I’m not even ragging on Muzzin he’s a quality D. I’m just making the point that Chiarot is playing just as good as him and all we had to give up for him was salary and not the high price the Leafs had to pay to get Muzzin.

I wouldn’t say Muzzin is even all that much better than Chiarot is right now. It would have been great to get either of those two but unfortunately both seemed to have made up there minds on there current locations.

Fair enough. Still his whopping 4 points do not impress me and I don’t see him being more than a fringe third liner at best. But alas no one better etc.

I agree an upgrade on any position would be great but at the same time what would be the cost? Playoffs I think Chiarot would do well because he’s a big body that can move his feet.

It’s true that because of injuries there not many other options but I don’t think his playmaking abilities are all that good or his shot for that matter.

Oddly enough Chiarots emergence as a top 4 D has been a welcome surprise. He has looked really good next to Weber and has actually given Weber the ability to be more offensive minded and it’s paying off. If Mete can continue to grow into a top 4 and Kulak can round out the bottom pair, things might be working themselves out. Chiarot stepping up like he has has done wonders.

Lehkonen at least is good defensively and plays the body and every once and a while finds the back of the net. Which makes him useful. Career AHLer.

He just can’t seem to sink a goal. Had he scored on his plenty of chances he’s had the last few weeks it might have changed his fortunes.

Weber is still proving he’s a top pairing guy that is once again carrying the D core.

The year is teetering on a potential top 5 draft pick or digging themselves out and into a playoff spot.

I’m talking about what you need to get from Price in a trade is a young established or on the rise kind of star. But they have to be young to fit into our next group of core players.

If the plan is to trade Price you need young established stars that will be young enough to contend when our current crop of prospects have entered the league and are hitting there stride. Primeau/Suzuki/Koktaniemi/Caufield/Poehling. Which would mean at least 2-3 years before seeing a chance to start contending.

I think Suzuki is going to be a special player and to his credit Kotkaniemi looks to be turning it around and is finding his confidence again which are positive signs.
