  1. Another important one is Overall Standings..............................21st in the league.....
  2. At the end of a season, a loss is a loss, noone is going to remember that the Habs fought hard and showed heart, the only thing anyone will remember is the 50 losses and the fact that we missed the playoffs. This team/coach has been given a quarter of a season to get things back on track and was unable to do it. It doesn't matter if we lose 4-3 or 7-1. It really doesn't. I think it's great to look on the bright side, and note the things we do well but it's not enough. At the end of the day, I couldn't care less if Price was being shelled for 50 shots a game and noone on our team had more than 10 goals at the end of the season, as long as we win. I live on PEI, so the last two games haven't started here until 11:30pm, do you realize how cranky and pissed off I am at work, after being up to 3:00 watching this team lose? Not to mention my two best buddies at work are Leafs' fans. I'm dying here, Martin needs to go, I don't even care if he's not the problem, at least it's something. I don't think we are going to get a new coach and the team is going to perform any worse that our current .380 win %.
  3. I think despite the various opinions on JM and whether you like him or not, it's all irrelevent as the team is losing, we are terrible and something needs to change. I think we can all agree that what happens in this situation is the team fires their coach. This is no exception, he will be gone, whether he should be or not shouldn't be debated as I think we all know it's only a matter of time. My concern is whether or not PG is going to make the change in time for them to even have a shot of getting back into the playoff push. I, like most people would love to see the best coach available hired, but the reality is that it won't happen. We haven't had an anglo coach in Montreal in 40+ years, so instead of bitching about that, it would be more constructive to think of who would be possible candidates. The more I have been thinking about it, maybe Lemaire would be good, I know his style is similiar to JM but he is a winner, and he wins.
  4. I think when they went on their little streak and won a few games it was in spite of Martin not because of him. Whether it's right or wrong, you can't fire the entire team, they are not playing well and a change needs to be made. 9.5/10 the coach gets fired, this will be no exception. Bang!!
  5. I think this has gone on long enough. This team is not the most talented in the league but they are a hell of a lot better than this. If is very obvious that they are not playing for this coach, Cammy and Plexs had as many shots on goal as I did last night. I realize that you need to put some onus on the players, but a change is needed and it will happen this year, but the only question is, will it happen too late for us to make a push for the playoffs? I am saddened by the realization that this team will only hire francophone coaches but it is the reality so when you start talking replacements it is a pretty short list. In my eyes the obvious choices would be Marc Crawford or Bob Hartley. I would love to see Crawford coaching this team by the start of the week. I would be shocked to see Martin leave California a Canadien.
  6. I'm excited to see Pouliot tonight. I have very high hopes for him, I know he has had a lackluster career thus far, but he was playing in a very defensive minded system, and it's very obvious that Martin does not have the same type of system in place when you consider our shots on goal per game. I think he'll be given the green light and he is exactly what Gomez needs to get back on track. The pressure of Montreal may be a very good thing for him as well, as he cannot slack off and not hear it from the media like he could in Minnesota. I think he'll either flourish or be a complete bust, I don't think he'll end up sticking around as a 3rd/4th line player.
  7. Wow, I've never seen fans turn on each other so much and so often as of late. I understand everyones frustration but is it really necessary to shit all over each others opinions regarding who's fault it is? Does it really matter? The team is not winning- what is the point in arguing about why? Reading this forum lately is painful, if you have nothing constructive to add to a thread why not just log off and come back tomorrow? People should really go back and read their posts from Aug-Nov, there appears to be some very manic posters on this forum. Did people actually believe this team was going to coast into the playoffs this year? If so your unrealistic/overhyped expectations are what you should be angry with. This is a very young team that is riddled with injuries, I really can't comprehend these foolish expectations that people had.
  8. The first 4 pages of this thread were hilarious. I have to admit, when I watched the draft I was a little puzzled by the decision to draft Price but I remember thinking that Gainey/Timmons know what they are doing and to relax. I took a lot of abuse from co-workers and backed up the decision by just saying over and over, "We'll see in a few years who's laughing." At the time I was only saying that because I didn't know what else to say, luckily now I look like a genius. People still say to me how amazed they were that I could predict this would pan out. I believe we should trust the management and upper brass of this team, as they have not failed us too much since BG took over and we have constantly been improving.
  9. I am just wondering if anyone has or knows where to find a checklist of every Canadiens hockey card?
  10. Thanks for that one, I've never been there.
  11. I agree with you, Eric Engels is a great blogger as well, & I do go on hockeybuzz to read his stuff, & sometimes I do get sucked into Eklund's foolish headlines but I read them much the same way I would read a National Enquirer headline in the lineup at the grocery store. And to that point, I never come home from the store and tell my wife that Elvis was spotted at a 7Eleven. All I am saying is, that reporting on an Eklund rumour, with no other sources is very similiar to the above mentioned example.
  12. People really need to stop reading hockeybuzz.com, this guy is an absolute joke. Just go back over the last 2 months and look at all his predictions on Sundin, if you read them together it's actually funny. Please don't post his rumours on this forum, they have no basis. If you are looking for factual rumours go to www.spectorshockey.net It's not as flashy (because he waits and only posts when something is concrete or actually happening) and therefore he can be trusted.
  13. That's all fine and dandy, but what Kovalev showed this playoffs is that he still doesn't play in the playoffs. A guy can score 100 goals a year in the regular season, if he doesn't show up in the playoffs, what good is he? I realize he had a points for us, but he loafed around most of these two series and has the capability to win games, I believe if he showed up like he did for the regular season, we'd be playing in the 3rd round next week. We are shy on grit, character and heart. It's a simple as that. I'm not trying to piss all over everybody's end of the season funtime, but we had the talent to get it done this year, we just didn't have the heart. We need to add a few guys next year who can take the intensity to the next level and play playoff hockey. Having said that, I don't know how that will be done without screwing with the nucleus of the team. Daymond Langkow would be a good start. I found this whole playoff run extremely stressful and frustrating, they were not the same team I watched all season, I don't think they need a pat on the ass as much as a kick in it. We should have went further, and I'm extremely disappointed with the effort the gave and in turn making Carey stand on his head to steal games, because to be perfectly frank if it wasen't for Price we would have been gone in 5 in the first round!!
  14. Exactly, we are better on D this season coming up with our two additions as compared to last year, and it's cheaper. You should go buy a Leafs jersey, you're a joke and what I would describe as a typical leafs fan. Whine and sulk over a move that hasen't had a negative effect on the team. We haven't even started the season yet and you are whining about a depth move. I am sure you'll be the first to jump right back on the wagon when we have a good year as well. This team is in fine shape, we will make the playoffs and depending on our goaltending we could do some damage. All you whiners out there should at least wait until you have a reason to act like little bitches, give the team a couple of weeks, or at least let them get out of their golf shoes and into their skates before the bashing begins, I've never seen such a group of "Habs" fans that act like leaf fans in all my life as on this forum. Not to mention the fact that you STILL bash leaf fans and you're the exact same!!!!!
  15. This is actually not that bad of a move at all. At 700,000 he is a pretty good bargain, as a good 5-6 dman. He is no weaker on D than Souray was, in fact if he could score 30 goals a year we'd be offering him in the 5.5 million range.
  16. The word from Bleu, Blanc et Rouge now is that Gainey may be interested in Nagy and possibly Bertuzzi and Yashin. http://onveutlacoupe.blogspot.com/
  17. Esposito is not shit, he just turned 18 a few months ago and is going to be a top notch Centre in the NHL. This is a kid who also will certainly go in the top 10. Everybody is talking now like he's garbage, but wait and see where he goes in the draft. Montreal would be so lucky to get this guy at 12, there is no way. I would be shocked if he went as far as 10. Just wait and see.
  18. Plecs is the big hero on this team, once he started to heat up this season, we started to heat up again as well.
  19. I nice review of sbhatt and kost46's posts are necessary. I have never seen such a string of bad posts in my life. It seems everything they said came back and bit them in the ass. Bashing Saku, he picks up 4 assists, saying Henrik could not allow 3 goals in one game - he gets pulled after 4. I read the whole thread in one sitting and had to laugh. Abby4Life is now off the hook.
  20. We really need to win both games not only to get into the playoffs but also to give us some much needed confidence so we know that we can play with these teams. What is the point of getting into the playoffs if you are just going to go down hard in the first round. If Halak can show up and stand on his head (which he'll need to do if we expect 2 wins) we have a shot. The most important thing for this team right now is to have Halak thinking he's the best goalie in the league because without a confident goalie we are finished...even if we do slide into the playoffs.
  21. That's True. I was under the impression both Ward and Dipeitro were just DTD though.
  22. I say No, they absolutely will not make the playoffs. The main reason will be goaltending. We are the only team in this little race to the finish without our starter. That will be the difference.
