  1. Les 2 autres russes? Racheter les contrats de Samsonov et Kovalev? Ou les jeunes defenseurs encore en russie?
  2. How about teams with 100% sellouts get an extra 5 points, are excluded from revenue sharing and lunch with Bettman? Ok, forget the lunch. He'll probably count it against your salary cap.
  3. Please, just this. It's not so hard. And a little sandpaper on d.
  4. If the league hasn't passed him by yet, it is passing. He can skate but can't read plays well. I'm thinking about him with us. Couldn't give a fiddler's about the Sharks. At most he should play limited minutes against slower lines, or a third line. FFS, why am I still posting about a guy who plays in California??? Sorry
  5. Surprise, surprise. Rivet was an excellent sharacter guy for us, and there is no doubt that if the league hadn't tried to alter itself - with the emphasis on faster, smaller players and more offense - Rivet would still be a reliable servant, clutching and grabbing his way to a pension. The league has in a large way passed him by. I honestly don't think he is such a bad skater, it is more that he can't read a play for the life of him. Like Souray w/o the shot. Ok, better skater than Souray. But the d is shambolic with us, do we even have a system?
  6. Is Price now wearing Dryden's #29?
  7. You think you got it bad? Try living out here a season! Hope the Scum get crushed by the Sabres. Rare that I cheer the blunts against anyone, but cannot stand Ott.
  8. Hi HabRus & welcome. Is there a permanent gossip column in Sport Express about Kovalev?
  9. 5.88% pour Georges 'Super' Laraque. Il devance Briere et Brodeur par...5.88%. Du jamais vu.
  10. Georges Laraque. Pas croyable il n'est pas sur la liste, juste derrière LeCave et en avant de Brière...
  11. Bla bla bla Richards bla bla bla Richards. Don't want to miss the potential free beer. Slainte!
  12. I'm sure Kovy will be champing at the bit to bring no. 25 to us after the glowing support he got from Pat Hickey in his article. Pat Hickey has a masters degree in Russian, I hear. So ironic that he says Kovy has painted Gainey into a corner. You finished laying down that extra coat, Pat?
  13. This is becoming a bit strange. One camp says pay the kid, try and sign him because potentially (the key word here) he could be a better player than he already is and real leader on the team. The other camp says forget paying him, becasue he'll be the same as a Johnson/Bonk type player, who are overpaid thus Hartnell would be too. Obviously the Habs would not sign him at 2.5 - or whatever hypothetical figure - so he can play 3rd line checking minutes. And obviously no-one can seriously expect the second coming of Guy Lafleur here. His numbers - be they inflated by linemates or not - will probably dictate a higher salary. I guess it comes down to something like this: the 'established' scorers in the league will cost a hell of a lot more than 2.5 mil a year. At some point you have to speculate on the future. The real question is do we speculate on a guy like Hartnell, or someone else?
  14. Sorry, I meant someone who is an offensive-minded player above a defensive-minded player. Either at fw or d will do. If a d-man, someone who can move the puck well and consistently. If a fwd, someone who can score consistently (not the Michael-3-months-off-Ryder type) and kick a bit of arse.
  15. It worked for Pitts because they put a sh*te product beyond belief for how many years, fans putting up with last place teams so they can stock their draft, threatening to move the team despite very good attendance... Sorry, Habs can never get away with treating their fans with such contempt and utter disregard. The NHL needs a lottery where the worst 8-10 teams have an equal shot at the first pick. Maybe then teams like Pitts will be less inclined to tank for a 5-year stretch.
  16. 2.5 for a 3rd liner is too much, of course, if he ends up playing on the third line. I'll take it if he is a second or even first line player, which is what I was thinking of - a second- or sometimes first-line centre. So in otherwords, I, uh, agree with everyone...
  17. I think the Blunts would be mad not to resign Drury. They probably will. Smyth, I'd be stunned if we landed him. Maybe someone in their mould, but younger? But someone who is offense first, defense second.
  18. Immediate blood lines (not mine) and horse's mouth, that's all I can say. It's not speculation at all, it's a lock. 3.5 seems a bit much. Going up to 2.5 with a guy who seems to have size, youth, character, track record, versatility, potential...looks good to me.
  19. He sounds decent. Not someone who will kill us financially, and it is a secret desire of his to play for us. Grew up a Habs fan. I like the idea of a guy with a lot of grit who chips in w/20-25 goals and kills penalties. Jason Ward with more upside, I'll take that. At 25 and already a vet, it is a nice mix. Not something that will win us a cup, but get us closer. Plus, we can't litter the 2-3-4 lines with only kids. And a big thing, he's won more games in the past couple of years than, er, um, can't think of them now...
  20. Apparently he is a huge Habs fan and would love to play for us. I think he is some sort of free agent this year. Anyone seen him play? His stats aren't overly impressive. A third liner if the third line is more offensive? No idea about his cap hit either.
  21. I take it back. I just read about how the Red Bull guy raped the football club, Salzburg. Major c**t. Avoid like the plague. If Gilette did sell to him, I would expect the league to come in and protect us, as they did the Pens. Or are we nothing to Buttman & his bum-boys? Hopefully, George is just having a suck attack after blowing it to the Laffs.
  22. If it were up to me, it would be tattooed on every player somewhere. Ah, feudalism...
  23. 'Bell Centre' is sh*te. If it ain't 'The Forum', it just ain't. LFC is a real playaz market. I hate to say it, but we are small potatoes when it comes to filling Rafa's wish list. They want to win the Prem, which means somehow knocking out Chelsea's spending power and Man U's talent machine. These are challenges which the whole sporting world will be watching (anyone who's been to Thailand will know what I'm talking about). Red Bull seem flush with cash and getting into the sporting world big time - everything from F1 to MLS. They have ga-zillions, sad to see Gilette go if true but whatever, trading cards for the uber-rich. As long as we can spend to the cap limit, we're fine. No clue if they are hands-on/hands-off people.
  24. Higgins-Plekanek-Kostitsyn, on ne le touche pas. Potentiel ligne no.1 saison prochaine. Latendresse-Lapierre, ça marche avec un vrai 'playmaker'. Après ça, ça dépend sur les agents libres, additions et départs.
  25. Here's a small stat they somehow overlooked: 0 playoff games this season.
