  1. Great vote of confidence in Perezhogin. Hopefully this will get the second line producing on a consistent basis. I'm really liking this lineup.
  2. The Habs will have little presure on them for this game, but if they can pull off a win EVERYBODY is going to take notice. It's great to be cheering for a real contender again!
  3. I didn't know she passed away yesterday. She is the very personification of dignified strength. God bless.
  4. Always been found of stereotypical british names for pets. Don't know why, just think that's funny. My terrier is named Winston. So, in that vain, I'd suggest Jeffrey, Basil, Alistair, George, Harold, Rupert or something of the sort.
  5. Admins, please sign this guy up right now for the hall of fame. I think it's apparent to everybody that he is hands down the best new poster in years. :king: (BTW - Law) Cool, where do you go to law school Simonus? I did my law degree here in Quebec and a post-grad in the UK, but have many friends in US universities or private practice.
  6. That was a salary thing as Langdon makes the league minimum $450,000 and the Devils are at the wall with the cap and need to shed players. I don't think this reflects badly on Oliwa.
  7. I believe this is the last year on his contract, but I am not sure. I agree, we would not want an $830,000 tough guy in the long run but, but I think he could be a usefull addition this year.
  8. The NJ Devils have sent him down to the minors and he can currently be claimed on waivers by any other team. The Habs' goon situation is far from solid, but, depending on the perspective, that may also be far from important. Oliwa is a proven tough guy and would be an upgrade at the goon position for the Habs, Ivanans upcoming return notwithstanding. Oliwa's problem is that he makes $830,000 a year. Is he worth that much to the Habs? I think it's clear that he would be quite welcomed on the Habs who could use a goon with his reputation, I just don't know about the price. I would give it serious consideration though and be inclined to go for it. What do you guys think?
  9. Neither do I, especially not if we would have to give one of our current top 4 D-man to get him (Markov excluded as he won't move). Don't think he would be much of an upgrade.
  10. Got the feeling that the Isles would ask for a D-man in return for Niinima. Maybe strait up for Souray or a Rivet/Hainsey package.
  11. Talk to Shortcat, he'll tell you what to do when a wedding comes in the way of a game:)
  12. They could very well both resign with Colorado before they ever become free agents. By droping the option the Avs saved 700,000$ in cap space this year (cause its the average of a player's salary throughout his contract that counts for each year and the option year -which counts in this average- was at a higher amount). So they get an extra 700,000$ cap wiggle room this year and the players don't lose anything. For all we know the Avs might just re-offer the same amount as the option prior to year's end, but as a seperate contract......that way they just got the extra wiggle room this year for "free". Sakic for one has already expressed his desire to finish his career with the Avs organization and I think that that is a very very strong possibility. Blake may be one to potentially move but we should remember that he will be 36 next year.
  13. Good reply:/) They may well be after me after all, just don't think they are reflecting that though number 79 in this instance.
  14. All agaisnt us. Look around. All of them. They are all against us!!!!!
  15. I really wouln't read too much into this. It just seems to be a simple hot/cold point production meter (the only thing stated after "cold" or "hot" is the number of points in the last few games). No crime here. Don't think the aim was to create a sophisticated system of evaluation of all parts of a players game or to have an editor full time (and overtime) constantly updating all players. Just a simple point production evaluator which can be nice for those keeping hockey pools.

  17. I think adding first class checkers to the team was one of Gretzky's best moves and an important reason for Canada's winning run under his reign. Every team needs a shut down third line to win no matter who your top flight scorers are. I'm sure Gretzky can find better checkers than these guys though. I'd rather have Primeau than of those guys. Maybe we can give Canadian citizenship to Bulis-Bonk-Sundstrom:)

  19. I just don't like that he's not wearing a visor. Would hate to lose him to an eye injury. Those things should be mandatory.
  20. I'd agree that a regular "post-game thread" to discuss the game would be a good idea. Post game analysis just seem to get completely lost in the huge game threats and I suspect a lot of people who didn't follow the game threat just move on without really making a return on the game for lack of having followed the discussions. 21. As I understand it, these rankings reflect a team's strenght "as of now" and are not simply a report card for the past week notwithstanding anything else. I can understand why a team would score better than the standings would indicate if they are seen to be on the rise and currently better tha their standings, but in no way should Carolina be seen as the third best team in the league right now. Toronto shouln't be seen as the second best team in the league now either. Canucks are better than the 17th best team in the league now. And it goes on.
  22. These rankings generally make sense to me (and not just cause of the Habs/Leafs rankings). TSN has issues to sort out with their system.....they are getting wacky results down there.
  23. I don't think a major trade will be happening anytime soon, but, for argument's sake, I would think that Zednik and Sourray are also "trade material" in appropriate circumstances for the habs.
  24. I never make predictions. .....but I'll say Habs 4 (Higgins -from a nice feed from Dags:), Kovalev2, Ryder) Bruins 2 (Bergeron, Slegr)
