  1. South East Asia is Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, etc ... basically SOUTH...... East Asia. Japan, Korea, and most of China are East Asia. South Asia is India, etc.
  2. I'd agree that not very many north americans know a Korean from a Japanese, but at least they aren't all called Chinese. You usually they get the blanket statement of Asian -- which isn't offensive to other cultures at least.
  3. Holy non-sequitur Batman!?! I have no idea what you are refering to.
  4. As someone just pointed out, he is two years older than many of the people in that league. He is pretty much one of the oldest guys there, so I wouldn't say he is completely out of this world. Also, playing with Kane will help anyone shine ... but still, great for him. Getting great experience, and really polishing up his skills. I look forward to seeing him in Hamilton this season or next!
  5. Lil' #### is very good, but keep in mind that is is hard not to rack up the points when your line mate pots four goals. Kane is unbelievable, and I think #### is benifiting from that. Kane is benifiting from #### too mind you. Conclusion: we need to get Kane in the draft! Hey, they have another game against Erie tomorrow! Hopefully Mosquito bites will get a few more points and move in to second place on the scoring list!
  6. Wow, 4 goals ... and 18 on the season. +16 as well. D'agostini is doing pretty well for his rookie season. Almost scoring at a point per game ... and if he keeps playing well with the extra ice time he got from hooters (big ####), then he should have a real opportunity to shine.
  7. London beats Erie 9-3. Kostitsyn gets 6 points 1 goal, 5 assists. Kane got 7 points including 4 goals (hope we draft him somehow, someway!).
  8. Pretty cool. But pretty expensive too. Gotta figure out a way to share the costs ... there will be copies being shipped about. If it was $75 for the whole season, I'd consider paying that much. But $150 is uncalled for. Unless they have a pay per view option ... cause I really don't have time to watch more than 1 game a week anyway ... I usually listen to games anyway, cause at least I can still do some work. But, as I said ... very coo. The age on internet television is upon us!
  9. Not too sure it is playing out like that. I was surprised he was traveling with the team, but your comments made me thing about it; what Samsonov can do best now is to serve as an example of what happens when you play like a slaker. You eat hot dogs ... even if you make 3 mil. And if any of the yougsters want to take a night off, they have a 3 mil. guy who can step in. Samsonov been paraded in the dog house may have a good psychological affect.
  10. I hope this deep-sixes Boisclaire's campaign. He is a horrible politician. He should have appologized immediately, and admitted that he didn't mean to be offensive. But he is turning this in to a grudge match between him and another person in quebec who is involved in minority rights, and has had a run in with Boisclaire before about funding. However, I know many people in Quebec just won't care. Quebecers, in large, are rather naive when it comes to Asians and racial sensitivity. If I had a buck for everytime any asian person was called Chinese, when they were obviously of some other origins, I'd be fairly rich. 11. I hope that you all realize that the title of this thread includes the name "Boisclair", and not any American politician. If you guys want to debate racism in the American political system, you ought to move it to another thread ... and take all the stuff that has already been written. Because I for one would like to hear what others think of this particular situation ... and I really don't care about Bush and Obama ... at least not in this thread.
  12. It isn't an attempt to be witty. It is a term of endearment. It has far more sass then wit. You don't like it, tough nooggies. I personally find it funny ... i like sass.
  13. There is no 44 on the team. There is an 88, and that would be Kane ... he would compliment anyone. A young Koivu. Here is the team roster with jersey #: http://www.londonknights.com/statistics_skaters.asp
  14. The problem is that Asians do not have slanting eyes. If you know what slanting means, you would recognize it easily as a stereotype ... like French people can't fight ... both stereotypes. I also think that their are racist undertones to what he said. He seems to be afraid of being over-run by Asians. Well it does look like whitie is dying out ... but it is not anyone else's' fault that we don't want to have more than 1-2 children per couple. And Boisclaire should not be using scare tactics of Asains taking over to encourage more reproduction: he should give heavy tax breaks on people who want a large family, and encourage a culture of reproduction. For years a woman who stayed home as a house wife and raised children was seen as a slacker, or someone who had no economic or political power. You want your population to grow? Make mother-hood highly respectable! And make it cost effective.
  15. When was the UK truely united? Never in my recollection. That being said, Scotland will suffer if it goes independent from the UK.
  16. He got two more goals last night in a 7-5 win. Hitmen have 2 more games (I think), so White still has a chance to have the league scoring title over Hamille. Go White, go!
  17. I don't like drill sargents. Don't like military life either. Most Canadians agree. Most Canadians do want the provinces to be so neutered as to be mere figureheads. The best way to get what you need is to have the people neer contral some power. Not people 2000 kms away who do not share or know your concerns. Buddhe says, middle path is the way to enlightenment.
  18. There was some speculation about Theo's broken heel. And Mulder was in charge then. It may not be a ruse by Kovalev, but by Kovalev and the team. Makes it easier for him to walk away, continue to get paid, and not spread any bad press. Kovalev was on his way out anyway. The Ch is no where near close to his heart ... unless he keeps his wallet in his breast pocket. Love Kovalev in theory ... just didn't feel any passion from him very often. Also, those last comments he made couldn't have sat well with anyone. He was thinking of asking for a trade?!? That is like admitting you were thinking of robbing a bank ... the thought does count for something. If he does have vertigo, I hope it isn't serious. Having to retire due to injury bites.
  19. Agreed ... but the point is "how strong". When decisions are made on how to educate our youth, when Quebec has some cultural differences, it risks being to invasive, and not being sensitive to particular needs. Balance is very important. Furthermore, Canada is way more centralist that the US. The states have way more power than the provinces. In Canada, the cities have the least amount of power. Very problematic. Also, unions can work ... at least they are working in Europe for the time being. Only time will tell the rest.
  20. Big brothers = Souray, Begin, Koivu. Future will be telling ...
  21. I think it is a blessing in diguise. I think that Kovalev has lost the passion for hocket. It may even be a ruse. If he is out, this will free up a roster spot for the youngsters. It may affect our chances this year, but we don't really have much of a chance this year anyway, and the experience that the youngsters will get will be invaluable.
  22. Forget about the free agent market for centers. I predict Grabovski will be up next year. Also, I think we will waive Samsonov, and if he clears, they should send him to the minors. Buying him out will hit our cap ... and riding the bus for a while might give him a bit of humility. If we do hit the free agent market, it should be for a smart puck-handling D. We don't have anything in our system that is ready to come up that fits that bill, and we do need someone. Thing is that it might be too costly ... and no one wants to come to Quebec's crazy media, taxes, weather, and flu galore. Also, I hope we keep Bonk, unless Chipchura is ready to make the move. But I think he could do with another year in Hamilton. But truth be told, the next month will determine what will happen to the team this summer.
  23. Like simonus said, Quebec pays a lot in to the pot. Now they are trying to get back as much as possible. Quebec, for the most part, puts more in the pot than it gets back. Ontario, Alberta, Quebec and BC are the big provinces in terms of how much they put in. Others take out way more than they put in. Another aspect of this debate is that the provinces want to be big boys and decide for themselves how they spend their dough, and the federal government wants to continue deciding for them. So part of the debate is about pulling out as much as possible: meaning, taking power back from the federalist government. The US political system is way different from the Canadian system. There is a lot of subtelties ... you'd have to study for quite a while to figure out most of it. I've followed it my whole life and I still don't know most of what goes on. BTW, Syndica is UNION on English. I hope that the unions continue to take a serious ass kicking in Quebec. Les Invasion de Barbars had it right on when it compared the unions to gansters in Quebec. Also, students need to have their asses kicked a bit too. They always want things for cheap, but they don't care about the watering down of the entire education system. You pay for what you get is not alwasy completely wrong. A little more paying would go a lond way to making things better. Also, I think more aggressive stances need to be taken on students. Too many students reep the rewards of a cheap education system in Quebec, and then leave to greener pastures. Students should be held accountable for this. If they get a cheap education they should continue to work in the province for 5 out of 10 years, or something like that. [/rant]
  24. We already had a few coke head weenies on our team, and none of them worked out ... bow if they guy's last name was Solo, I'd be all over that idea.
