  1. I think that decision on the delay of game was actually correct. IIHF rule 135 specifically excludes (from delay-of-game penalties) any structural objects above the ice surface. And the TSN camera is indeed partly over the ice surface. Not by much, but more than zero, so I think the call is correct. I thought the refereeing in the final was quite good. Some of the other games in the tournament, not so much.
  2. Yes. A first pro season in Laval would surely have been better for his development. But that's water under the bridge, it's too late to do that now.
  3. Let's not forget that Suzuki is two years older than Kotkaniemi was last year (and a year older now). And apart from that, different players develop at different rates. I really believe that it's too early to give up on Kotkaniemi.
  4. Quite right. French is not that difficult a language, coming from English, and NHL players do have spare time -- especially so in the summer. Learning conversational French would not be that onerous. Let's hope that one of the kids (Suzuki, for example) will be more willing to build on the high-school French skills to be able to communicate with the fans and the media. That could set the right example, as you say.
  5. Armia is skating, too (as is Drouin). But no word on when any of them will be ready to play.
  6. And (many if us) had high hopes for him. Yet another data point for it being hard to predict eventual goalie performance when drafting.
  7. Does that still count as a Blockaid? Two goals on 35 shots is not bad at all, I wish Kinkaid had been able to do that in Montreal. Incidentally, for anyone who didn't pay close attention to the lineups in the GDT post, the Syracuse netminder who allowed three goals on fifteen shots? Zach Fucale, whom we released a year and a half ago. His save percentage this year is just .800 ...
  8. On the positive notes ... Two goals by Lehkonen; he's easily on pace for a career high, without seeing any PP time Price playing like we expect Price to play Domi's point streak continues Scandella!
  9. Honestly, I think that was a good goal, as much as I hate to say it.
  10. By "line" I think you mean "Suzuki". We get a point. But given where we are in the standings, halfway through the season, it's really not enough, especially given the opportunity to take two.
  11. Suzuki has been playing great this season, but that was not a good move on 3-on-3.
  12. Yeah. But on this one, there was no solid evidence to overturn the call. If it had been originally called a goal, they might not have overturned that, either, though.
  13. I'll make a claim on that guarantee now!
  14. Fleury saved Chiarot's a$$ on that final PP rush by the Penguins.
  15. You can really see the absence of Gallagher and Armia on the heatmaps: not much at all happening in front of the net.
  16. 10 saves for the Rocket! Could this be the first time this year that we see a Blockaid?
  17. Petry, Weber and Chiarot are attacking aggressively, which gives breakout opportunities to the other team. But this could actually be on Julien's instructions, trying to compensate for the missing firepower from the forward lines.
  18. That last one was Petry and Weber, or non-defensive defence pairing. Scandella, on the other hand, seems to be doing OK in his first game, does he not?
  19. Not the smartest move. Domi makes a nice pass for a goal so he figures he needs to do something stupid to follow it up?
  20. There must be a stat for that? But, yeah, they are giving up way too many turnovers trying to exit their zone.
  21. They're looking better now, the first 3-4 minutes was awful.
