  1. Hainsey his an idiot and was hated by his peers. Here's a quick summary of what I read about him during is stay in Quebec city a few years ago. 1) Walked around with a big head attitude and everybody hated him 2) never worked nor practiced hard 3) didn't listen to a single thing the coach were telling him 4) spent is time eating junk and chasing women 5) when he left Quebec city, apparently is apartment was a complete mess with a bunch of pizza boxes and used condoms everywhere I for one am glad that he's gone. Don't need an idiot like that in the system. So what if he has talent, he doesn't have the head that needs to come with it. Also, he's just a bad influence for the others and doesn't contribute to a good team chemistry, which his very important, especillay in the playoffs. After last night's game, I'm more upset that we lost Beauchemin....
  2. Zednik a bonafide 1st line guy? Ribeiro and 2nd line center? Wow when did this happen? I would even add when did Souray become a number 3 D on a good team? I think you're over estimating your Habs players Redlight60....I would make that trade in a flash. We might be giving a little more then what Marleau is worth, but not that much and we can afford to get rid of these guys except maybe Souray because we are short at D, but I'm sure BG would be able to find somebody to replace him...say a Ruslan Salei for example. All 3 are not playing well this year and Ribs and Souray are big question marks with the new NHL, and I'm sure that the other GMs know it to.
  3. Of the wingers you listed, 2 are in the minors for no contribution this year, or even within the next 2. Zhog and Higgins get random ice time on various lines. Dagenais??? Ugh, won't touch that one. What we're left with is Kovy, Ryder, and a defensive winger in Bulis. To say the Habs don't need help at wing would be, IMO, an incorrect statement. You forgot Zednik and Latendresse is coming up next year probably. That makes 4 good wingers for next year. Also, Perezhogin is having a typical rookie season but can still play on the first 2 lines, same for Higgins. You can't say these guys can't play on the first 2 lines, they are still young and developing and Claude as not given them a fair chance so far. If we get another guy, Perezhogin and others will never get their chance. All I'm saying is that we need to stop looking at the present and think long-term. We have depth at wingers but zero depth at center. I stand by my statement and I doubt that I'm the only one who sees it that way. Wingers and goalie are the positions we have the most depth, why make a trade for one of these positions? To me it would be a stupid move to plug a hole for only one year. Why waste resources and young talent for a 1 year plug when we all know that BG is aiming for the cup in 2 years probably. He's still new to the team and stuck with old contracts signed before he arrived or under the old CBA. Give him time, and he will form a team that he wants. I don't think we are real Cup contenders (although you never what could happen) and I don't think BG sees a Cup contender either. He as a plan and sticking to it. Thank you BG for not trying to patch holes every year, otherwise you end up like the Maple Laffs. Good but not Cup caliber.
  4. 5M for Koivu = No way !!!! At that price, see ya and thanks for the good memories. Kovalev is worth more then Koivu and he's paid 4.5M. I seriously doubt that a team would offer him 5M. I don't see why Koivu would get or deserves a raise. His actual 3.5M is what he's worth and paying him more (max 4M) would be a stupid move. In a caped NHL, you can't afford to over pay a guy. We did it for Theo and now we're stuck with is 5.3M for 3 years when the guy is worth no more then 3, maybe 3.5M. You have to manage a team without emotions and BG does exactly that. He will let go of Koivu if he's asking too much. I'd rather suffer for a year (not having a certain player) then cave in and be stuck with an overpaid player for years. Examples: Khabibulin, St-Louis...their team wanted them so much that they overpaid them and are now stuck with them for years.
  5. If BG really wants to keep Koivu after this year, they will start negociations in January and sign him before he becomes a FA. Koivu as already mentioned that he wants to stay a habs and he's waiting for January to ear from the Habs. He loves it here. He said that it reminds him of home with our winters and similar weather. Also, we helped him out during his cancer and he as a big involvement in the community. I don't think we need additional bargaining tools to keep him around. As for cash, 3.5M/year for Koivu is enough. Lets be honest here, the guy is not an elite #1 center and needs help to be really productive. What as he done without Kovalev? What as he done in the past? He's done good but not great. Marleau is making 4M and I would take him over Koivu any day....definetly, 3.5M is enough for Koivu...4M top. More then that, I say see ya and thanks for the memories.
  6. For the ones mentioning that Marleau is not available, there are rumors saying the opposite. The Sharks might be looking for a cheaper offensive 2nd center (since they now have 2 #1 centers) and help at the wings and/or D. They need to replace Stuart and they are very weak at the wing position, especially with Strum's departure. Scott Thornton on a 1st line says it all about their wing depth. The Sharks acquired Thornton because he was available and because they didn't have to give up is fair market value in return, not because they wanted two #1 centers. The Sharks were apparently about to get Samsonov when Thorton's name came up in their discussions. Proof that they need wingers. Ribs (1.1M), Zednik (1.8M) and Souray (2.6M) for Marleau (4M)+ a nobody (to help them get rid of salaries if they want to) sounds good to me. Salaries are not to far apart and SJ as room in their cap and we feel up their needs of a cheaper 2nd center, a scoring winger and a D. But I agree taht Jokinen is cheaper and probably easier to acquire.
  7. Please let this be just a rumor. Eurk!!! is all I have to say about Sykora. Way too expensive for his contribution and we already have plenty of those players (Bonk, Theo, Souray), so please BG don't make our cap situation worse. Marleau is about as expensive, but 10 times better. Jokinen is cheaper and 10 times better. Also, we don't need a winger (we have plenty in Zednik, Kovalev, Ryder, Perezhogin, Latendresse, Kostitsyn, Dagenais, Bulis, Higgins, etc.), we need a good 2nd center to replace Ribs.
  8. I like Marleau also, but I think that there's not much difference between Jokinen and Marleau. They both are big centers, fast, skilled and similar age and similar stats so far this year. The major difference is 4M for Marleau and 2.5M for Jokinen. I would take either, but I think that Jokinen is easier to obtain then Marleau. All I know is that obtaining one of the 2 would definetly improve this team. We need help at center, Ribs is not doing the job and Bonk is a Bust. We already have plenty of wingers here and in the minors (Latendresse, Kostitsyn) and they would be much more productive with a Marleau or Jokinen then Ribs.
  9. What about Koivu for our top 6? And Plekanec? I see Higgins as a third liner who can play on the second line when a team needs scoring or in case of injury. Can you imagine a Higgins-Chipchura-Plekanec line? No I'd rather see Pleky as a second line center. Plekanec and especially Koivu are centers, the guys I mentionned in my 1st post are wingers as indicated in my comment. I like Plekanec, but I'm not sure I see im as our 2nd line center...but you never know. As for a 3rd line of Higgins-Chipchura-Plekanec, what would be wrong with that? Any difference from Bulis-Bonk-Sundstrom? All 6 guys are good 2 way players (assuming Chipchura becomes what he's predicted to become) with not that much offensive punch to them, some but not a lot. In a near future, I would like to see Bulis-Plekanec-Higgins...now that would be an interesting 3rd line. With Perezhogin-Koivu-Kovalev and Latendresse-?-Ryder and Begin-Chipchura-? on the 4th line, we would have a great team. That means that Ribeiro, Zednik and Kostitsyn can be traded for that good 2nd line center and D. That's how I see our team going towards to, but that's just me...BG is the man in charge.
  10. I see Higgins a decent 2nd line winger who plays the defensive role on the line or a very good 3rd line winger. I can't say he would be a great 2nd line winger because great 1st & 2nd line wingers have to be very good offensively and I think he's decent offensively. I prefer seeing him as a great 3rd liner who brings 15 goals a year once he's matured in the NHL. Depending on future trades, we have Kovalev, Zednik, Ryder, Perezhogin, Latendresse and Kostitsyn as 1st and 2nd line wingers which I believe most if not all have better offensive upside then Higgins. I like is grit, energy and 2 way skills, so stick him on the 3rd line and eventually get rid of Sundstrom. Nothing against Sunny, but we have to make room for players and BG will soon have to make decisions with all those above mentionned wingers, we have too many:/) I know I'm dreaming, but there are rumors that Marleau might be available because they now have 2 #1 centers and might be looking for a cheaper offensive 2nd line center and get that cheaper center and wingers and/or D in return. Ribs, and something else for Marleau would be a BG miracle. He would have given me my best x-mas gift:)
  11. If you are going to start with personal assaults then leave and go to espn boards where they are fitting. BTW. what is your opinion of a discussion? You saying one thing and everyone agreeing with you? Just to let you know... that is NOT a discussion. ps. Im not mad at you yet but dont continue with personal attacks. and another thing... this to all on this board... STOP talking like noone knows any hockey at all just becaus they dont agree with you. Its so god damn irritating to hear these kind of sentences. "Ive played hockey for 6 years so I know ALOOOOT more than any other fan on this board" CMON!!! Ive never played hockey but I still know enough to be considered a fan with the rights of saying his opinions. Funny how you only post my comment but you deleted yours that I was commenting on. You started with the attacks by putting words in my mouth that I didn't say (I never said that all 5 TO goals were crap, just 3 of them) and by saying that I should be in net because I sound REALLY good. Honestly, I never attack people unless they attcak first. If your comment was not meant to attack me, maybe I misinterpreted it...and I apologize for that. Its just that a lot of people attacked my comments on this thread so I read yours as being another one of them. My idea of a discussion is people challenging each others ideas in a respectful manner, not having everybody agree with me. If that was the case, do you really think that I would have written that Theo is overrated and not the goalie we need in this forum...I will never have the majority of support here for this but I still hold to my ideas. I'm just fed up of people attacking others when they disagree with them. Like that guy who wrote "all that time" for only 10 days which represented 3 games or something. People use anything to lower other peoples ideas and that is absurd and frustrating. If you guys disagree, thats fine, but no need to insult a fellow Habs fan. Keep those for the Laffs fans. Its as if every little post on this forum as to be pro-Habs otherwise a bunch of them start to write insults. Anyways, sorry for the insult but don't write things I didn't say and your comment was somewhat insulting about putting me in net because I sound REALLY ggod. Lets forget about this thread as it will come up again eventually...with Theo, its a certainty.
  12. Here's the most intelligent comment I've seen about Theo from someone. I wrote the exact same thing in one of my posts. Watch and see guys, Theo is not the guy we need. Theo's great performances and big saves have always come in games we are bombarded. Also, there was no pressure 3 years ago as there was no expectation on the team because it was lousy...now its a whole new situation. Theo as a very weak concentration level and always gives bad goals in games where we dominate and he gets few shots. I've almost never seen him make great saves in games where he gets under 25 shots. As for Bob, I'm sure that Theo is not in is long term plans...can you spell PRICE. Maybe he was great for us back then, but I seriously that he can be a great goalie for a dominante team. He needs plenty of action to be good and he won't get it anymore now that we are a dominating team. I agree that trading him now is probably not the best move because we wouldn't be getting a fair return at this stage of the season. Look at Fedorov's trade, Columbus gave almost nothing in return. But idealy, if we had a solution to replace him, I would trade him now before his contract and performances make him difficult to trade. All this to say that this is only my opinion and every single one of you who made fun of my comments are just immature kids who need a serious dose of growing up. Its so much easier to make a stupid comment then to actually bring actual facts and thoughts to a discussion. Honestly guys, since when as insulting and laughing of someone brought anything constructive to an argument? Hatred only brings even more hatred. Quite pathetic to read some people's comments. Good thing I don't fall so easily in this type of shamefulness.:nono:
  13. Funny man. Perfect example of NOT being able to read properly and being stuck in your own world of ideas. I said that the 1st, 2nd and 5th goals should have been stopped, at least 2 of them. There are so many people writing things and quoting things from god knows where that its hard to have a realistic discussion about anything on this site... [Edited on 2005/11/16 by Komisarek the Cruncher]
  14. I'm super happy about our record so far and the quality of the play in general, but it doesn't mean that there's no room for improvement. Take it as positive criticism. Anybody in life as areas to improve no matter how well they're doing. Why satisfy your self with what you have when it can be better? I write a lot more positive things here then negative things but how boring this site would be if we all agreed and gave each other a slap on the ass for a job well done? The Habs have areas to improve to become a real dominant team and we are simply trying to identify these things. In case you haven't notice, the criticism as only started this week since the Habs started to play sloppy. 1) Not so great games vs. Buffalo, 2) Poor game vs. Tampa, thank you Theo for that one. 3) Poor game vs. Pittsburgh, thank you Pittsburgh for being so lousy that even by giving our worst effort we still manged to get 1 point. 4) Luck finally ran out vs. TO and our weaknesses were clearly in evidence in that game (miserable PP, stupid penalties, weak goaltending, lack of scorig touch) I just don't like what I've seen lately and I feel that we will start to slip down the standings if things don't change sooner then later. Don't leave the forum, any Habs fan is always welcomed here, just don't take the criticism too personaly. I want my Habs to be #1 and dominat, is there something wrong with that? Besides, if people would start to be open about other people ideas and stopped insulting the ones that have different ideas then them and be open to discuss things like adults, there wouldn't be so much hatred in the posts. Its difficult to stand by and do nothing when you have a couple of guys posting swears and insults as soon as they disagree with someone else. Its impossible for all of us to agree, lets just be adults here and remain polite with each other. Thank you. [Edited on 2005/11/14 by Komisarek the Cruncher]
  15. Here's a good assessment of Theo's play so far this season: http://thefourthperiod.com/goalrank.html WOW, 21st in the league and I'm supposed to believe that we're first because of him? Proof that our record is due to the other players, not Theo. We would have the same record if not better if we had another goalie. Hopefully he will improve, but if he doesn't, we will become the new Senators, great season but goodbye in the playoffs because of weak goaltending...
  16. You guys are blind. We are leading the division, temporarely because ottawa has games in hands, only due to the quality of the teams play (excluding Theo). We dominate are games, so we don't need a good goalie. Any goalie would have done the same abd even better then Theo. Look at Emery in Ottawa, he's 4-0 because of the team. Look at Lagace, last time I checked, he wasn't among the elite goalies, but Detroit is playing great in front of him. Man, I have to explain everything to blinded Theo lovers. Look at the other goalies, they have all improved drastically in the past 2-3 weeks except Theo. Kiprusoff is awesome now. Brodeur played great in his 2 games back. Turco is also playing great again. Blablabla, its old news that the goalies are having problems, most if not all elite goalies (except Theo) as improved drastically. Go look at the goalie stats. Can't wait for some of you to crack down eventually and start realizing that Theo is nothing more then a media overhyped machine. The guy plays golf all summer long and is buddy with some of the most important journalists here in Montreal, of course they're ging to make him this superstar. People not living in Montreal have no idea how protected he is by the journalists here and many living in Montreal are fooled and blinded by the medias. Especially the french medias. At least the english media as the decency of writting the actuak fcats, which is that he's struggling big time. WAKE UP GUYS!!!
  17. Since when have I said that they're not the best edition in years? My nightmarish experience is related to the guy in net.PERIOD. Why does everybody keeps bringing other subjects in this thread...the thread is about Theo, nothing else. Propably because none of you can bring actual facts and reasonable thoughts to back up your blinded love for Theo. I'm having a blast this season with our "Glorieux". I'm just very concerned about the future and the playoffs with Mr. Big Head in net. The guy is too inconsistent to lead a team threw 4 rounds of playoffs. Proof, he played some games well vs. Boston and some were horrible but managed to get threw but against Tampa is was weak fram A to Z. If being worried about winning the cup is out of context, then go be a Senators fan, there good in the seasons and lousy in the playoffs, they should satisfy your simple needs.
  18. Praise the lord for someone that has seen the light:/)
  19. [Edited on 2005/11/14 by bebehabs] In PK, your goalie is your most important player and those 2 shots were from far and is view was not blocked, so learn a little hockey and know that those shots are suppose to be blocked. He was there to make the save, its not like they were one timers that he ad no chance to get to. Otherwise, many goals will be going in this year if its OK for those type of shots to go in. I know about Markov's play, it doesn't change the fact that it was a loser who got the breakaway and that the shot was weak and right at his glove. Look at the replay, if it wasn't for trying that little fency glove move to make the save look spectacular, he would have stopped it. Look carefully before commenting a goal...instead of blindly admiring him. He was weak on all 3 goals period. I know enough about goalies to say this for a guaranteed fact. I played goalie for 10 years and I would hate my self for letting these goals in. He should have stopped at least 1 of those and that's why he's paid the big pucks. Why invest a good chunck of the cap in a goalie if he can't make the saves when you need him. Anyways, all of you are just saying wait, be patient, but are not bringing any actual facts to defend the guy, so I will stick to reality and what's happening on the ice...which is that he sucks so far:mad: In the mean time, keep living in that fantasy world of yours...
  20. Its a 3 year contract, not 4, thank God:/) I'm one of those who's been defending him on RDS, but enough is enough, shape up or ship out... With the concept of a cap, I'm pretty sure that Bob is not happy with Theo's performances and is probably starting to wonder if giving him all that money was the best move...
  21. Funny how I was one of you guys until the Maple Leafs game. I have been defending Theo since day 1 of the season, but the Maple Leafs game did it for me. I just wonder which game will eventually do it for you guys? I tried to be patient, but after a 1/4 of season, enough is enough. Theo lives in Mtl and knows how important the TO games are and he didn't have a good game. Lack of concentration. Even he admitted after the game "I didn't expect him to shoot" when talking of O'Neill...how can you guys accept that ? There was 50 secs left in the game, how can you not expect a shot? And he said it as if it was normal or something? He never once in his life time took the blame for a loss but as often mentionned his teammates as not playing hard? I admit that there was a lot of frustration from the TO game in my comments, but I still say that Theo as everything to prove. Its the first time that he defends the net of a good team, so lets wait and see before putting him as this God like you guys see him. Its easy to play hero for a lousy team, there's no pressure in winning. Either the loss wasn't is fault because the team sucks or they won because he played great, it ain't the same anymore... All I want to say is that he is many technical problems right now and mostly, a concentration problem...and that worries me the most. Like I said, can't wait to see when will be your breaking point in your confidence in Theo.
  22. I disagree, Theo was not that great on the 1st, 2nd and 5th goal. The 1st was a shot from far with nobody blocking is view. The 2nd was a weak wrist shot that he tried to be fency with his glove. The 5th would have hit him in the shoulder at he not went down too quickly. A suposedly elite goalie should have made all these saves, but assuming he as an average night, he still should have at least at a minimum stopped 1 of those 3 shots. Don't forget that the thread is about Theo, not about why we lost against TO or the Habs weaknesses. Yes we lack a scoring touch, yes our PP stinks and yes we take too many stupid penalties but that's not what the thread was about. As for improving our scoring touch, only a change of players will remedy the problem. One you're at the NHL level, you have developped most of your potential, especially for veterans, so improving scoring skills or any skills takes years of practice, not just a few shooting drills. Look at Kovalev, he practices every day by himself for 20 to 30 minutes and he still misses chances and only as 7 goals so far. Our lack of being able to put it in the net will remain there, get use to it. Latendresse should help in that department next year and adding a great offensive forward should remedy the problem. As much as I like our players, Koivy and Ribs have lousy shots, Zednik is OK but not more, Kovalev and Ryder are above average and that's it. We don't have one single natural great scorer on this team.
  23. Couldn't agree more. We are 18 games into the season and I'm tired of people saying to be patient with Theo. Its been 1/4 of the season already...how patient can someone be...Kiprusoff as certainly turn things around for those of you who want to compare. Same shitty start as Theo but great in the past 2 weeks...can't say the same for Theo... If he doesn't improve, trade him and go with Danis. We also have Price coming up in a few years if Danis doesn't work out. There's always UFA if we need to find somebody for next year. IMHO, Theo is overrated and nothing more than a good goalie, but not a great goalie. Can't afford to overpay anyone with the cap and Theo is definetly overpaid. I would trade him for a top forward anytime. You two guys should meet and spend a miserable evening together making fantaisy trades if that can make you feel better......but please spare us with the fabulous outcome. Last time I checked, this is a public internet site where people can post ideas and comments. Its people like you that make good forums hard to find because you spend your useless life putting other people down. Guys like you are pathetic, you feel a need to put people down to make your little pathetic life more interesting and superior. If you disagree, thats fine, but there's no reason to start making fun of other people. Grow up. You and mathieug should meet one night and put the entire world down, that way you will both feel like your useless lives have a meaning. I have enough to deal with a few stupid TO fans, now even Habs fans make fun of other Habs fans, great camaradery guys:/) Sorry for offending your precious little sweatheart that is Theo, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. Why do you keep defending him, he as not played even close to what he should be giving us. Keep watching and being patient, Theo will not improve and will be the way he as been playing so far for the rest of the season. You will have to wait until you're 6 feet under the ground before he gets to the level you think he can paly. He has difficulties staying focus and concentrated when he doesn't get bombarded, and since we don't get bombarded any more, he pretty much keep giving up weak goals as long as we have him. That money would be better invested somewhere else. Danis or Price will bring us a cup, but not Theo. By the way, I can't mention for which company and which contract, but I was very well placed to be involved in negociations he had for a publicity contract a few years ago and the guy he's a little prick. He thinks he's oh mighty god himself and that they world owes him everything. Unbelievable the hothead attitude that guy has. He talks to people like their is servents. You won't see it in public because he as an image to protect but the guy is an idiot. Sorry, but I don't see a great team player in him (he blamed his teammates after the Pittsburgh game) and I don't see him bringing us the cup. I know a lot more about Theo then the average hockey fan can because of my access to certain information and trading the guy is the best thing that could happen to this team. So before firing off your canons on other people, think first. Some of us are better connected and know more then you do. Unbelievable the nerves some guys have. Have you ever heard that putting people down is a weak man's game...
  24. Couldn't agree more. We are 18 games into the season and I'm tired of people saying to be patient with Theo. 25. Mathieug, no need to swear and be insulting you little prick. Everyone is intitled to their opinions. Did I insult you? Not. If you're too immature, that's your problem. And yes, Theo as been shit. The best stats for a goalie is the save %, all the other stats are teams related. They depend on how well the team plays. And his save % is chit. Also, its the timing of when he gives up a bad goal. That doesn't show in the stats. Have you watch all the games so far? I doubt it. Its too early to make any trade anyways, but glad to see that you agree that he needs to improve. That's basically all i'v been saying so take your big head out of your ass and stop insulting people Mr. I know it all.
