Tonight's game GDT Montréal - Boston

The trade deadline is what I'm referring to - see my other post. I think that at this point you start planting the seeds and build up an auction, rather then PG's usual KGB approach. If we continue losing like this, I also think you try and help the guys you want to move pad their numbers as you get closer to the deadline. Go to CAmmy and tell him, if you dint like it here, start producing and I'll move you to a contender. -

Since last spring and repeatedly throughout the year I've been saying he belongs on the wing. While homer is out, I'd rather have Cammy at centre over DD. -

Yeah we are missing an entire line, so as usual the Martin/PG/Cunneyworth cheerleader has no issue when darche or Moen get more ice time then AK46, Cole, maxpac, Cammy, DD, Eller. Not only does he get more ice time then them, but gets nearly DOUBLE the amount of time that Eller or AK46 got. Ellet could even have been used on the PK more - looked pretty damn good to me on the PK tonight! Moen looked great on that game winning goal didn't he. If that was Leblanc you'd probably be throwing him under the bus like Martin! Last game it was darche, tonight Moen. On top of that even though darche got less time, he still got more then Niko, ak46 and Eller and only 6 sec less then Cole and 33 sec less then Maxpac and 1 1/2 min less then DD. I won't bother to say bow many minutes more he got over Leblanc. That is really a recipe for success!! -
The idea is to sign or trade for guys in the summer- like Florida did this past summer. Is there any point in keeping Kaberle if we aren't a playoff team at the deadline??? Great we can have a slightly improved PP that will allow us to finish 20th in the league then 25th!!! Yeah!!!! Did you actually ready post or just look at the headings????? I'd move Gionta if we can get a decent return (blue chip prospect or 1st rounder). We have enough small players and I'll take DD at under $1m over the $5m Gionta is getting, particularly one one of our best young prospects - gallager is also around 5'6" and bournvil is also a pretty small guy. I also said ideally I'd like to keep one of Diaz or weber, but it's obviously you really didn't bother to read the post and came in with your usual Martin and PG pom poms!

Any team that has moen or Darche playing over 20 minutes is not a playoff team. -
Who would you pick as a long term coach?

I think that would be the #1 criteria for the damn media in this city. -

I think it will be coach and GM ranting The team is so pathetic, depressing, boring, that you have to some way of venting -

Yes he did. But do you honestly think the media jackels are going to be willing to let someone LEARN french AFTER taking the job??? Damphouse.... makes me think of Houle. I think he has about as much experience as Houle did. Not a big fan of Roy, but at least he has more experience then Damphouse. Yep - that's why i wish they had fired Martin's ass last year. -
I've seen enough of this crap this year. The coaching change replaced a 59 year old Martin with a 50 year old clone - so not much of a change. I've read a lot of opinions on how the habs should proceed this year and next. From the blind optimism of wanting to squeak into the playoffs, to the blow up the lineup. I'd for the latter - but limiting the blow-up from what I've read. I read one blog on eye on the prize that suggested a complete blow out if we are out by the deadline, that included a real dumb suggestion of trading AK46 for a 1st rounder and replacing him with either Penner (seriously???? Like we need another big guy at the forward position who is just at inept at using his size as Gill is on D), or The always injured Hemsky (at least he would fit right in on our team infirmary). I think its a moot point, because PG is going to be trying to save his ass, so can't see him being a seller. For this team to be successful and not have the same shit next year, we need major changes. We need a new GM, a new coach - too bad we can't also get a new owner with some balls, but that's another discussion. What I wanted to do is get some perspective on is the feeling here on who should go and who should stay for our future success, if at the deadline it looks like we are out of the playoffs (strong chance given that I think NJ, Buffalo and Washing should get the 6,7, 8 positions). I think the bruins and Flyers have shown that you can rebuild pretty quickly with some good trades and signings. So here are my suggested moves on who to keep and who to dump, if it looks like we are out at the deadline, may as well get a decent return and help us get a lottery pick as well. THE KEEPERS: Defense: -Markov -Subban - The way he is playing right now probably warrants a 2 year/$3M -Gorges - On Jan 1/2011 offer him 6 years at $3.25-$3.5M -Emelin Forwards: -Pleks -Cole -MaxPac -DD - I don't want him to continue being a centre. -AK46 - offer him between $4M-$4.5M for 6-7 years -Eller THE DUMP: Defence: -Kaberle - prays he turns things around and someone wants him. We wont' rape anyone like Burke raped the bruins, but could bring a 2nd rounder -Gill - Should be a good trading chip for someone on a cup run. Minimum return should be a 3rd rounder, possibly 2nd. -Weber - I think he is going to be a pretty good #4 dman - perfect example of someone I think Martin messed up, but if we can get a 2nd rounder, at this point, we are doing well. -Diaz - Wouldn't mind keeping him, but if he brings a 2nd rounder, go for it (would want to keep at least one of Weber/Diaz) -Campoli - brought a 2nd rounder last year, should at least bring a 3rd this year Offence: -Moen - 4th, possibly a 3rd round pick -Darche - doubt if he has any value or if anyone wants him unless the Nordiques come back -Cammy - Should be able to get at least a 1st rounder, but I'd try harder for a good young centre if packaged with other parts -Gionta - I like his character, but one guy under 5'6" is enough (especially with Gallaher also coming soon), should provide some return. If we can't get a decent return though, I'd keep him for his leadership. -Gomez - too bad no would want him - enough said! Hopefully the CBA will have a buyout, otherwise put a gun to Molson's head and tell him to bury him in the minors by having a campaign to boycott Molson's. Strategy would be to either pick up solid blue-chip prospects at the deadline or draft picks and then fill the roster with UFA's on July 1st. I'm not sure what the Flyers cap situation is aside from having Pronger's room and its too bad Giroux is probably going to be back (I know that sounds awaful, but I despise the FLyers and Bruins). Freidman said they are one of the teams who may wait to see if they can't snag Weber or Suter from Nashville at the deadline. IF they can't and IF Kaberle suddenly does turn things around, I wonder if we could take a lousy contract of their hands and send Gill, Kaberle and Cammy for a guy like Brandon Schenn????? I really would like to see if we can move some of our guys like Cammy, Gionta, Kaberle, Gill, Moen for young solid big Dman or Centre prospects from a team that is looking to win this year. I'd even be willing to move some of the keepers listed, but only if the replacement represented a huge upgrade going forward. Not interested in moving Pleks unless its for a young can't miss centre who represents a hugh upgrade. For me to consider moving Subban, it would have to be for guys that aren't available (i.e. Malkin, I did mention Malkin right?)

At this point, I'd rather build for next year. This year is done. Had they gotton a coach that was bringing a different message, we might have had a chance. Now, even if we do get into the playoffs by squeaking in again, does anyone honestly think we have a chance against the bruins or Flyers??? -

I became a hockey and habs fan, immidately after coming to canada in 75, when the broad street bullies were king. Been a habs fan since. We had an english speaking coach then, who is either the #1 or #2 greatest coach of all time. The other guy also happened to be the habs great english coach. The language politics has resulted in most head offices being moved from Quebec to Ontario. Now the same damn language politics has turned a once model franchise into the friggin mickey mouse club Gretzky called the devils. Oh, and the devils have modeled their organization on those great habs teams. I never lived in quebec - pretty much lived my whole life in Calgary, but grew up reading about Habs hisory, so its not like i don't get the importance of the habs historically. I can't speak french, but knew just enough to keep track of the score or the play to listen to the French CBC radio canada broadcasts on the radio, back when the CBC TV broadcasts were leafs or flames games on hockey night in canada and there were no weeknight games in calgary, other then flames - long before TSN. But hell, we are in 2011 now - people need to get their assess out of the 50's, the quiet revolution of the 60's and the FLQ days of the 70's. Dryden called this in the Game in 1980/1981(??) when he said that the quebecrs will need to choose being french or winning. I guess most of the damn french media, would rather be french then win. -

I wouldn't give up more then a 2nd. But didn't the leafs actually get him for less though (along with picking up Lombardi's contract - but then the leafs won't be afraid to dump him to the minors, unlike Molson with Gomez)??? -

Give me a friggin break. You honestly don't think there was anything wrong with Martin throwing the rookies/young players under the bus after every game??? The veterans certainly weren't responding to him and looks like they don't like the younger anglo-Martin clone that PG replaced him with. He is making the same idiotic decsions as Martin. -

I just dumped Cammy from my favorites on my profile and replaced him by Cole. I'm still worried about him being signed for 4 years (1 year longer then what I would have liked), but he sure looks damn good right now and I think is our most consistent player along with Ak46. -

What pisses me off is that the leafs got him (They weren't expecting Lombardi to play anyways) and Liles pretty cheap. Take away the idiotic signings in his first year and the Kessel deal and I think Burke has made better moves - still can't stand the blow hard. Leaf's issue is they also have a lousy coach. Habs can't get the PP going this year, and Wilson hasn't been able to put together a PK in his 3-4 years in TO! -

Sorry, too foul of a mood to detect sarcasm right now. -
With Molson so afraid of lost beer sales by having a english coach, can't see him willing to eat Gomez's contract either.

Yeah, but the bruins knew that they really didn't need an A game against the Habs. They really didn't plY all that well either, but still had a relatively easy win. -

The sad thing is that it's been our veterans that have been costing us, despite Martin continuously throwing the rookies and young players under the bus in his post game interviews. -
