Ya, what a bummer....this would have been such a good time for the HABS to get it together and catch the Sabers. Instead Ottawa and Carolina are up our butts and almost sure to catch us as Atlanta passes us. If the Habs aren't carefull we could be battling for the eight spot, Bruins, Tampa, N.Y, even the LAFFS are not far behind........All of the sudden our great season looks to be quite average compared to the other teams.

Couldn't agree more. Souray's value will get less and less from here to the end of the season. I think he is not only surprising the media and fans with his career season but himself too. IT WON'T LAST. He is not the real deal ooooozing with genuine talent. Bob should trade him now as a 1st line ALL STAR. What we get in return could make us contenders. A second line center who will challenge Koivu for the first line and a prospect defenseman or high draft pick. Think about it for a second. A talented center will ignite any line the habs put him on. Take pressure off the first line which will produce more goals and consistent play from everyone. Enough goals to exceed what Souray has given us up to now. With the right player we will not miss him at all. We may have to wait a little longer to see what teams are out of the playoff picture....That way Gainey will be able to pick off a true star and get more bang for his buck. If Gainey is going to shell out five million to someone next year I would rather give it to someone that is going to help put a few Habs in the top twenty scorers, not Souray who is over-achieving.

Downey is NOT a good fighter. He is a dancer. I would like the Habs to fill that fighter/decent player role with someone that is a little more intimidating. Why the debate?

That's what is cool about the salary cap. A good GM becomes so much more important now then before. Glad we have Gainey. You can't buy a team anymore. You need to build strategically and stay within a budget. At times a gambling game that you need to be great at. Fortunatly we have a lot of kids coming up that are really really good and allow the habs to possibly screw up but not screw up the next ten years. I love the new NHL. We need to get rid of Niinimaa fast. Murray and Downey? Gauthier brings up a good point on why they are important to the team, we can't really let either of them go and they are cheap. O and by the way......Pat Hickey is a loser. His article on the front page sounds like it was written by a ten year old fan. Get rid of him along with Janni.

Yes, for an expierienced NHL defender that makes almost 3 million dollars and sits in the press box. Sorry, that's not smart. I understand why things are the way they are but it's still not smart. Considering his cost, I just don't think we need him....I would rather have Maxim up, murray down and ninimaa gone. The only part that sucks is if we give away Ninnamaa that would mean we got nothing fo Ribs. But hey let's live in the moment. Ribs atittude was traded away and good riddance. Same with Theo. I'll have to ceck that out. All these guys at some point get media training and that's fine. I just hate the bull. Yu can smell it a mile away, at the same time you know when it's sincere. Let's just say for some crazy reason he did come to the Habs in March. His song would change completely and he would say all the good things that one should say about Montreal media. Yes a hockey team!!!! 24 to 30+ guys that need to work together like a fine tuned machine. Usually there are leaders and followers. Fights, bad atitudes, blow -ups, These guys are young kids in thier 20's. and at times are probably immature. Do you think Carbo or Gainey want to deal with that. I also have a lot of respect for Koivu and the man he is. So just on the fact he has chosen Rivet as a best friend says a lot to me about Rivet. So to answer your question. There is more group therapy involved then you think. Through-out the season I'm sure Rivet is called upon to help put out fires in the dressing room time and time again . To some he may not be worth 2 million, but he is not that bad of a defenseman. Not the way you all make him sound.
