  1. Does he like to be called "The Count"?
  2. So the Habs have traded their two depth offensive centerman, Grabs and Locke. I think that Gainey will want more depth than just Maxwell or Desharnais or Corso for a replacement offensive centerman in Hamilton. I think that for sure Gainey will add another centerman, I pray that it is Sundin but if not I think it will be a good veteran two-way centre, who can win faceoffs and fill in on a scoring line if necessary, like Smolinski was supposed to be. Probably have to be acquired through a trade.
  3. So far we have added Tanguay and Laraque and lost Streit, Ryder and Smokes, a huge upgrade for many reasons. Firstly it instantly improves defense by removing two very weak defenders and also adding the intimidation factor of Laraque. Our other defenders can now be more aggressive as well. Offense gets better because our players dont have to be afraid that dominating others with skill will bring cheap shot reprisals because Big Georges is there to back them up. Tanguay will more than make up for the loss of Streit's points. A change was necessary for the powerplay as it failed to come through in the playoffs. I think that Chips must be one of the centers next year to replace Smokes. AKost-Pleks-Kovy Tanguay-Koivu-Higgins Lats-Chips-S.Kost Begin-Laps-Kosto/Laraque Markov-Komi Hamrlik-O'B Bouillon-Gorges Brisebois Price/Halak This team is going to cause a lot of damage, anything less than conference finals is a disappointment. You could flip Kovy and Higgins or Chips and Laps as I am sure will be tried. I think we pick up a veteran D at the deadline who is going to be UFA. Denis is nice insurance if he can regain his game in Hamilton. There will be no rookie forwards this year. Last year we pretty much had 4 rookie forwards. Dandenault must be given a new home. I am looking forward to see how Price plays this fall with a nice long summer break behind him, and an itch to prove the playoffs were not his best showing. I think that Schneider might be a nice addition to play with Hamrlik if Sundin does not sign. If Sundin does sign we will be scary good and of course everything changes then. Go :hlogo: Go
  4. It's awesome the habs just added Tanguay, a 75 point player added to the highest scoring team in the league with no subtraction. Instantly upgrades all of the lines. If our man Gainey adds Sundin, the team will score 300 plus goals no problem. Probably does mean we lose Streit and his 60 plus points which does matter consider he was the third leading scorer and a good power play man, although he may resign for less and play a more specialist role just to be a part of a great team. If the team looks like this, we will be unanimous East favorites: Tanguay-Sundin-Kovalev Higs-Pleks-AKost Lats-Koivu-SKost Begin-Chipchura-Lapierre Kostopolous, D'Agostini Markov-Komi Hamrlik-O'Byrne Gorges-Valentenko (Not sure but I bet we add a veteran D at the deadline) Price, Halak This time an infusion of youth at the bottom and veterans at the top. Sounds perfect. Price better get used to long stretches between shots. We've got a stacked first line but what makes us great is what backs it up. If we dont get Sundin just flip in Koivu to the top line and bump up Chips to the third, we become a more defensive team and probably add a veteran centre at the deadline. Habs will duke it out with Pittsburgh and Philly next year and maybe others depending on where UFAs land. It's a great time to be a Habs fan Go :hlogo: Go
  5. I havent heard much about these two players for a long time. Just wondering if anyone has some good info on how they are playing.
  6. nice to see a win on home ice and great to see ryder get a couple so much for no offence on this team, we are 3rd in the East in goals and 6th overall go habs goooooooo!!!!!!
  7. very nice game thread.....team stats tables would be a nice addition. i like the look of these lines, more offence. doesnt leave much room for begin and smolinski though, wonder what will happen when they come back. go :hlogo: go
  8. i am surprised not to see a thread about this in its own right but here goes..... what is carbo thinking putting brisebois as the fourth defenseman instead of streit? is he trying to lose the players from the first game this year? i cant see the logic in this at all. go :hlogo: go
  9. sign him and call him up to the habs go :hlogo: go
  10. if latendresse continues to score and kostitsyn doesnt do well on the 2nd, try Lats-Koivu-Ryder Higgins-Kovalev-Samsonov Perez-Bonk-Johnson Kost-Pleks-Begin the 2nd needs a finisher, and if kosty can't do it, why not higgins
  11. i have american friends but man, ###### America any country that re-elects a man like george bush and all he represents deserves to have its national anthem booed....p p p period and if that really disgusts you, then you should open your goddamn eyes and take a look around at the cosequences of bush's america upon the world, now that is disgusting....but obviously you cant see past the simplicities of puck gets dropped, whacked by stick, he shoots he scores, uhhhhhhhduuhhhh hahahahaha
  12. if we do get lang for zednik then..... i say trade aebi ribeiro and souray for a real number one d or a top flight winger and sign either the winger or a good dman with the rest of the cash
  13. what about trading souray, zednik and ribeiro for a 1a or 1b centre and then signing a defenseman or souray zednik and aebischer i mean do we need a centreman or do we need souray??? not that i have a real problem with the guy, other than he cant play one on one, he does bring many things to the table but for souray zednik and aebi, we could really get something that could change the offensive outlook of this team and thats what the habs really need
  14. i dont want arnott either i think that bob will try to get a second line centre from one of the above mentioned teams needing a goalie aebisher and ribeiro do have trade value, and could definitely snag a second line centre.....not sure who is available from these teams though
  15. yes there will because we are going to trade abby and not sign bulis, sunny and ribs
  16. we all still love the habs, THE NEW HABS i mean GAINEYS HABS not the left overs from eras past we all love the new attitude this team developed this year and the way all the new players and rookies played and really showed the potential of this team...........once again i will say it, gainey has now had a year to evaluate under the new conditions and the team will be better next year guaranteed as he further shapes it into a hardworking unit, and a damn talented one too......... in gainey we trust, and believe!!! edit: dont take this to mean that players that have been with the team for a long time like koivu and markov are not loved and huge parts of the team too but thats about as far as i would go with that.....oh i guess rivet is alright too;)
  17. you dont understand it???? how many goals did we score the last 4 games, huh??? obviously thats our problem
  18. i agree, bye bye ribeiro, zednick, sundstrom, hello more young kids and a couple of free agents and this team will rock a la buffalo
  19. i really expected the habs to win that game in OT but obviously it wasnt meant to be
  20. well the canes will be bounced next round anyway..........the future does look bright for the habs but damn we lost 4 in a row, wahhhhhhhhh
