  1. What did the Habs owe to the Rangers? They accepted a trade proposal of a later 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick for an earlier 2nd round pick. That's it. Do we owe them anything for failing to properly evaluate Latendresse? I think not!
  2. The deal was made to make room for either Perezhogin or Latendresse (if we take for granted that the team will have 2 goalies, 7 d-man, and 14 forwards -of which a goon, Plekanec, Higgings, Dags and the regular vets will be part). In my sense, the fact that Hossa was traded preseason is because of an immediate need (otherwise I don't think they would have traded Hossa preseason at discount). Latendresse brings something immediately that the team is otherwise lacking, being rough play by a talented forward. This is why Hossa was traded prior to season's start....so that that gap can be filled this year. Hossa's value would have gone up with a decent year, they could have traded him mid year for more. Perezhogin doesn't fill an immediate need, Latendresse does. BTW, I also think that sending Latendresse back to juniors is what's best for his development and the team (especially if keeping him now means dealing a prospect at discount), but making room for him this year is by far the most probable conclusion I can draw from today's trade for the above reasons.

  4. This deal is all about making room for Latendresse. If we take for granted that a goon, Higgins and Plekanec are on the team......this deal is either about Perezhogin or Latendresse. Don't think Hossa was traded over Perezhogin. He was traded so that Latendresse's rough play can be part of the Habs this season.
  5. Horrible, horrible move! I don't see the need to find Latendresse a spot NOW especially at the expence of loosing a promissing Hossa. This is way too shortsighted and reeks lack of patience. If Hossa had a good first half to the season, they could have gotten a lot more for him. There was no need to rush this!
  6. Think Kovalev, Ryder, Dags and Perezhogin have so far showed the most potential on shootouts. Surprisingly, have found Ribs to be just brutal so far.
  7. Rooster, two thumbs up for an interesting lineup. But what about Mr. Zednik? This should be a year he excells in the NHL if they stop the obstruction that goes on. I have finally started to like this guy and cannot see how he would be taken off the first line. I agree with your lines except I would keep Zendnik on the line and take Perezhogin off. My line up was more a "wishfull thinking" lineup if all the kids play and develop up to expectations. If that is the case, I think a Zednik (think Perezhogin can be a better fit on that line than Zednik as he can be a better playmaker than Zednik while also scoring some....just see better chemistry on that line with Perezhogin in) and Sundstrom can become trade bait. I don't think that that would be the starting lineup this year. But if the kids develop according to plan, that's what I would eventually like to see.
  8. I'd love to eventually see the following forward line up: Perezhogin-Koivu-Kovalev Latendresse-Ribs-Ryder Bulis-Bonk-Hossa Higgins-Begin-Plekanec with Dags and vandermeer as reservists. Don't think that that will happen (especially not for the begining of this year) and prudent old me would send Tender down to the Q and Perezhogin down to the AHL for season start in order not to loose anyone to waivers (give them at least half a season with the club).
  9. Actually he might sign for 1.9M$ (which would *only* be two 1st rounds)....but Boston would probably match that offer.
  10. Here is the compensation table for RFA: OFFER COMPENSATION $551,076 or below None Over $551,076 - $757,729 Third-round choice Over $757,729 - $895,498 Second-round choice Over $895,498 - $1,102,152 First-round choice Over $1,102,152 - $1,377,689 First-and third-round choices Over $1,377,689 - $1,653,227 First-and second-round choices Over $1,653,227 - $1,928,765 Two first-round choices Over $1,928,765 - $2,342,071 Two first-round and one second-round choice Over $2,342,071 Three first-round choices Each additional $1,377,689 One additional first- round choice to a maximum of five So Boynton would be at least two 1st round AND a 2nd round. and remember, these would be going to the Bruins!
  11. This is crazy! Feels like they are playing in the middle of the desert with nobody watching.....no actually the NHL already has a team in the middle of the desert with nobody watching:)
  12. espn now has it tied with just over 3 minutes left in the second.
  13. Either the game is going on or espn is predicting the future....they are into the second period now with the Habs leading 1-0.
  14. I also think the Bruins will have a strong year. From the bit that I bothered to read RDS' talkbacks and comments posted there, I can say that it was amongst the worst crap I ever layed eyes on (the stupidities actually made my stomach turn). The fans posting on that site are ridiculous.
  15. It appears that that is the Canadian Press' rankings (which Sportsnet picked up). Did anybody else see SI rank Nashville 5th in the NHL?
  16. Agreed. Plus Perezhogin making the team most probably means that Dags is out of Montreal. Now if Dags is having a bad year, Perezhogin can always be brought up to replace him. This doesn't work the other way around. Just look for Perezhogin and Latendresse to both have super games tonight to screw up these nice little plans
  17. I also think he is a solid prospect, but if he doesn't have a noticeable night with Koivu and Kovalev tonight.....I think he will have definitely dropped being Dags (and Latendresse if he is on again) for the 2nd line spot. That will mean Hamilton for the start of the season, taking nothing away from his future potential. [Edited on 2005/9/28 by Rooster]
  18. Just like last night was a huge night for Danis (in terms of importance towards the palyer's evaluation), tonight will be a huge night for Perezhogin. If he doesn't shine, he'll be in Hamilton for the start of the season.
  19. If Perezhogin is on the first line with Koivu and Kovalev, I figure tonight is his shot to prove that he should stay with the club (or rather to prove that he shouln't be sent down). Ribs was off last night, so Perezhogin's so-so night can be excused. But if he doesn't shine tonight with Koivu and Kovalev, I believe he will start the season in Hamilton. 20. I'd hate to see 2 of 14 forward spots being taken by enforcers. Having one guy around is absolutely necessary. Having two around, with the pletora of forward talent we have, is absolutely unnecessary.
  21. I see your point. It is hard to gauge what is asked as we are not privy to negotiations. Think a Zednick, Ribs or Ryder (with a Sundstrom possibly thrown in if the team is looking to shore up it's third line) is very good bait (especially for a team with little depth). Think either of those players can be more easily replaced with the habs and bring less of the little things that make a team great. It's not that I wouln't trade Bulis, it's just that he's not one I would put on the table lightly. The offer would have to be sweet. Anyway, he looks set for a good year which will make his stock go up so he shouln't be dealt now in any event. [Edited on 2005/9/28 by Rooster] [Edited on 2005/9/28 by Rooster]
  22. I wouln't trade Bulis at all. He is a great 2 way player that should also have a very good offensive year with Bonk. He brings a lot to this team. Heck, I'd trade any of Zednick, Ribs, Ryder, Dags, Sundstrom or Begin of the veteran forwards before Bulis. I'd qualify Bulis as one of the core players of the team and I wouln't mess with the core.
  23. Neither Hainsey nor Streit are playing? I'd watch out for the Bonk line, think those guys are primed for another great night. [Edited on 2005/9/28 by Rooster]
  24. :clap:Respect to you my friend:clap: Your wife ever find out? If that would have been my gf:nono: .....my life would have ended there.
  25. From the TSN article: "Thun said that he was speaking to clubs about signing Boynton, who is a restricted free-agent to an offer sheet. If that were to happen the Bruins would have the right to match, or compensate the Bruins with a pair of first-round draft picks in 2006 and 2007. Bruins general manager Mike O'Connell has stated that he has no interest in dealing Boynton." If that is accurate, he is a RFA and compensation (for the type of deal he would likely get) is 2 first round draft picks. Don't think there is much (if any) chance of Montreal getting him. The Bruins would match the offer, especially if not matching would mean he ends up with a division rival. Two 1st round picks is a bit expensive too (but worth it I think, he's only 26 years old).
