  1. with MTL's cap I'd give him 8x1, but he's probably would be UFA after
  2. do you mean 8 mill per year or 4 per?
  3. As far as I know they could make an official announcement whenever they want (except past the due date). But they'll likely wait the entire week just to keep Bergevin tied up as long as possible.
  4. Precisely the calculated risk Bergevin is acting on. Now maybe it doesn’t work, but given Dundon’s circumstances, worth the try.
  5. If Aho doesn’t work out we should pursue Nikita Gusev. Vegas apparently having cap troubles so may look for a trade. This guy could be a sneaky good pick up
  6. If the Canes are already not liking the contract I wonder if it would take less to entice them. I actually don’t like having to add Danault and a second first. I think many here massively undervalue Danault simply because he’s a 50 point guy. Two 1sts, a 2nd, a 3rd, AND Danault.. Quite steep. Not saying I 100% wouldn’t but it could easily be a trade we lose.
  7. If I were Bergevin I would be doing exactly this. Enticing the Canes with a skewed side deal if they seem like they’ll match. Conditional picks or prospects. Condition being they go to the canes if Aho plays for the Habs next season. THAT would be shrewd GMing. As you say, no one else can negotiate now. Edit: for anyone saying “why not just send Aho a bigger contract offer?” This way is still better because we save capspace.
  8. As Bergevin said, his priority is the Canadiens, the fans, Geoff Molson, not Carolina. I give credit to the guy for having the balls to do something that if successful, is a wildly positive signing. Offer sheets are within the rules. If GMs are gonna throw a hissy fit, it is what it is. If there's even a 5% chance MTL gets Aho for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, you do it. I commend MB for trying. In the mean time I don't get the crying about not signing Gardiner. Gardiner is still available AND MTL has the space to sign him and AHO. Domi could conceivably make an excellent winger moving forward. Tatar - Danault - Gallagher as the 1st, shutdown minute crunching line. Domi - Aho - Armia Scoring line. Armia opens up space for the speedy talented Domi/Aho combo. Still Reasonably responsible. Drouin - Kotkaniemi - Lehkonen/Suzuki/??? exploitation line.
  9. Lets just ignore all the progress the Habs have made over the past year then eh?
  10. Bergevin has been good the last year, sending this offer sheet doesn’t warrant a moron comment. Most wouldn’t have sent it at all. Truth is, Carolina didn’t want to sign Aho to that deal, and MB is trying something outside the box
  11. You wonder why they would say that really. If they want to wait the 7 days, wouldn’t you want to keep Bergevin unsure? Maybe they won’t wait after all
  12. I’d be so upset if all this hype was for Wayne Simmonds.. (5 years ago I would have loved it). Shaw > Simmonds these days. If it isnt Lee, Gardiner or both, count me as disappointed, and a little weary of Bergevin’s decision making for the first time in about a year.
  13. At this point I’m just excited it seems like something’s happening, whether is lee, Duchene, Gardiner I don’t know, but it’ll be fun if we land a big fish regardless! there’s definitely a limit on how much I’d want to spend on some of these guys, but i’ve kind of resigned myself to the fact that it’ll be a bit of an overpay
  14. Well with his mindframe he might opt to go habs/ahl
  15. What do you think the best option is if he doesn't pull a Kotkaniemi and force MTL to keep him? AHL is extremely intriguing, but I can't help but feel like a year in NCAA may be the best for progression. CHL feels like a no - Caufeild needs to mature against men, not kids at this point.
  16. Caufeild’s bread and butter is his shot. He is quick and agile on top of that, and has excellent has, but at the end of the day it’s all about the shot
  17. Several players have slipped, and not necessarily because teams don’t like them, they just liked others better. The fact that there are Lavoie’s and Kaliyev’s on the board probably means it would take more than 46/50 to move into the low 30’s. If we’re high 30’s 46/50 should do the trick
  18. Last few drafts have been kind I think! Juulsen, Poehling, Coconutmiami, and now Caufeild? 3 years ago we were pissed about how barren the cupboards were, and honestly now we have a top 10 prospect group imo
  19. Well, be assured we just drafted the kid who set the all time USDP goal scoring record, ahead of Phil Kessel. And if I’m not mistaken, beat the single season record ahead of Austin Matthews. There are articles out there asking “could Caufeild slip to the flyers at 11?” Well he did slip to 11! And 12, 13, 14. Habs nabbed the best pure goal scorer in the entire draft. I really think he could be a DeBrincat clone. Confident he’s a 30 goal scorer.
  20. Do you think Caufield will do any growing? I mean could he be a 5’10 forward by the time he makes the teams or does he seem like someone who basically tops out at 5’7
  21. This draft was the most erratic I can ever remember, no contest. Legit 3-30 was a minefreild! I feel blessed to have Cole MO Effin CAUFEILD. Guys. I think only Hughes Kakko byram and Turcotte had a higher profile. Like we honestly have a top 10 pick here. If he’s 6 foot Caufield is third OA
  22. Thanks thank thinking of us, seriously! I get you had us in mind! But there’s two levels to this. One you could just link us to the article. OR, if it’s behind a firewall well there’s people trying to make a living. I totally appreciate you trying to do us a favour but just be positive about the source. I know Commandant does a lot of research and I’d like to support him for example. Im not trying to Shit on you, I’m trying to support the Community
  23. Me April first. Since then I though of him as unrealistic. He’s TOO good for 15. He’s a Hab.
