Mr. Nasty
For a complete list of free agents: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=9657&hubname= IMO the following guys have been getting very little attention prior to free agency and can still be valuable contributors to teams. Wingers: Mike Grier Mark Recchi Mike LeClerc Mark Parrish Martin Straka Vaclav Varada Donald Brashear Dallas Drake Jarkko Ruutu Jeff Friesen Brendan Shanahan Sergei Samsonov Petr Sykora Victor Kozlov Anson Carter Centre Mike Sillinger Steve Rucchin Alyn McCauley Petr Cajanek Jeff Halpern Jan Hrdina Mike Peca Jeremy Roenick Eric Lindros Trevor Linden Defense Ruslan Salei Aaron Ward Willie Mitchell Jaroslav Spacek Dick Tarnstrom Filip Kuba Danny Markov Kim Johnsson Marek Zidlicky Tom Poti Goalies....none Edited July 5, 2006 by Mr. Nasty
jetsniper
It would be an absolute dream if we could nab Salei or McKee if we can't get Blake back (which I really, really doubt we will now)
InsaneHABSfan
It would be an absolute dream if we could nab Salei or McKee if we can't get Blake back (which I really, really doubt we will now) Bite your tongue lad! Blake will be back...
jetsniper
Bite your tongue lad! Blake will be back... Oh god, I hope so but at this point, I can't see him rejecting a deal from Los Angeles or Anaheim. I know he is doing negotiations with us on his own though, maybe he won't listen to anyone else? You guys have no idea how happy I'll be if Blake re-signs. It would not be the end of the world if he does not return, however there was a reason they gave away Tanguay. Free up money to sign Blake! Yeah, you just have to move on really. But after losing Foppa and Footer last offseason, I don't want to lose another plug this offseason. InsaneHABSfan
Blake is available according to Jetsniper in the 2006 summer UFA thread. Would the Habs now look at a defenceman with allstar capabilities? Not sure if he would play in the east as he lives on the West Coast. BTH
Steve Rucchin looks interesting as a 1 or 2 year fix.
InsaneHABSfan
Steve Rucchin looks interesting as a 1 or 2 year fix. I have always like how this guy plays.
BTH
I have always like how this guy plays. Yep. An underrated center who can complete the Kostitsyn and Kovalev line.
InsaneHABSfan
Jan Hrdina is available too. I have not seen him play much as he was in Columbus and I did not watch them this year....
smon
I think either Alyn McCauley or Mike Grier would be good acquistions. Obviously neither are top line players but they bring a lot of hustle, hard work and grit. High energy guys.. Jaroslav Spacek will be a good pickup for whichever team that gets him. dark_faerie87
McCauley, Grier and Rucchin are all gone.
HipHipHuet
I tought Recchi was going back to Pittsburg? Isnt it what he said?
Athlétique.Canadien
Steve Rucchin looks interesting as a 1 or 2 year fix. He did look good didn't he
Psycing
Oh well.. I'm hoping for Shanahan, LeClerc, or Ruutu. I think Shanny could compliment Kovalev and Ribs because he'd open up some room for them and could get in front of the net as well. Ruutu would be great with Begin & Murray. LeClerc might be a good winger for Bonk as well.
smon
I'm hoping for Shanahan. But the way things have been going shows me that hope is all I've got.

smon
http://www.pittsburghpenguins.com/team/press/arts/1935.0.php It's on ESPN.com as well..not on TSN yet Two years, $2.3 million Not that overpaid. I'd say a mil max but there probably was some competition for him
Mr. Nasty
I updated the list and added a few other names.
Psycing
Gotta Subtract Roenick off that list now that you've added him, lol. He signed in Phoenix.
jetsniper
My dad will be sad, he really wanted to see Roenick sign in Calgary.
Athlétique.Canadien
According to several posts here and there. HF and HTR, Poti has signed with Montreal for 4 years at 15 million. HTR Link. At this point this is purely speculative although many who heard about it heard it on TSN via Bob MacKenzie. ONCE AGAIN - purely speculative
