  1. Habs players in that cap hit range are Armia, Dach, Byron, Edmundson, Savard, Byron would provide them the LTIR room for other trades and being an expiring contract would free them up to trade for someone with term. The cherry on the top for PIT would be getting Byron back for the playoffs. Edmundson would be a good addition for PIT, he could renew his success with Petry on another cup run. I do not see the benefit for MTL in getting Kapanen for Eddy.
  2. I wonder if the Habs may keep Monahan if they can get rid of one of the boat anchor contracts they have He makes his line mates better, a good 2nd line center
  3. Very good summary ( in French) on the first quarter for the Rocket
  4. I bet you are right, I am grasping at straws here… just trying to understand the evolution the team may take as it becomes a contending team. thanks for always being mindful in your comments
  5. but, looking at what player may be traceable, Evans is about the only one that could interest other teams. any AHL plug would do this season. It is a lost season, isn’t it?
  6. You do realize that I know that much But the core of drafted payers is still there , no?
  7. Ok game, good result. Matheson is a lefty Petry, why did they go get him? I hope Harris learned lots tonight. The Monahan line should have played more than Suzuki’s , they played better That good shift from the 4th line in the 3rd makes me wonder if this was not a game where they could have changed the momentum … but what do I know ?!
  8. I have seem some tweets about the NYRs (not doing well? Gorton anniversary?). I do not know why this shows up on my timeline. Did anyone see these:
  9. the Habs can call up a Belzile or Pitlick or even Mysak to play on the 4th line to block shots. Gignac or Richard may also fill a spot this year. THey could even rotate the AHLers for a week at a time to "evaluate" them like some teams do on "rebuild" seasons. Armia.... on the other hand, would require the Habs to retain salary to entice another team to take him. I have been looking at other team's to find a spot for Armia and there is no place for him the way he is playing.
  10. I did not mention DD, if you are referring to that. The comment on the 4th line is that with all the special teams playing so much, whoever is on Evans line sits for a long time. It seems to me the jump on the ice "cold" If I think back to MSL last season, he seemed to just roll the lines and the 4th line grunts seemed to be more in the games. that's it, that is the extent of my observation. I thought you had me on ignore...
  11. I am happy for Nilan., but in MB's defense, he never stopped any alumni to invite a player over for lunch.
  12. ( 4th liners have a specific role in the NHL, bring energy and hem the other team in their D-zone for a shift or two to change momentum, Habs 4th liners not used like that ) === on you point of depth at center, if the Habs traded Evans, who would play 4C ? I was looking at that scenario, because Evans cap hit is fairly low and would be a great addition to a team that has fire power on the top lines but needs a PK specialist
  13. yes, I read it. The scout was news, Hughes and St-Louis we already knew. Analytics and player development were not in the article but those are positives. I do not like how little he is (they are) paying attention to the AHL.
  14. The day the Habs win the 25th cup, I will accept that I was wrong. Until then, I will applaud every good move (Dach) by Hugh-Gort and criticize any bad move (nit picking here: keeping Slafkovsky at NHL level)
  15. Gorton's one year anniversary at the helm of the Habs is today, and multiple media outlets are praising his tenure. I went to check the NYR's chances to win a cup this year, to see what is the likelihood the Habs have found the mythical GM (or half of the GM two headed entity) that brings the 25th cup to Montreal. Why do I feel underwhelmed? Am I too pessimistic and cynical?
  16. I do not believe MSL knows how to get the most out of any 4th liner or struggling forward. I do not believe Evans, Pezzetta or even Armia will be able to show their worth this season
  17. listened on French radio, much better play by play than whoever is trying out on TSN690 Suzuki's and Monahan's line played well. Montembeault played very well. I did not watch the game, so I do not know if he stole the win, but he had a good game. Slafkovsky got hit in the chin, and left to the dark room. I would prefer him playing more minutes in Laval: he is not processing the game fast enough right now.
  18. Dach for the win, how poetic. I still would have preferred Monahan. He had a great games
  19. Martin St-Louis is not at the NHL-level yet for in-game adjustments. Often, in post-games press conferences, he says he has much to learn. I like the overall game though, Habs are close to winning in the shoot out I hope Monahan wins it
  20. 4 points game on the draft lottery ticket derby. I hope for: 1. an entertaining game 2. no injuries to our pending UFAS 3. another strong game by Monahan 4. Xhekaj forcing the Habs to send Harris to Laval 5. Slafkovsky forcing the Habs to send him down to Laval Go, Habs! Go!!! Let's rebuild the team with drafts of elite talent in 2023
  21. I agree. That kid is special I watched the 3rd later. Happy for the win, Montembeault wins another game for the Habs. From memory, that’s the fourth win the goalies have stolen I am also glad for another point for Monahan.
  22. Can’t wait for next season of Andor. Nice to have a decent Star Wars series
  23. I got bored after the 1st and went to watch the last episode of Andor. I am back and I see I didn’t miss much Why did Pezzetta fight? Is the Monahan line playing better? Are they using their size advantage? I am glad to read Montembeault kept them in the game.
