I wouldn't trade O'Byrne.

This team could be in 13th in the East/ 5th worst team in the league by Saturday. If they can't get it figured out before the olympic break, I say sell, sell, sell.

This! There are some big problems in this team, but really our top 6 are pretty good. These are some of the problems I have seen this year: DEFENSE! Our defensemen are slow and pathetic. In a posession system, it is critical that your defense are fast enough to get to the puck and hang onto it. Bottom 6. They do nothing. They don't wear down the opponent, none of them are skilled enough to step up when a top 6 guy is injured. They don't create any momentum. They basically kill time. I miss TK and Begin. JM system with a team that can't or won't impliment. The system is fundementaly good. Short fast passes, speed, puck support and backchecking. Short shifts and low risk. The problem is that the passes aren't working. 5 players in top 20 in the league for giveaways last time I checked. But of all this, I still say defense is the biggest issue. We are just too slow. I didn't watch this game, but I'm willing to bet that the points were covered hard by Tampa, forcing turnovers. There were lots of stretch passes, and Tampa sent 3 forwards in hard to forecheck. Why not...unless Markov or Hammer are on the ice, you know you will maintain posession of the puck. It's the same game plan every game.

Ya, I think it's good to have a veteran call out a young player that doesn't appear to be playing with heart. It shouldn't divide a room. The young person should really look within and ask himself how true the statement is. I don't expect much to come of this.

Thank you. You even have the same name as me. I have been trying to say this for 2 months. I say it constantly and nobody acknowledges it. This is why the Habs suck. Not BGL or Halak or Price or Patches or Diago, or any individual. This is why the team is sub par.

I think Price has more of a future in the NHL. I don't dislike either. I know this is your favourite subject, and frankly I don't know why I bother to answer you. I guess i'm bored. The idea of not liking Price at this stage in his career is just as arbritrary as saying either of them has a chance of being anything but .500 goaltenders. There are way bigger issues on the team than goaltending. I would not trade either in a non-cap world, but because we have the number 1 AHL goaltender in Dejardains, maybe trading Halak at the end of the year would be an option. Right now Halak is the better goalie. I feel much better watching him in net. I have more confidence. Right now. Please save this post and in 2012, we can look at it again. If Price is in the minors, because he is a useless bum, I will congratulate you for ranting nonstop about the subject. If he is good, (which I think he will be), you can .......Well, you know!

Halak is doing very well. I like him a lot. I am a Halak supporter. I would like to see him get a start after a win. Price is developing nicely. I am a Price supporter. It is too bad he was called up too early and Huet was let go too early. Wow, look at that. I like both goalies. Neato. I still think we should trade Halak for Ott straight up, and call up Dejardains. Unless BG can keep both next year. But I don't see that happening. The only issue is Ott is UFA at the end of the year.

They gotta keep winning. Febuary is a brutal month. Canucks, Caps, Bruins twice, Penguins, Flyers twice. It won't be an easy month.

this is not a good way to treat a player. As much as I found BGL pretty much useless on the team, it did stop the team from being bullied. I hope it turns out better, but BGL is pretty angry right now.

I imagine emotion was involved, and i think what you are saying will eventually happen. Unless he i s in so much pain that he doesn't want to play. If not, he will take a week or two, waive his clause, go to the minors, and be called up to see if he will be claimed.

Agreed. Martin needs until at least the end of 2011 season. New coach and new team as well as all of the injuries this team has had, makes it very tough to analyze the team's progress at this point. There are some red flags for me though. Under Martin's system, the team "MUST" make perfect passes! It is critical. They must be fast and on the tape. Followed by tenacious puck support in the neutral zone, then give and go in the opposition zone. It is how Detroit dominated for so long. They can't use their speed if they are having to dig for pucks or dump and chase. The passes must be perfect. If the players can't do this, then Martin's system is boring and actually takes away from the advantage of all that speed. I love how Markov still uses the stretch pass. he's like "ya jaques, i know i know. no stretch pass. But did you see how I sprung that guy and we scored? I'm friggen awesome!" hahaha

Ya, that could be by next Saturday. St. Louis, NJ, and Rangers this week. One positive, I was happy to see Benny and Josh stand up for their team mates. They didn't do half bad either.

I think th ebiggest plus for developement would be Boucher. They love him in Hamilton. How his players perform when they come up will be key. If they play the same style hockey and just blend, then developement has taken a turn for the better.
