed - noble thoughts and precepts to indeed live by...... Unfortunately the Falwell's of this world have sunk well below the bar of what Christianity is all about! They have left those of us who believe painted black with the tar of their poison. I was taught to hate the sin, but still love the sinner no matter what - they have managed to do both and made it seem as if that is the truth.....
