zumpano21
CBC's Fifth Estate aired a program tonight that I personally found shocking. Most of the program was dedicated to Derek Boogaard and the events leading up to his death. The program documented how the NYR signed Boogaard from the Wild fully knowing that he was addicted to Ambien, a sleep agent, that could easily become addictive. While with the Rangers, the team doctor knowingly prescribed him massive amounts of Ambien, while fully aware that he was an in fact, an addict. It got to the point where Boogaard, showed up at practice one day and couldn't even stand up. He was sent to rehab and then OD'd while on leave from rehab. That an MD could be so negligent and that he's associated with the NYR and NHL is astounding. I would think this is not the end of this story.
