  1. I should have gone to that game in Hamilton last night...I'm a dumbass.
  2. I went to a second round game against Manitoba and we lost....it was a very bad game, nobody could make a pass and the defence was terrible...even Price looked shaky. and oh yeah I am broke....getting married in a month can do that to you I guess...If I am to go I have to ok it with the boss first. ...but it would be nice to see the cup presentation, if I go I'll take some good notes for you guys. no yashin please we have too many lazy Russians already.......let just concentrate on the D this off season (1 good UFA D-man, not including Souray of course )
  3. I am thinking about going to the final game tonight in Hamilton....to get a good look at Price myself I live only 20 mins away
  4. O'Donnell, or Hannan would be a good partner for Souray if we can't keep Souray I go for Rafalski or Timmonen good list by the way... I also think that Schnieder might be worth a look if he can come for cheap(ish)
  5. please, please, please stay away from Yashin..... or just no more lazy bums. yes I totally agree!!!!
  6. I was being sarcastic, something I would think that you'd understand judging from your latest post. But that is besides the point, because I really don't want to get into some stupid argument over how I said something or how you interpreted it, to put it bluntly... I'm over it. The only thing I hate more than reading others arguments over semantics, is getting into those arguments my self. I may have overreacted by calling you a smartass, but I get really upset we people bash the comments of others not just mine (especially mine ). It is obvious that we are both big Habs fans, and I understand that loving something so much can make it a touchy subject at times , believe me I know this first hand. Which makes this whole forum an emotional mine field, as I am sure we all love the Habs very much. besides, they would have to be stupid to give us Bergeron, even for Ryder and a 1st, Bergeron is the kind of player that makes other around him better and Ryder...well...he can score? Unless Gainey can swing some kind of magical three way deal its not going to happen, much to my chagrin. GO HABS GO :hlogo:
  7. First off I'd like to say that I do like him, I think that he is a really good player. But i fear that he will not turn out the same performance as the last two years in which he had 30 and 37 goals respectively. Previously was hovering around the 20 goal mark for 6 years. He only really exploded in production in Buffalo after the lock out, and the habs are not at the level of Buffalo offensively we already have players like Plekanec and Higgins, that show much the same qualities of Drury, albiet with less experience. I just think that 6-7 mil can be better spent for this team, just for example Olli Jokinen is a 5 Mil player and I think that he would fit our team better than Drury, or Marleau at 4 mil would be good. (these are just examples I know that there are differences between tradeing and signing UFA in terms of $). We need a guy that can carry a line by himself if need be, I am just not sure that Drury can be that guy on this team, not for 6-7 mil. I hope this cleared up my point of view
  8. I wouldn't give Briere 7 mil either. The Habs don't need players like those, they need size up the middle. let the other teams who already have size worry about how much they can over spend on Drury or Briere, Neither of them is worth more than 5 to this team, the Habs simply can't afford it for the type of players they already have. i realize that Drury is way better than Sammsonov, but he will also not fit in on this team....just like Sammy
  9. 6 mil is too much for us to spend on Drury....don't get me wrong, i like him but we need a bigger body up front. If it didn't work out we'd be stuck with it, just like Sammy
  10. do you want to see halak or price in boston?Huet? how about Higgins? or Kostysin either of them? Latendress? Koivu? the point is smart ass that when trading with a divisional rival try to rip them off.....if you had spent a little time reading what I had said instead of bashing my light hearted comments you would have realized what it is I was saying seriously tho I would give up Ryder and first round pick besides I'm sure they have janitors on the payrole already
  11. I like your idea of dumping the D but I think that if Souray is signed we have no room left for Selanne or Druy let alone both of them, plus Schnieder/D.Markov. Emilen is a good idea and so is schnieder if Souray goes south. Markov/Komi Schieder/Emilen Streit/Volentenko or Gorges or Hannan(wishful) I like the Idea of having a big Russian blue line (sounds intimidating three players talking Russian back there ) I too have been to a few Hamilton Games this year and I have to agree with you about Grabovski, but I think that Chips would do well on a line with Lapierre and Begin/Johnson, or perhaps on a third line centered by Plekanec if we some how get a 1st line center. How bout an all bulldogs line of Lapierre/Plekanec/Chips....just too bad there all centers (I see a lot of Higgins in Chips...figuritively of course) GO HABS GO
  12. I really, really like Bergeron, I think that it would be worth giving up some of our own youth for him. trade Perezhogin's rights and Danis and a first rounder oh hell give them the Cube as well. (it will be comical to see Boulion and Chara on the same defensive pairing) mabie Sammsonov? (crossing my fingers)
  13. wow, that guy really has a hard-on for Lahti
  14. yaahhhhhh!!!!! TSN is also reporting aswell I wonder what the deal was finally worth?
  15. I didn't say that you have to overpay your core but rather that you have to sign them. I wouldn't give Souray 7 Mil a year but I think that he is worth 4-5 to this team. He is a leader, a veteran, and he can score goals from the back end. Unfortunately there aren't 30 Prongers or Neidermiers (sp) in the league so not everyone can get one, so we have to deal with what we have, and right now I don't see us getting anything better this offseason in the 4-5 mil range than Souray. If Gainey is true to his word, and I have no reason to doubt him, then he is going to try to build this team from within and that means getting our top prospects from Russia over here and under contract. I think that with Markov, Souray, Komisarik, Emelin, Volentenko, Striet, O'Biren, and Fischer we will have a dangerous and reliable defence in the years to come. Mabie not this year but in two years I think that we will be fine. And the added benifit of useing youngsters is that they are cheaper, and we need all the help we can get, with the likes of Kovalev sucking up cap room for the next two years
  16. you're half right, so far...about the moneys that is. But I also agree with you about needing to sign your core players, and Souray is definitely a core player for us. If we can move one of either Dandenault or Boulion, and replace them with a cheaper alternative such as Yemilen, Volentenko or Striet on a full time basis then we would also have the opprotunity to sign\trade for that first line center we've needed for so long (Marleau?).
  17. At first I was a little bit shocked by the Number, but the more I think about it I come to accept the fact that Markov would have been one of the top defence-men available as an UFA this summer. He would have Commanded at least this much on the open market. we could definitely do no better trying to sign Rafalski or Timmonen But, this is just a preliminary report the numbers could be incorrect.....5 years instead of 4?(wishfull thinking)
  18. I also think that Hamilton would be great (as I live only 25mins away), but I don't think that a central division with only one canadian team would work. Other Canadian teams would like to see the Hamilton Team more often than just four times a year, but the Americans could care less about Hamilton. Toronto - could you imagine the the rivalry between Toronto and Hamilton after 8 games in a season! Hamilton Buffalo Detroit Chicago Bonus:: Toronto would probably be last in that division which would bring a smile to my face
  19. my french is not that good, does this mean that it is likely that we will be able to sign one of these players to a northamerican team this year
  20. I really don't see Kovalev going anywhere, just becuse nobody wants him, so this is what I see happening.... Kovalev-Koivu-Ryder Higgins-UFA(Briere)-kostysin Latendress-Plekanec-UFA(Walker, Hartnell) youngster(Locke)-Lapierre-Begin Markov-Komi UFA(Rafalski)-UFA(Hannan would be nice) Striet-Emelin/Volentenko the cube and Dandenault are both expendable, Souray is not worth it. Rafalski would rock as well as Hannan although I don't think that Briere is the best fit for this team, as he is small and we need big, he is the most likely UFA to sign here. what I would really like to see is Marleau or Lecavalier but thats too big a wish list two months before christmas. (Koivu+Huet+1st round = Lecavalier, at least)
  21. I'm all for the Sabers and Ducks, it would be a great finale. (and I hate both the Sens and Wings) by the way most leaf fans hate the Sabers just as much as they Hate the Sens. (being from Niagara I am halfway between Buffalo and Toronto)
  22. yeah i don't see them having any interest in Kovalev unless we throw in Higgins to sweeten the deal. I do however think that they would seriously consider Koivu, Huet or Halak + 2 first rounders. (or something like that)
