  1. You all said you wanted him gone. So now he's gone. Good call. Waivers was the wrong place to lose a guy who doesn't make much money.
  2. It looked more like Bertuzzi fell than he wanted to drive him into the ice.
  3. Being a Canucks fan second to a Habs fan, I know the rivalry between these teams and the players involved. This is NOT the second coming of McSorely. Marty used a weapon and swung it at Brashear. This is more like the Matt Johnson/Jeff Beukeboom incident, where Johnson recieved 12 games. The Canucks have 13 games left, so I don't think it's gonna be into the playoffs. It's a possibility, though. Hearing is Wednesday at 9am ET in Toronto. We'll see then.
  4. How can tickets go on sale if you don't even know who we're playing and when? Is it just sort of reserving them? If so, do you get your money back if we don't make it far?
  5. Man, if that line didn't score, they'd be in my goal-by-goal doghouse for the second straight game.
  6. He's an excellent PKer and has really picked up the loss from Bulis, Sundstrom, and Souray being out. Think of him as another Begin, but a bit smarter of a player and a little less of a "crash-and-bang" guy. He still hits frequently, though.
  7. Someone wanna explain to me why Langdon got a double-minor for finishing a check? BTW - If anyone could give me a list of the lines for tonight, including the defenceman, please email to me (sarentov@hotmail.com) or use the buttons at the bottom of my post to reach my Yahoo, ICQ, or MSN messenger. 8. What about that pass from Koivu? Tape to tape, barely legal pass. Doesn't get much sweeter than that, folks. Makes the trap look stupid.
  9. Yeah, but I feel bad. I remember what it was like having to watch the scoreboards or listen over the net...or not having any of those at all.
  10. Goal-by-Goal's up. Sorry guys, I was at work until the end of the 1st period, but nobody was here to cover me. I apologize for the tardiness. It'll be updated properly for the rest of the game, though.
  11. I'd like to see this in the bottom two lines: Sundstrom - Dowd - Dackell Kilger - Begin - Ward Two solid defensive lines, and a bit of grit on each one. Dackell will be usefull in the corners, and Dowd is great at cycling the puck.
  12. The problem I see with the lineup (and the players we have in our bottom two lines in general) is that we just don't have the grit needed to go somewhere in the playoffs. Begin-Dowd-Ward could do some gritty crash-and-bang plays, but that's just not enough.

  14. Rivet is a good man for Komisarek to learn from. He's a team-first guy who loves to hit, has a mean streak, and will do anything to win, including sticking up for his team and fighting. Komisarek also looks a lot more confident with the puck. I'm starting to hear "AND WHAT A CHANCE BY KOMISAREK!!" during games more often now.
  15. Yeah, but you also weren't allowed to pass the puck forwards in the offensive zone back then. And players couldn't shoot high at all. The shots were really lacking.
  16. This BS on hitting Garon has to stop. This is getting to be a scrappy game, and someone needs to stop Garon from getting run into and costing us a goal or a backup.
  17. I seperated my shoulder on the forecheck by getting my stick tied up in some guy's skates. I felt pretty good, so I played 2 days afterwards but could barely finish the game because of the pain. Found out later that week I did some damage and I missed 6 weeks (was supposed to miss 6 months), and returned just before our playoffs started. So the morale of this story is that seemingly little things can really do a lot of damage.
  18. I never said Ribeiro should play wing. I said Perrault should take the important faceoffs and then switch to the win right after the faceoff.
  19. I wouldn't be suprised if he scored nothing in his first game. He's the kind of player our boys aren't used to playing with, so everyone needs a little time.
  20. I like the Zednik - Koivu - Kovalev line. They just have to get used to each other. If you look at when they were on in the first period, Kovalev would make lots of little moves to create some time then fire off a pass. Nobody was expecting it. We're used to Bulis or Zednik coming down the wing and either dumping the puck or losing it. So it's a matter of expecting a pass that not many players are able to make. Secondly, I think Perrault on the 2nd line works. Perrault - Ribeiro - Ryder. Ribeiro is one of the worst faceoff centers in the league right now. Let Perrault take the important draws, then switch over to the wing afterwards. It makes this line able to play in big situations in the playoffs and gives them the ability to skate without Pierre Dagenais. I don't care what people say, I LIKE Dagenais on the third line with Begin and Ward. That's a big guy (or a big guy and two guys who play really big) line. Dagenais has slowly been learning that he needs to use his size more to stay in the lineup. Having those three on the line makes us an even more legitmate threat. Begin and Ward are very responsible defensively, but own limited offensive skills. Dagenais could benefit working with two guys who play with their heart and soul and forecheck like someone stole their baby. The fourth line looks really good too, although it pains me to say this...we need another enforcer. I love Langdon, but we needed a Simon-type player. Someone who can score a bit AND fight. That way we could get some 4th line scoring from Dowd working the body, Dackell working the corners, and the cycling game they play so well. Ah well, Langdon will always be there with a smile and a late bodycheck. Can't blame him for trying. :ghg: [Edited on 2004/3/6 by Toren]
  21. If ANY of you questioned Koivu's leadership, you need to take a look at today's game. That means YOU, Demers. The shift after Markov recieved that late boarding hit from Doan, Koivu found Doan and just smoked him with a big hit. That's what makes him our captain, and that's why he is the number 1 center on our team.
  22. Not to down the Coyotes, but this isn't a real important or high-profile game. It also leads me to beleive Theo will start tomorrow, because Garon should be able to easily handle the Coyotes. So, Kovalev is probably just gonna rest and get ready for tomorrow.
  23. What, the Kovalev deal wasn't big enough for you?
  24. Don't get me started on the Wild and the Ducks. Look at them now? They ducks have the cinderella Playoff Hangover, and the Wild just...suck. You could never consider them playoff contenders. Both the teams you mentioned are out of the playoff run. And the Ducks had Paul Kariya with a big contract. And Brodeur makes a lot of money, so he's a big superstar with a big contract. So in reality, it's really true. The cup contenders have things in common. They all have big-name players, and they have a goalie who can step it up big time.
