  1. Macaskill, you are correct I was thinking Lindberg but a brain cramp came up and I went back to the older Penguins days.:guru: I also remember some of my favorite players in the past Peter Lee and Rod Shutt on the Pens. Not great players but hard working guys who tried to make that team respectable. I am hoping with Jose signing Mr. Ryder takes the plunge and gives the Habs a chance to sign him. If it is onlyone year so be it. I want him to stay, however this new free agent NHL CBA will enable us to get someone of his capabilities next season. The big news is JOSE's Back! Go :hlogo: Go
  2. I never make tybo's either, bad NBC Bad! Bad! Still it will be interesting to see what NBC is cooking up for broadcasts. At least they wont be Leaf biased like every CBC game.
  3. I too am glad to hear this. Jose is the face of our team. I know there are other fabulous players on the team. The upside of Jose having three great years in the new NHL gives us a chance to win the cup. I think Montreal is going to dissapoint some teams in our division that do not make the playoffs. We are goalie rich with Huet, Price, Danis, Hedburg.. wow the list goes on if these guys become NHL calibre! Go :hlogo: Go
  4. Aw Rats, it wont take the entire HTML here. You have to got to http://www.canada.com and click on "The Habs" for the full article. Sorry to the group.
  5. Bulis_the_Habbie my new friend. Are you picking on me???? I have no clue what you are saying unless you are talking about the older article. If you check out the link I had posted, you would have noticed this is a newer article to counter the one I think you are talking about. Jose wanted to set the record straight. In my worst nightmare I feel you may be right in that if he does not get his money he will walk. The new one is posted at: http://www.canada.com/sports/hockey/canadi...a7-14bb1443e9c1 No harm done as you do have good taste in hockey teams! :hlogo: Hey I just noticed montrealgazette.com redirects to canada.com hmmmmm....
  6. Bulis_the_Habbie good post. I didnt remember him being with the ISLES. beckham, I see your point and it does make sense that a goalie of equal size and equivalent style would be a good mentor. Makes sense to me now. What I have is total confusion I hope you can help with. When did Olaf become a coach and when did he coach Price? This is where you lost me.....:?-
  7. HabsfaninTO I feel your pain. The Leaf crap we have to put up with is incredible. I dont think the team is -CENSORED- as you so quaintly expressed. With Sundin at centre they are still pretty good. What they have to do is get the 55 centres on th team to play net, defence, penalty kill, power play and shudder the thought, wing! Oh well, their problem not ours. I want to see our young guns beat the Leafs so bad, and to send "OH MY SORE BACK" Belfor to the shower early every game they play. P.S. I put the link picture you posted as a Windows background on our company's shippers computer. That Leaf fan he is! Go :hlogo: Go
  8. This was just in on the Fourth Period. they are usually slow on this stuff and I have not checked out the Montreal Gazette yet. September 1, 2005 Theodore downplays demand-reports TheFourthPeriod.com Jose Theodore is downplaying a report in yesterday's Journal de Montreal that suggested he'd explore free agency next summer if the Habs didn't give him a long-term contract. According to today's Montreal Gazette, Theodore isn't going anywhere. Full Story: http://thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl050901.html
  9. puck7x anything you post is definitely appreciated. Fortunately our lives do not center around sports so time limitations on what someone can contribute is the key factor. I wish I could do many things for the group however I am limited in my abilities. I am looking at Bulldog tickets and will find out from them if I can bring my DSLR camera in with my 500mm lense. Close up shots would be fun. Is CJAD a good radio station for Habs preseason? I get this station on the web and listen to habs games quite abit.
  10. This is a Kool mask! I like it. Thanks for posting it for us. I think he will help Pittsburg if he can stay healthy.
  11. Is it just me or are some teams going to pay for these long contracts starting next year? Consider this, teams are dropping prices on some tickets. This equates to less revenues next year, thus the cap coming down. Forget the big market teams they always sell out so this is just a push compared to next years revenues. Does anyone really think Atlanta, Florida and Pheonix are going to have great attendance? If the Habs can keep a few 1 year contracts going again next year, our team should be able to compete for very good free agents or keep their talented young guys over the next few years. Locking up everyone for 3 to 5 years should not be the plan. I think teams like the Flyers are going to really pay if these slow defenceman dont work out for them over the next year.
  12. " Price has already been coached for a year by Olaf Kolzig. Based on career performance, Melanscon should just leave Carey alone. Rollie wasn't exactly a Hall of Fame goaltender." beckham when you make comments like this you should not contradict yourself. If Price like Theo is already great, what did Godzilla have to do with anything? Godzilla has done nothing for washington, Playoffs 20W 24L and 2.14 GAA from what I remember. A very good goalie but not someone I consider has done anything in his career yet. If a goalie is great nobody is going to make him better if I read your comments right. This would make me in 100% agreement with you. Older goalies can show him how forwards cheat and how to protect yourself when guys like Tie Dummy crash the net. (Hey he is a Leaf and is still young compared to others on the team)
  13. What ever happened to Chouinard? His stats looked good years ago, did he ever make it into the NHL. I am assuming he is no longer with the team as I have not heard anything about him.
  14. I like Langenbrunner too, but the trade they made to get him was to help NJ win a cup. They traded Arnott which hurt them but I cannot see them giving up on Langenbrunner just yet. Just like the guy I would want, Madden which is not happening any time soon. If nothing else happens I am content with this roster. I expect speed to be a key to our team.
  15. My opinion is that you cannot replace Jose. Let him sign the 1-year contract then negotiate a long term deal so that he can hit the ice. He looks to be that we can take for his word if he wants to stay. That is the biggest thing about the new CBA. We are going to have to think like fans of the NBA. Maxxed out contract (That one player salary to match % of Cap maximum), capped out (Total salary)and attracting big name free agents. Going to be very interesting over the next 24 months. Go :hlogo: Go
  16. From: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/32...5p-280821c.html Jagr is the only player in the NHL whose salary for the upcoming season - reduced by the collectively bargained 24% rollback - exceeds the $7.8 million individual player cap. But the Daily News has learned that a grandfather clause on existing contracts ensures that he'll get the entire $8.36 million he's due. And that, for the purpose of calculating their room under the $39 million team cap, the Rangers only will be charged the amount they pay him - approximately $4.4 million. The Washington Capitals agreed to pay $4 million of Jagr's annual salary as part of the January 2004 trade that sent him to New York. But that $4 million won't be charged against the Caps' cap. However, it will be included in the league-wide calculation of total player costs, which is capped at 54% of league revenues and reimbursable to owners via a periodic escrowing.
  17. Good work using those spidey senses Spiderman getting the perfect angle. What is with those pads? Kind of strange looking. I bet he keeps them white so they blend into the rink.
  18. I was just looking this over on http://www.canadiens.com our hockey shrine away from this hockey shrine. I am drooling over what kind of goalie Carey Price will turn out to be under Roland Melanson's guidance. I have read so much about our forwards it is going to be fun to see how he develops. :hlogo: I love using the HABS logo!
  19. Wow thanks for posting this sakiqc, much effort went in to the lines. I am amazed how good Boston looks since they had virtually noone signed going into this year. I like our plan to develop the young guys and move forward to the playoffs again. With all the big names signing Iggy, Vincent, Joe thorton; I wonder what teams like the Leafs and Washington were thinking about with their supposed plans. Or should I say non-plans, yikes! :hlogo:
  20. I loved the outdoor game against Edmonton with all the older oilers there and the Great Ones daughter singing. Jose with the toque on top his mask was classic and of course the win. All of a sudden other teams wanted to try this but yet to see them follow through. I'm going to buy that classic this weekend if I can find it.
  21. You bad person having such thoughts. If we lose him it will not be the worst disaster Montreal will have faced. We are strong in young goalies but we do need a couple of years to bring them along. At worst I hope we can sign him to two years so that we can bring Danis and Hedberg along. Price would be roughly 3-5 years away so we dont want to rush him into the fire. I think if he does sign for 1 year, he will probably re-sign with the Habs again next year. It is afterall this is his hometown hockey team and may play to the teams advantage.
  22. Too bad we couldn't get him for $4million a year. That would be a steal for a offensively gifted player like him. I wouldnt pay any more than that as his defence is ?
  23. I know we have lots of forwards but you would have to make room for a guy like Madden. A scoring checker who is a scrapper for the puck in any situation. This guy is good....
  24. I hope it is to say Jose is signed for 5 years. I dont want to go through the Patrick Roy thing again as I really like our goaltending now and in the future. It is one of the brightest spots of our team.:hlogo:
  25. Trizzak reminded me about that trade and the salary they are picking up. Does this go against Washingtons cap? If so another thread asked who will be the worst team and I think we know who that might be.
