  1. Price your the man now, so be the man. Plek, just cuz Koivu is picking it up, doesn't mean you get to drop it. Tear it up man. As for me, I,m sporting my Habs pin, which I got for Christmas, and I believe is the sole reason we are a win away from division leaders. go :hlogo: go There was a huge bust in Surrey last week, and they recovered thousands of sin cards, and passports. Just call them, they can hook you up. LOL Just kidding, that is so horrible.
  2. True, the rest of the league finally realized that the Plek line is the real #1 line. I am a little worried about Koivu to tell you the truth. Watch Koivu. The old Koivu would fight along the boards, take hits and dig for pucks to make the play. His production has gone up, but he avoids checks like the plague now. I believe he is playing hurt, and has been for a while. Haha, I just read the rest of the thread after my origional post. I am not worried about Plek. (natural segway to #2 centre) however, I am worried about........................... SAKU KOIVU
  3. WON'T TAKE OUR DEAL FOR HOSSA EH, ATLANTA BASTARDS. IN YOUR FACEC BITCHES
  4. I liked him from the start, and I still like him. I'm gonna miss having him as a Habs. I will always remember the chanting Huet Huet at the end of the 2nd only game I saw live at the Bell Centre. My daughter's Huet shirt is now a collecter's item.
  5. Sad, but proud. SAD: Gainey unloaded Huet for what he could get to free up some cap space for the Hossa deal? and because Huet was not going to be a part of the future of the team, so get what you can for him. (I don't think Gainey would have made the trade if he didn't think he would get the Hossa deal done.) However Huet is streaky, and it's only 19 regular season games. I really like Huet, and I am still in shock over this weak trade. PROUD: Gainey showed great composure and refused to enter a bidding war which would trade away the future of this very deep young team. I am also proud when I notice that the only 2 impact players on the entire team which were not brought up through the very system which Gainey was unwilling to weaken, are Hammer and Kovy. That says a lot for a team which only has one elite player. IMHO all but 2 "impact" players came from the our drafting system.
  6. Hopefully we can photoshop a Habs jersey onto the Hossa pic in the next couple hours.
  7. Wow Huet for a 09 2nd pick? Not the Rivet deal is it? Hopefully this one doesn't bite us in the rump.
  8. I am still hoping we go for a Peca or Holik or D position. I think Hossa would fit in well, and I would love having him on the team, but I think we need a true shutdown line. The Plek line is consistently shifted against the other team's shutdown line and 1st line. There are two ways to beat this. Two potent scoring lines. Or one line and a shutdown line. If you watch the team, they have the most problems with disciplined defensive teams. Carbo needs to figure out a way to counter this problem. A lot of times the only way to do this is to play defensive patient hockey and wait for your chance. Right now this team is not good at that. They are either on the attack at all times or losing. If their attack is foiled consistently, they don't appear to have the tools to get the win very often. As I said a skilled forward may be the answer, but when you look at who's behind the bench and upstairs, I would think that a Shutdown centre or Boyle or Campbell would be my preference. I am horrible at thinking up trade ideas, because I don't know enough about the team's contracts but I bet Lapierre could be involved in a trade for a centre. As for defense, I don't know. I would hate to lose prospects, and I know that any D we would be willing to part with are paid too much.
  9. Like I said, he committed to the shooter, but the defender did not play the 2nd guy. i was tought this in mini pups. Halak will be a non issue by Tuesday. He will be traded.
  10. Ya I guess you are right about the first goal. Price played the rule of thumb that the goalie plays the shooter and the defender covers the pass. Price was wasy out of position to play that pass though. As I said in my previous post, blamig Price is futile. CBJ was the dominant team tonight. THIS TEAM NEEDS A FREAKIN SHUTDOWN LINE.
  11. Looking at the game stats, you would think the Habs were all over them. Habs outshot outhit, took less penalties, less give aways and more takeaways. First two goals were soft, especialy the 2nd on, but Columbus is way more defensive than I was expecting. Foote was a beast, as was Nash. Leclaire was OK, but it was his team that collapsed and kept all the shots to the outside or sharp angle. All the good passes were deflected. I was quite impressed with the play of Columbus. Their PK was brilliant. I'd like to get mad at the Habs, but with the exception of Price's blunders, the Habs didn't lose this game, but the Jackets won it. I bet Carbo watches some tape next time the boys play a team that they never play.
  12. I was going to mention this, but I kind fo wanted to dig some stats up on Metal games for Canadians on the international stage. You are right. Our Juniors are winning. They are the future of the NHL.
  13. Hahaha....I stayed up 2 hours after night shifts waiting for this press conference, thinking there was going to be some announcement. Crap...well...off to bed.
  14. All those words sound really nice and everything, but you can't argue with numbers and facts. What I said is based on numbers and facts, and I will stick to it until I see them change. 20 years is a long time to have Europeans in the game. The fact is Canadians are the best hockey players in the world. That's it period, end of story. Here are some facts about pre 05-06 Tampa Stanley cup champs. 02-03 New Jersey Devils: 10 Canadians, 9 Americans, 4 Europeans. Captain (Scott Stevens) 01-02 Detroit Red Wings: 12 Canadians, 1 American, 10 Europeans. Captain (Steve Yzerman) 00-01 Colorado Avalanche: 13 Canadians, 3 Americans, 7 Europeans. Captain (Joe Sakic) 99-00 New Jersey Devils: 12 Canadians, 6 Americans, 5 Europeans. Captain (Scott Stevens) I'm getting tired of looking for stats, but you need more North Americans on your team . I'm not arguing that Europeans have helped the game, and play key roles, but facts are facts.
  15. He's a little streaky though. Plus he's a set-up guy. I do like him though. I am gonna start getting called Don Cherry, but I also like that he is Canadian. I like our team right now, but they are a little too Euro to win the cup. This trend could change, but it hasn't yet. For some reason, Canadian Captains and teams with high percentage of Canadians always win the cup.
  16. Huet normally comes back strong after a bad game. I expect Huet to start the next game.
  17. Regarding trades. Huet needs to stay. He might be streaky, but they need someone with some experience. Play the hot hand. Which impact player would you most like to see? My List 1. Brian Campbell (no explanation required if you know anything about hockey at all.) 2. Dan Boyle (I like strong "D". Look at the impact Hammer has made.) 3. Bobby Holik (Veteran shut down guy. Gritty, hard hitter. We play 1st line against 1st line a lot. We need a shut down line.) 4. Sundin (Consistency. Questions are, how would he fit in? How would Koivu feel being 3rd line C) 5. Hossa (Sniper, I think he would fit in well. Kinda got a Russian theme going on. Question his playoff performance though. 6. Tanguay (No thanks. Trade a streaky set up guy for a streaky sniper. Can't see it. However he is ver skilled, and I like signing and drafting Canadians. Canadians win championships.) 7. Richards. (HELL NO)
  18. In the end it was a team loss. When you get outshot 30-20, it's hard to blame the goalie. Hopefully goalie consistency does not become a problem. It's one loss...move on. I just checked Ottawa, and Pens schedules, and they both play back to back this weekend. Habs will get some rest after CBJ. Let's hope for the best. In the end all I care about is that the team continues to show character...ie: beating New Jersey at home, getting 2 points in the home at home with Ottawa. (I know Ottawa was weak for that game, but whatever.) and their come from behind win against Rags. I am very happy to see the 2nd line producing, but I am concerned that the 3rd and 4th just aren't playoff lines. 3rd and 4th lines win playoff series.
  19. Game over. Habs in 5th place. Current match up. New Jersey
  20. Shots 30-20 for Penguins. WHAT A STUPID NAME FOR A TEAM. PENGUINS. I cheer for the fuzzy bunnies. They are awesome
  21. Glide in for a hit and take a god damn charging call.
