CATVO33
I've been reading all of the trade posts on the site and most of them refernece the Habs going after a winger (O'Neill) or a guy like Lindros etc. It would seem to me that the habs could use a solid D-Man more than anything. I have been a Habs fan since the 15th second of my life (which ironicaly is how long it took me at the time to realize that the leafs suck.. what can I say I was young now it would only take me 1 second) and I grew up watching great offensive teams in the late 70's and great defensive teams in the 80's and all managed to win cups. Why not go after Leetch for next to nothing, or Gonchar who is an expensive player but arguably one of the best D-men in the league (and is only 29) and these kinds of guys are the ones you build the rest of the team around. Imagine Souray and Gonchar on the PP together can you say #1 ranked PP Build it from the defensive zone out and you will be solid in the playoffs it's been done before and maybe we need to do it again. :hlogo:atvo
johnnyhasbeen
Maybe St Louis will be out of it and Pronger will be let go. Oops wake up Johnny
habsfan88
A D-man or a skilled, big, forward would both be great additions to the team.
Habiman
Look, we're winning games...and winning games against good teams without Souray...He'll be back sooner than later... Remember you don't have to have all the "best" players to be a great team (e.g. Rangers)...The Habs ARE playing like a team! I don't think the Habs should make a deal for the sake of making a deal....we've got to stay on track and develop our talent in Hamilton...There is no such thing as a quick fix in hockey, no matter how good the player(s) is/are...Develop the Komis and Hainsey's and trade some of veterans who aren't getting regular time...i.e., Dykuis...He'd be a nice addition on the third line D for alot of teams.... Leafs Suck
Maybe we should be like Leaf fans and just start picking players randomly that we want So we'll take Bertuzzi, Forsberg and Pronger, and only give up Dykhuis, Juneau and Traverse
habsfan88
Habiman, you are correct and all, but you never know what will happen down the road. I'm not saying, look, lets go out and make a huge blockbuster deal and pick up jagr and leetch. yes, we are playing like a team now, but there are some players who havent gotten a point in god knows how long. so packaging say dackell and somebody else for A player like O'neill, its nothing that big. Habiman
O'Neill for Dackell...In a minute, but byour on crack if ya think that's an option...They'll want something in return, not a defensive specialist on a bum knee... As for Leaf's suck, I'd bet that there are many teams that would love to add Joe Juneu right now...Same goes for Dykhuis...Traverse just plain sucks moose! (exactly my point...who did we trade to get Taverse? Weinrich)....Sometimes, its takes balls (especially in Montreal) to NOT make a move! Especially, when the trade means your adding big salary and losing young low cost talent....Hopefully, Gainey will think things through...I say forge ahead, maybe pick up another good player for a Juneu or Dykhuis and build for the future....Guys, we're not got to finals this year even if we get Leech and Gonchar! Dalhabs
Its not impossible to reach the finals... I wont give up until the other team beats us out and I hope the Habs thinks the same way. Theo can take us all the way to the cup if he starts playing like 2002 and add a better team offensively and defensively now than in 2002. Sure... we are ousiders but still I dont think its impossible. :ghg:
