Simmonds is very fun to watch. Plays with such a high energy that lifts others around him and is only 24. Coburn, 28 is the shut-down d-man we need who can log lots of minutes and take pressure off Marky and Subban. Talbot, 29 can play all 3 forward positions and is someone to take Plexs' spot on the PK. I'd say make the trade MB, and don't look back.

Exactly, imagine how productive the Gallys and Eller would have been with more ice time and PP time. This season will be an exciting one for those guys. We've never had such exciting young prospects so we're used to talking up free agency and "who should we get?"

Cooke would cause alot of chaos. And we would need an enforcer. Just posted a list of affordable FAs that I thought were worth a look. Don't think any of them would get multi-year contracts for more than 2 or 3 years.

Schultz is still fairly young and should be cheap.. also Mark Fistric could be a solid stay-at-home type with some hitting ability.

There is no need to overspend this off-season especially with the lousy pool of talent this year.

A bit of a stretch with the Kane/Gallagher and Hossa/Collberg comparisons. I meant more in the where they fit in our lineup.. As top six forwards. We need complimentary guys like the ones I mentioned to contend. Warrior, fearless types. Bickell would be a great start.

Size isn't everything, it's how you use it.. they say. We need strong, fearless players that won't back down when the going gets rough, that will go play in the dirty areas and crash the net and play hard 60 minutes a night, every night. Being 6 foot 4 helps but is not always the answer. Look at Gallagher, plays way bigger than his profile shows. Or even Prusty is only 6 feet tall. We need warriors, plain and simple. Bolland is one of those guys, Bickell is one of those guys, Shaw is one of those guys, Saad, Carcillo.. these are the Guys that do the dirty work for the Hawks and we have too few of these types. Once our youngsters hit their potential.. we will have our Toews (Galchenyuk), our Kane (Gallagher), our Hossa (Collberg) and we will challenge this league. We need to trust MB and be patient, our time is coming.

Yeah, it is a pipe dream most likely. But I think we could add our 1st and maybe a young forward (Leblanc) and sweeten the deal. Sasha Barkov if he slips past Nashville or Nichuskin would be amazing for us.
