I think Streit has been playing very well since the Olympics, especially during our current winning streak. Of course lately we have been playing against some of the weaker teams but I am very happy with his recent play.

A lot of people here are extremely negative about him but don't forget this is his rookie year.

His confidence (and ice time) is up, he has stopped taking bad penalties and is playing quite well definsively. I think he is showing some real creativeness on the powerplay. I just wish he would hit the net more often with his shot which is very hard.

I am very optimistic about his future and think his future will be as a 3rd or 4th defenceman.

I hope Streit continues to improve. He could be a great offensive threat.

I just think his confidence is still to low, he is too hesitant to take a shot or carry the puck up ice. With more confidence he could begin to break open games with his superb passing and great vision.

It is his rookie year and I think bob will give him a second shot next year.

As a 3rd or 4th I do not know. But maybe a PP specialist.

I want to believe... I do... I remember his play at the Olympics, and my hopes rise...

But I'm gonna need to see more improvement before I'd give him the 3rd or 4th spot...

The only thing that we can be shure of has been is inability to be good enought to take over

one of our regular's spot thus far.

This guy had proved his skills to be on a hight level in Switserland and on international

competitions years after years.........yet once on the smaller north american rink.......he

didnt' fare well.....even when compared against the very young and much less experienced

prospects I had seen while watching the CH pre-saison games at the Bell.

He has improved since then,..no doubts, but is defensive play which seems to be deprived

of any physicallity altogether......still lag behing any of the others by a fair stretch.

Lately Gainey have been playing 7 defencemens for various reasons.....he mostly used him on

the power plays.....you could see clearly Streit potentiel in those situations......yet they weren't

conclusive goals wise.

Will he still be with us when Cote or any others get to be graduated ? He is a paticular case but

I guess only time will tell.

THe only reason he might be back next year is because of Montreal lack of depth at the defensman position. Especially in terms of guys who'll be able to step in next year and help out. And thats pretty pathetic. Maybe Cote will be ready to step up. Thats it. Archer doesn't look like and NHL'er, and there isn't much else at the AHL level

It'll be a few years for O'Bryne and Emelin if they ever develop at all.

Streit takes a fair amount of abuse in some of the Habs discussion boards. I see a lot of positives in his play, especially considering his sporadic use. He is a smart player who sees the ice well and usually makes a good pass. He is improving in his defensive zone coverage but needs more confidence and playing time to add a physical element to his play. Bouillon has learned to time his hits very nicely, if Streit could add this element to his game it would improve his usefullness out there. A big "if" maybe.
