  1. Um, he would be better then all the D besides markov. So just don't pick on Dandenault. Your letting others off the hook. i would still go younger.
  2. Patrick Roy said it would be a big mistake for the Habs not to get Esposito if he is there at #12. Apparently Roy thinks he'll be a very good NHLer. For whatever that is worth.
  3. Sorry Dalhabs, the days of canning coaches for lazy players is over. They already fired 5 and it hasn't helped. The players are leaving not the coaches. I know that it's much easier for alot of to blame the coach but in reality and the facts say, it's clearly the players.
  4. The days of the Habs getting older vets are over. I don't see any plder vets coming until the Habs turn it around and become a playoff contender.
  5. The only thing stable with the Habs since 93 is the 8-11 seed. I would love Markov to stay, BG will give him what he deserves and i think he will resign. I'm making the point if UFA's go, they go. You CAN NOT overspend in the new salary cap era. (see Kovalev and Samsonov)
  6. If Markov goes he goes. More money to be spent else where. This current roster isn't going anywhere. The world is not ending if Perez doesn't resign. Same for Souray and Markov. I wasn't comparing the 2, just that they expect hard work.
  7. I think the drama in the dressing room is a little overblown. I'm not saying there are issues but i am sure there are issues everywhere just not blown up like the Habs fans and media. I think you'll find players will come if the price is right and the Habs start winning. I think players know about everyone's doghouse. I'm not Carbo is anything close but Bowman was a slave driver and people were lining upt o play for that guy.
  8. Brobin, i think the 2 sides or whatever you want to call it just have different views on the problems with this team not contending in 10 years. It's ridiculous. I do think Gainey is righting the ship. Just a year or 2 longer then i had hoped. You said the players who are whining were in the doghouse before. I would totally disagree, the last 5 coaches had this core and there was never consequences to there awfull play and effort. The coaches got canned. This is fact. Your side also blames Carbo, the few on my side say it's about time these lazy slugs who never produce lose icetime and get sat down. If you can honestly tell me what the vets or core have accomplished i would be impressed. The fact is they have done nothing. If players don't want to be a habs, that's fine with me, this team needs to add character, grit, size and work ethic. Without that, it's not going to matter who is on the roster. This is what Carbo is trying to change. Well i think that sums up the few of us who hold the players accountable see it.
  9. They want him (supposedly) for his work ethic, leadership and the PK.
  10. I read earlier that the Habs are very interested in Michael Peca.
  11. Sakiqc, if you think players like ZKovalev and i can name numerous others give a 100% everynight you must be delusional. I think most fans would be happy with a 100% effort, these lazy slugs did it maybe a handfull of games this year. It's a good thing for the players it's guarenteed money, not production and effort, there would be a lot of broke Canadiens.
  12. Yep Nilan, i totally agree, it's timefor for the whinners, soft vets, people who don't want to be here to get out. It's about time someone(Carbo) called these guys out, i said it yesterday and it still holds true, the only things that happened in the past was the coaches got canned, now when the players have to prove themselves and play hard they can't fit the bill. That is squarly on the players. How about the kids, they aren't whinning, Kosty got sent down and told to play harder, what did he do, he did it and played very well. Pleks who everyone complained about had a really good year putting up as much points and more then Samsonov and Kovalev. Komi a solid year. Higgins was good when he wasn't hurt. Lapierre and Lats good rookie years. Only the core is bitching and i for one am sick of it, they can all leave including Koivu. The have never been anything but an 8 seed missing the playoffs numerous times. The team needs to hit rock bottom before they get better and i hope there is as cleansing of the core and whinners. Someone mentioned Rivet, he gets sat once, cries about it, leaves the building, that says alot about him. Perhaps it was his play that got him benched.
  13. Well i would get a player like Hartnell for the third line. Torres, Primuea maybe. I said it on another post but you need grinders and physical players on your third and 4th lines. Montreal is way to soft, players like grabovski, perez are either going to be top liners or AHlers. There is a pattern to teams who make the playoffs and succeed. Notice anything about the teams that are left, they are tough, have size and good grinding, physical players. Torres Chipchura Johnson Begin Lapierre Goon / Milroy is fine with me for 3rd and 4th liners. The top liners have to be your top liners. i am also fine with Higgins Lats, Kosy Kovalev Ryder as top wingers.
  14. Yea, good point, if he gets his points from others hard work (including himself) he wouldn't get any points on the Habs. I'm not sure they are familiar with the "go to the net phrase". Unless it's getting the puck out of there own end. Smyth will cost too much. The Habs can only afford a poor mans anyone. They are in too deep with kovalev, Samsonov, and having to resign Markov. All the RFA have earned raises. Ryder who knows about. 30 goals may fetch him 4 mill.
  15. Well i think it has to do with some posters and fans thinking the current Habs players are the best players in the league no matter what the numbers say. For instance if this current roster was let's say the Blues, would people around the league or hockey fans be saying, WOW, look out for the Blues, they have a great roster. No they wouldn't, which is why the Habs were rated outside the playoffs by the experts and me. Mainly because there is nothing on this roster that stands out. The young players are good now and will only get better. The vets have never done anything and never will. I would take Hartnell in a second. I don't care where he plays either. He is close to Kovalev's production and for 2.5 or whatever he certainly brings more to the table then alot of current Habs. #1 is he hustles. So all this is irrelavant unless he signs.
  16. I'm not sure even Philly would take Kovalev. I actually think they'll be able to move Samsonov. BG did trade of Theo.
  17. Yes, how many times has he actually done it? Not enough to justify his salary that's for sure. I have no problem with his talent, just he is lazy, overpaid and a whinner.
  18. And how many coaches and linemates has kovalev had this problem with. Too many to count. He just fails to produce under any circumstances the last 5 years. Do you blame Carbo for that to?
  19. Well said Habs rule, also Kovalev wasn't even close to a point per game player this year. The reason players like Koivu and Kovalev didn't get more ice time was simply they can't keep the puck out of the net. What minus 50 for that pair and they warrent more ice time. 3 goals for next years team 1. Shut up and play hard. 2. Play physical and play hard. 3, show up fo more then 20 minutes a night.
  20. When has Kovalev played well for the Habs other then selected games? He certainly hasn't earned his money. Your obviously one of the posters i mentioned about always giving the players a pass. Well Carbo isn't that kind of coach and I for one am glad to see it. Call them out, sit them out, move them on, whatever, i'm fine with it. What makes coaches like keenan, Sutter, Bowman, Nolan etc great, it's there no nonsense approaches. You perform or you sit. When has 47 points and minus 19 or something worth 4.5 million?
  21. Vishnekski from Nashville is out there too, i read this morning he won't be back with the preds, a younger hard hitting D would be a nice addition as well. I think Joel Lassiter mentioned leader ship, well i don't think anyone including Koivu or Souray are great leaders. For one thing they have led this team know where, being king of the losers still makes you a loser. I see Higgins starting to become that leader, maybe Lapierre as well.
  22. It's kind of funny how the vets, core are complaining about Carbo. Why, I think i have a reason because for years they were allowed to get away with lazy, half a$$ed efforts and the only consequence was the coaches getting fired. The players always got a pass. Even the fans, media and posters here gave all the players passes. Well guess what, now they have a coach that isn't going anywhere and he has high expectations and won't put up with the non sense that has been going on for years. 3 playoffs in 8 years or something, that is pathetic. Time for the players to shut up and play hard. If not, go somewhere else.
  23. Who cares what Kovalev thinks about Carbo's communication ability. He is being paid 4.5 million and he has all the talent in the world and all he does is complain. Hey Alex, shut up, play hard and you'll get your ice time. If you don't like it, leave. I am so sick of millionare whinners when they don't get there way. If he played as hard as he complains he might be pretty good.
  24. Because there are 2 rookies on the back end. They needed a vet to split up all the rookies on the team. So i assume you would take Rivet on your team rather then the other 5 D men the Sharks have. Not me, he is number 6.
  25. You could be right, i only get youth info be reading it here. I did like what i saw the last time Kosty was called up. I think he was a point per game when playing wit Pleks and Higgins.
