  1. If Pittsburgh won and Habs got Lafreniere I wouldn't have suggested you not be allowed to watch him because you didn't want the pick.
  2. PVR set ... including the maximum record for three hours past the scheduled end ... just in case ...can always further adjust if necessary
  3. Assuming he meant Evans (typos are a bitch) it is unclear if he was skating or practicing ... I'm guessing skating as that is usually the first step back from the type of hit he suffered.
  4. The way Vladislav Gavrikov's arm was dangling as he skated off after being hit by the puck that deflected to Point for the GWG I'll guess pinched nerve or broken collarbone ... hope its the former ...
  5. Don Cherry ... is that you? LOL 😉 😇 Totally agree (assuming I've "read" your post properly) ... the other one that drives me nuts is "they" got X more PPs than "us" ... not the refs job to balance PPs by making four ticky-tac hooking calls to offset four beheadings with sticks.
  6. I agree with Kelly Hrudy ... I'd love to see Korpisalo get 100 Just hope whoever wins it is a GOOD goal and not some weird bounce or a horrible mistake that will haunt somebody.
  7. Good news ... "the kids" keep their skilled linemates ... Danault line likely to still get top, or near top, 5-on-5 TOI as the tactic is likely again to shut down the opponents top line
  8. This summer was his 6th season as A/GM ... sometimes new blood is needed to keep things fresh ...
  9. Ron Hextall rumoured to be one of the frontrunners ... he basically built the Flyers ... but Mellanby would be an interesting choice from the habs perspective ... if the owners mandate changes, especially cost-saving, he would be familiar with Habs roster/prospects and might have some "favourites" that would draw more value from him than other teams. It would also open a spot for Dale Tallon on the management team ... his contract was set to expire at the end of the season, so he doesn't have the usual "paid year(s) off" option ... he basically built the Hawks Cup teams, but lost that job after his staff messed out sending out qualifying offers to several RFAs ... did a decent job with Panthers, except perhaps the terrible (IMO) Bobrovsky contract.
  10. Hope you are right ... Habs need elite goal scoring
  11. Grundman was IMO terrible, but in fairness Langway wanted out
  12. (1) Every team says the like players around their pick ... and are ALWAYS astounded that the player they draft was still available (2) Caufield, for all his promise, remains very much an unknown ... teams had reasons for not drafting him ... some may have been because of need, but some were undoubtedly concerns about whether his obvious skill will transfer to the NHL ... as an aside, there is talk that if the Big Ten delays their hockey season into 2021 that Cole ***might*** consider heading to Sault Ste-Marie (or maybe trying to get them to deal him to a team he likes better) ... that might well be good for him
  13. Retained salary means the Habs have to give up more to get him, so ***IF*** MB looks to trade for The Ghost he's better off taking on all $4.5 if possible . A factor may be the fate of Karl Alzner ... a buyout is (IMO) not feasible as he would take up $3,958,333, $1,958,333, $833,333 and $833,333 on the cap for the next four seasons ... but the next two seasons Karl offers $1.625 and $1.125 of "free" cap space (because his actual salary drops) ... that might help to trade him at a reasonable "cost" ... The Ghost would then add only $950K to the cap compared to burying Alzner in the AHL ... even better, but highly unlikely is Alzner pulling a Pleks and asking to void his contract ...I believe I recall reading that KA said he feels he can still play in the NHL; in fairness, IMO Alzner could find a NHL job if he became a free agent ... but at well below his current AAV ... however, with the pending drop in his actual (take home) salary, voiding would have less (but still not insignificant) impact on what he would earn ...
  14. There has been a long-rumoured (i.e., once an actual rumour, once and then repeated ad nauseam) offer from the Flyers of The Ghost for Byron that MB supposedly refused. IMO Weber is only a "given" if he stays healthy (pro-rated 75 of 82 this past season) ... if he suffers another injury and misses a large chunk of games (24 in 18/19, 56 in 17/18) then it may not be quite so obvious ... and not certain the habs will want to let Petry come that close to free agency ... I expect he will be re-signed and protected ... 20/21 will be Fleury's second NHL season and Brook has yet to play an NHL game, so neither needs to be protected ... I see Mete as the likely "veteran" defenceman to be exposed (he need only play 19 games this season to meet the threshold)
  15. That is "looking forward" thinking ... give Poehling game action instead of sitting in a suite ... but Julien is using the lineup that he thinks gives the team the best chance of winning ... even if almost anyone subbing in for Weise would likely have minimal impact on the results. On defence I am less convinced ... not a real fan of Ouellette but grudgingly give him credit for his play ... he leads the Habs in Hits per 60 minutes, blocks/60, is 2nd in takeaways/60 and is only slightly worse than Weber (1.73/60) and Chiarot (1.83/60) but way better than Petry (3.46/60) in giveaways (Weber and Chiarot are decent comparable stylistically in that they generally just move the puck, not carry it or do anything fancy ... unlike Petry who is naturally expected to have more giveaways because he is asked to do much more with the puck) ... the "per 60 minutes" stats can't measure the quality of opposition, game situation, etc. ... but are worth something
  16. What is this PPG of which you speak? At this point, I wonder if they shouldn't try the guys that haven't been getting ANY time on the PP and see what happens ... and throw whatever "system" exists out the window ... if I counted correctly, the Habs had 12 power-plays against Pittsburgh and were credited with a grand total of 3 shots ...
  17. To make it worse, Camilleri was pulled mid-game to make the deal ... and not allowed to keep his Habs sweater ... bad deal from every angle. 🙄
  18. I was hoping for a shot at #1 too ... but hopefully you are not serious.
  19. Clearly the Rangers logo was pained with magnetic paint and the top of the tube magnetized when time came to ensure NYRs get the pick ... for YTV contract purposes 😜
  20. Wouldn't move Petry ... Weber might be an interesting option for TO but don't see Bergevin trading him ... I would target one of Kerfoot, Johnsson or Kapanen to add further scoring depth ... think a couple of them are likely to be moved to create cap space ...
  21. Thanks ... likely too sensitive on my part Hart is reputed to be "the next" Carey Price ... interesting matchup ... although neither will likely have even one shot on the other
  22. After a breakout (projected 37 goals for 82 hames) I think Nylander is at least a top 6 winger, if not first line.
