  1. I think Latendresse is more our future John Leclair . More so than Higgins or anyone else on the farm. Just like Leclair, he shows these moments of greatness for very short bursts. Which I don't consider streaky, It's more a process of development. I remember Leclair would always dominate pre-season. 10 goals in 10 games, when the season would start he would sort of disappear. I kept taking him in last rounds of my hockey pools as a dark horse and people would laugh me out of the house. Sure enough he went on to become a regular 50 goal scorer. I think Latendresse has the goods and we should be very patient with him. He may be our next 50 goal guy. I'm actually really happy that we have so much youth doing well that the media has left Latendresse alone. It would be such a pain if he was all we had and the media was calling him a bust. That kid has a bright future and I can't wait to see it evolve.
  2. No matter what the situation is,was, or is going to be I don't put these two players in the same category. Kovalev will only get stronger in the play-offs and Ribs will crawl into a hole. Knock on wood that this new Kovalev will continue to dominate for the red, white and blue for years to come, but considering what we saw last year from Kovy I'm always a little freaked out by the possible disappearing act that he is capable of. Besides who is Ribeiro? Yes No Tie Who Cares
  3. Price is huge. He should have just body checked Thorton. Why don't goalies just hit....????
  4. Good on Lats, but not as good as Saks vision to find Ryder. That was sweet.
  5. F**CK If thomas didn't rob Kovy twice he'd have 4 tonight. Chara sucks!
  6. Scary Carey!!!! I see some bobble head action I'm not liking.
  7. Were me eye balls deceiving or when that Bruin tried to nail Markov and ended up in the Habs bench. Did Saku punch him? Anyone see that?
  8. Ya, I remember last year when Markov went down, we couldn't win a game. The team just fell apart. This year we really looked weak when Hammer was out. We do owe much of our season to Kovy and Pleks, but there has been a few games where the first line was shut down and we still came out and looked good. It would be interesting to see who would pick up the slack should Kovy get hurt. I don't think this team relies on him and there is a lot of confidence with the youngsters. A line with Pleks and the two TlTS would be my surprise guess as to who would seaze the moment. Let's hope we don't need to find out this year.
  9. Well, when Halak takes us on a ride to the finals after Price falters in the first round, everyone on these boards can use that as an excuse.
  10. Ya ...I was going to say. Price thinks the design looks cool. That's not saying much. I'm scared to see them.
  11. That is the only reason Huet would worry me even more so than Ovechkin. Sure, we may know all his weak spots, but he knows our scorer's tendencies, our plays, our game strategies. To top it all off we also know that he can be really good too. Ottawa, Carolina, NYR etc.......They are just good teams we can and need to beat. Washington and Pittsburgh have an extra edge that we don't. A couple of players that want to beat us..... just because. I don't like that. It would almost be like the Leafs grabbing the eighth spot and us in first. I know we have a better team, but I wouldn't be comfortable........ I don't think I need to explain that one.
  12. This really bummmmmmmmmmmmsssssssssssssssss me out!!!!!!!!!!!! I spend so much time and money following my favourite sports teams. Mostly the Montreal Canadiens, hanging on every pass, shot, point in the standings etc....... WTF The politics of the game burn my a$$. My Dad was always cynical about the whole world of sports, well, life in general. How strings are pulled and one hand washes the other in the name of POWER and MONEY. It drove me nuts. When things like this happen and it proves my Dad right again, I just want to explode with anger. :puke: :puke: How is this fair? We have a Chris Simon incident , in which actions are equal but the penalty isn't even close. BULLS**T!!!!!!!! I guess there is only one thing that keeps me from shooting myself, the fact that Bettman doesn't love the Leafs. Watching him stack that franchise and bending the rules for they're glory would surely kill me. I just don't get it.
  13. Of course it's fun to look at the standings and predict who we should play, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd take on anyone at this point. Seriously......just friggin glad to finally be in the play-offs 2-3 weeks before they start is a nice change. Teams are flipping positions so fast. If we were to end up in first I'm not so sure we would get Boston or Philly. Phillly has been crap lately and dropping, while Boston has slumped and they play us twice and Ottawa twice. This leaves a fat window open for Buffalo and Washington to climb in, who have been playing well. Washington would not be a good first round opponent that's for sure. The team I fear most is Pittsburgh. Sid just has it in for us and that's not good, maybe Price would have something to say about that, but everyone else? we can beat...... even Ottawa.
  14. The longer we don't score I smell trouble. If we pop one or two in the next few minutes we'll kill them
  15. You know that would have been in if Price was in net.
  16. LATENDRESSE LOOKS F**CKIN READY!!!!! LOOK_OUT!!!!
  17. Ever since this thread was posted I've had a massive spiral backwards into my youth. I can seriously attach almost all my memories somehow and in some way to the Habs. At first it was Dryden, than Lafleur. I actually was a part of a Guy Lafleur fanclub. Some notebook of lined paper I got at Shoppers drug mart. It had a picture of Guy on the front, but not like a hockey card action shot. It was him dressed in jeans, and a dress shirt leaning on a tree with the wind blowing through his hair. He looked like Neil Diamond and quite gay actually. LOL!!!!!! Anyways, in the back of the book was an application for the fanclub, I still think I have the membership card which had that goofy autograph of his, where he puts the flower at the end of his name. I ended up finally getting a Jersey when I got older. Richer!!!!!!! The man! at that point anyway. Ended up being my lucky Jersey for years until 1993. In the first round I got a little worried against Quebec. So I carefully cut off his numbers and name. Need I say more. It's still my lucky Jersey. Two more Jerseys made it into my closet after that. Kirk Muller which is signed, and believe it or not Lyle Odelein. The big 24!!!!!! Wonder if they'll ever retire that one. He did get 5 assists in one game to tie a Montreal Canadiens record held by Doug Harvey. Wish we had a guy like him now. A good solid stay at home defenseman who can fight his ass off. I loved that guy, who knows why? Maybe that's why I like The Cube so much now. To a lesser degree he reminds me of Cornelius(Lyle looking like an ape joke) My favourite Habs now? Saku. Don't want to argue with anyone about this, but he's one of the greatest people to live, let alone be the captain of my favourite team. The next big thing in Montreal, and who I find myself pondering the idea of getting another Jersey for old times sake is #74. Back to the Spiral. See who remembers this stuff. I was looking for something else. It was a video with "The triple crown" line of Marcel Dionne, Charlie Simmer and Dave Taylor and came across this. Have a laugh boys. *DISCLAIMER- Not Habs related, but very funny none the less. Hurtin for the Certain
  18. Well with that piss-poor effort we drop 1st place to 5th. Hmmmmmmmm. No worries we'll pick it up this weekend.
