  1. What reports? Says who? Show me the data from a reliable source on this.
  2. Patrice Brisebois: Montreal Michael Ryder: Tampa Bay Bryan Smolinski: Tampa Bay Mark Streit: Vancouver
  3. Morrison was the unsung hero of that line. Bertuzzi went to the front of the net, Naslund was the finisher, but Morrison made it all click. Think Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns. I'm excited to see where Morrison and Bertuzzi go in free agnecy. if they end up in the same place with a strong finisher/around-the-net guy, there could be another spark.
  4. You probably should have quit on post #231, while you were still ahead. There are so many things wrong with that, and not enough hours in the day to address them all. Might it be time to pull out one of PTG's favourite words?... Jingoism?
  5. Hm. I didn't know he was an admitted habs fan. My lack of access to Pierre McGuire on TV on a regular basis is pretty evident here.
  6. He is not nearly as bad as he could have been. He has turned one pick into 4 now, and has only dropped from #5 to #9.
  7. Pierre McGuire is disgusting. He says he doesn't cheer for anybody, and then gets giddy like a little schoolgirl at a candy store when they take Schenn. If you cheer for the Laffs... just admit it! That's all I ask. Be honest. I'm sure that there are other posts on this, but I didn't see one, and McGuire was doing this just now during the draft.
  8. Lecavalier, Iginla, Ovechkin, and Crosby are the next generation of the Sakics, Yzermans, and Leetches, who are superstar players who are associated with only one team, and are class acts. Good to see the game is in good hands.
  9. According to Sportsnet, The Laffs have made an offer around $7 mil for 1 year. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/06/20/sundin_canadiens/
  10. TSN reporting it's "set to go." http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=241249&amp...os=topStory_nhl
  11. Facts and an unrelated, defeatist, canada-centric conclusion... I shouldn't be suprised anymore.

    Gay Marriage

A comment on Trudeau's statement: While it's true the state has no place in the bedrooms of the nation, that misses the point, and is incomplete. (I'm sure Trudeau addresses this is in the rest of the context of his statement.) Since marriage, as a governmental matter, changes tax liability and a variety fo other legal rights and duties, the state must act, because the legal aspects of marriage are a state matter. The state may very well have no place in the bedroom, but marriage extends beyond the bedroom and into the organization of society, so government has to be involved at least by defining terms and implementing laws. (Whether it's to limit marriage or allow gay marriage is up to the state, I am expressing no opinon on that either way.)
  13. It's funny that some people have religion because it answers the questions "Why are we here?" and "Where did we come from?" and Einstein might be one of the people in the history of humanity best equipped to answer that question without using religion to bridge the gap from known to unknown. He is one of the few people ever who could make a legitimate contention that he didn't need faith to answer some of these fundamental questions.
  14. Another duplicate thread. Could a mod please delete? Thanks.
  15. They'd both be excellent additions. There would be salary cap concerns.
  16. Excellent. At least I understand what you're getting at now, even if I don't really understand why. But at leasat you cleared it up for me. Thank you.
  17. If there's a veiled insult here, I don't get it. Even if it's not veiled, I still don't get it.
  18. Nope. I read up until the argument about whether or not Stealth knew who "Grapes" was and lost interest. Don't worry about it. "Dumb." was incredibly insightful.
  19. Somehow we're fans of the same team, but never agree on anything.
  20. **Visualizes Stealth face down in mud.**
  21. Ron Wilson would be an excellent choice for Colorado's next coach. First: The guy wins. The Avs problem since the lockout has been consistent regular season performance. If they could put together a few more solid performances here and there, they'd be a 3-6 seed more regularly, instead of scraping to get in late in the season. Second: He has fostered goaltenders. Under his eye, Nabokov has been a consistent star, and he juggled Nabokov and Kiprusoff well in 2002-2003. He is more consistent than Quinneville. Third: He has a good balanced system. During his time in San Jose he has allowed both forwards and defensemen to succeed. He isn't all offense or all defense. Fourth: He's experienced. No more of this Tony Granato/Bob Hartley stuff, hiring coaches who have no experience. Bring in a guy who has winning as a head coach in his past. Fifth: Players will respect him. He's been around, he knows what he's doing. Finally: He is a bit more of a task master than any of our coaches since the Avs came here in 95. We need a bit more regimentation because we cannot rely on just pure skill to win anymore. Needless to say, I like John Tortorella too.
  22. Some other "Best european not in the NHL" include: Jiri Dopita Jaroslav Hlinka Neither of those two worked out at all.
  23. You guys are just waiting to see this guy fail. He stood on his head in the first round wearing the big A on his sweater and not the the bleu, blanc, et rouge, and that kills all of you. In case you didn't notice, Budaj pitched a shutout the rest of the way. Theo will start game two, and will not give up more than 2 goals. If the Avalanche fail to get to the third round, nobody will be surprised. If we do, however, then Theo will be a big reason why. I don't care that he was sick today, and really, you all shouldn't either.
