I would love to get Selanne or Lehtinen. But how? So, let's examine who is movable and who isn't. IMO: Touchable: Locke, Dagenais, Ribeiro, Bulis, Sundstrom, Zednik, Grabovsky, Aubin & D'Agostini - also 2006 or 2007 picks. (If Bob mentioned half of these names on the phone with Burke, he'd probably ask Bob where he gets his bomb weed) UnTouchable: Koivu, Kovalev, Ryder, Plekanec, Higgins, Perezhogin, Bégin, A. & S. Kostitsyn, Latendresse, Chipchura & Price. No tradable worth: Bonk, Downey & Murray. The problem is all the touchable players have about as much worth as a pylon right now except for Bulis who I would hate to see go. Anyway, I'm at a loss to see how we can get Selanne. Brian Burke isn't going to want Locke, Dagenais, Ribeiro, Bulis, Sundstrom or Zednik only. So, what do you if you were Gainey? The only solution will hurt. That is, pick a "touchable" to get the return desired. Is it worth it? I don't think so. Why make a sideways move for a potential UFA to make a playoff run that will get us...well, no cup? So, it'd better turn out to be another Kovalev scenario. We MUST be able to lock up a "Selanne" or a "Lehtinen" long term - IMO So, let's keep DREAMING. Maybe Gainey will surprise us.

IMO - The puck must cross the goal line. The puck, the WHOLE puck and nothing but the puck. If the puck was nestled at the end of Gerber's trapper, it's still possible that it was not "entirely over" the line. If that's the case then it falls to "inconclusive" which means NO GOAL. If Canada wanted a goal beyond this question they shouldn't have played a garbage game like that. And they should have gotten the goals. Canada wasn't ripped off. They just played terrible. By the way. I didn't say it in this forum yet but why the Czech's didn't take Pleks is beyond me. Everyone talks of experience internationally. That's funny because of all the games I've watched this Olympics I've noticed a trend...that is, it's hockey. Last time I czeched Pleks plays hockey and he's darned good at it!

More Habs In Turin made history in Torino today. Mark Streit & former habs Paul DiPietro cruised to a 2-0 win over Canada IMO. Did I say "cruised"? Yes I did. Canada didn't really gain the slot. Their point shots were irrelevant. Point passing was irresponsible. They lost the one on one battles. Backdoor and trick plays were intercepted by the Swiss. The Swiss pokechecked Canada in both zones. Forty shots sounds like alot but most of them were not dangerous and Gerber saw them. As for the waived goals? The way Canada played, it's not an excuse. Paul DiPietro scores 2. Streit played a strong game. 3 Stars Gerber 0/40 shots. DiPietro 2 Goals Rick Nash - the best of the...Canada played awful.

Yeah, I know I've been going on about Selanne. But IMO, Montreal is moving in the proper direction. But this is not a projected cup year for them. Of course, you always still try to win the cup...but, the reality is we are not there yet. I'll be the first one to step up and smile if we get "that big, right handed center" you are referring to. But, he'd obviously have to be a high calibre player and the pickins are slim. I guess my true wishes are to get a player of a Selanne calibre type player. That level, so to speak. It'll be interesting to see who Gainey gets for the defence too.

Ovechkin is unacquirable even given the names mentioned IMO. Koivu, Latendresse, Locke, Zednik & Higgins wouldn't get him. Washington knows you build around Ovechkin. If I were McPhee I wouldn't do this trade. I only say Selanne because he's probably easier to acquire at less cost to us than others. Of course, there has been the occasional Chicago rumour. Chicago is lost and Anaheim is on the cusp as we are right now. Anaheim will have to come out of the break with a flat tire if there is to be any Selanne hope. The question is what Burke would want in the return? Or is it Tallon? Will it be Chicago? Anaheim? Jokinen? Under the radar Gainey? I'm so confused. We'll find out soon. Streit is a good player. I'm glad the Habs have him. After all, we've all seen that one timer slap shot. The way the stick bends, that's awesome. Time and time again over the season I've been waiting for those one timers to go in. With a shot like that, it's only a matter of time. I wish Streit would hit the target more. But maybe, just maybe Streit finds his game because of the Olympics. P.S. Komisarek bashers, give it a rest. When Gainey & Carbonneau stepped in Green was fired. The result has been a major improvement for #8 Habs :hlogo:

I say: Selanne. Only because he will be the easiest to acquire in my opinion. This all depends upon whether or not Brian Burke considers the Flash to be "his type of player". Knock on wood I guess.
