  1. Once again, the not-so-subtle hint that someone else needs to do the GDT for tonight's game...
  2. Smoley hokes, they pulled off a win. After going down 2-0, Novak, Dumont, Nattinen (with 1:16 left in regulation), and Mitera (EN) all scored, make the final 4-2 Hamilton. The Bulldogs are now 6 points out of 8th but still sit 14th in the conference...they need a miracle and then some.
  3. Here's a shocker: Mayer lets in a softie.
  4. As usual, you seem to be offering well less than teams would accept for their top players not to mention Pittsburgh doesn't have the cap space moving forward to take on a $5 million dollar winger without shedding any salary of note in return. Plus, guys like Weber and Nokelainen have very minimal to absolutely no value in a deal. Nokelainen was more or less dealt for a 7th round pick - that's not going to sway anyone to do anything.
  5. It appears Carriere takes over as Hamilton GM for the rest of the year, very little was mentioned about it...Jodoin suggested he'd be campaigning to him to get some help when Darche/Moen return next week.
  6. I didn't even remember the Bulldogs played tonight until just now, wonder if they'll mention Gauthier's firing since he was Hamilton's GM as well. Active scoring leaders: Goals: Andreas Engqvist (19) Assists: Brian Willsie (23) Points: Andreas Engqvist (37) +/-: Robert Slaney (+3) PIMS: Zack FitzGerald (235) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Matt Fraser (31) Assists: Travis Morin (48) Points: Travis Morin (58) +/-: Francis Wathier (+1) PIMS: Luke Gazdic (100) Puck drop is at 8:30 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/
  7. For sure. One trend I've noticed is that teams with former NHL'ers as owners seem to be the ones to buck the trend (look at London for example). There have long been rumblings about those teams 'buying' players with max scholarship packages for the players and any of their siblings. I haven't seen too much speculation in the QMJHL about it but the accusations are more than prevalent in the OHL. I know they've had a rather good luck of imports over the years (Radulov, the Bashkirov's, Grigorenko, Stefanovich, even Kugryshev), one that probably can't be matched by any CHL squad. I'm a bit of a natural skeptic at heart so I have to wonder how they were able to hit so many home runs with the imports, knowing the speculation exists around the OHL I can't help but wonder if it comes into play in the other CHL leagues too. For me, that tarnishes things a bit but he more assuredly deserves some good credit for his success nonetheless.
  8. This will be the final year of those overages thankfully.
  9. That was fast, Savard already declaring that the new GM has to speak French. My concerns didn't take long to be proven correct...
  10. That's the logical guess for sure.
  11. Because evidently we didn't already have enough changes behind the bench this year...glad to see Carriere is sticking around though, I do like his track record. I wouldn't discount him from the full-time discussion. Gainey is also going to stay with the club in a lesser capacity.
  12. Serge Savard to join the team as an advisor. Not sure I like where this is going already...
  13. If anyone could post some direct quotes from the presser, please post them here. I won't be able to listen to/see it but I can edit the article on the site with anything pertinent. Thanks.
  14. 3-2 Rampage is the final, safe to say Mayer's early and predictable struggles were costly. Slaney/Dame-Malka with the goals for the Bulldogs.
  15. 2-0 Rampage after 1, Bulldogs will be on the PP to start the 2nd.
  16. And another softie makes it 2 goals on 5 shots. Can we have Delmas play already?
  17. The injury situation as quickly as I could transcribe it from the broadcast: Callahan, DTD, lower body Conboy, season, lower body Hendrixx, indefinite, upper body Fortier, DTD, lower body Schultz, DTD, upper body Lawson, DTD, lower body Stafford, DTD, upper body
  18. Masse is in which is good news. Bad news is it's already 1-0 San Antonio on a stinker. Took all of 5:29 to be proven right sadly.
  19. Mayer gets the start for this one, he's due for a bad outing.
  20. Another day, another road game. It's game number who hasn't lost count by now (actually I think it's Game 9) of this never-ending road trip as the Bulldogs travel to San Antonio with the hopes of dealing a blow to one of the teams they're trying to catch for the playoffs. (By the way, there's a 4 way tie for 6th in Hamilton's conference, all 8 points up on the Dogs.) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Andreas Engqvist (19) Assists: Brian Willsie (23) Points: Andreas Engqvist (37) +/-: Flanigan/Slaney/Todd (+2) PIMS: Zack FitzGerald (229) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Bill Thomas (25) Assists: Jonathan Matsumoto (35) Points: Jonathan Matsumoto (55) +/-: Nolan Yonkman (+17) PIMS: Eric Selleck (192) Puck drop is at 8:00 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/
  21. Evidently the second half of that statement is wrong, he signed a 2 year ELC starting next year. There is, however, no mention of him going to Hamilton.
  22. They're not comparables, one was a pending UFA the other a pending RFA. If for some reason they go to arbitration, neither side can use the Rinne deal to make their case. Now in long-term talks it could be brought up but I imagine there are some better comparable options out there.
  23. I don't think so, if Gomez would have played up to expectations he'd be the 'control' player the OP alludes to. Now whether or not he'll be here is another story but the point of what Gomez could mean to the team if he plays better is legit.
  24. Good on St-Denis to feather that pass through but how on earth do three guys get behind the defence?
