  1. I have tons of work to do, so I'm procrastinating like mad by posting all over HW
  2. Buy low, sell high. There's no point in trading a struggling player for the proverbial bag of pucks.
  3. Trizzak: I think you are mistaken if you think BG is not paying attention to what his coach is doing. If I'm BG I look at the last game and think: "well, he kept Kost on the bench, too bad; I would have liked to see what he could do at this level. At least, Dags is going again and we won the game thank God. CJ did a good job with a short bench. Hopefully after the break we'll have everybody back except Kovy so I can get a better idea of what I need to do to improve the team ".
  4. Your estimate of the team as average might be correct, but I for one am happy that BG didnt sign any other FA's. We needed room for the rookies to play and if they continue their strong development we might surprize a couple of teams come playoff time. I believe that Bob's got a plan and he's sticking to it
  5. My position is that I like every member of the Habs until they go to another team. Exceptions to this rule do occur: EG: Chezecauski, Berezin, Traverse, Murray Baron(especially Murray Baron) who I wanted to get rid of ASAP Dags doesnt fall into this category, IMHO, because I think he really wants to be in MTL and is trying his best to stay. And, there are a few that I still liked after they left MTL Chelios, Robinson, Quintal. I'm not eager to trade anyone right now as I think all will be well when a few injuries have healed. Any team with the injuries and suspensions we had would have had problems
  6. It greatly troubles me that representatives of our beloved franchise would try to quash free expression in such a stupidly, heavy-handed way. Oh well, I rarely bother with the "official" website the information and the discussion is much more lively and current here. Thanks again HW :/)
  7. If we're going to get a D-man, I agree with BTH that Kasperitus would look good in MTL. What we really need is for the team to get healthy again
  8. I think that to make the deal more palatable for Van and salary cap efficient for us we would have to include another player in the deal. Unfortunately, I can't see why Van would do it without getting our starting goalie [Edited on 2005/12/4 by PMAC]
  9. I don't think that Higgins or Perezhoghin are going anywhere. A well deserved break followed by some good practices with their teammates will do them much more good than playing in Hamilton. Kost and Murray didnt play. Dags scored two goals and the team won. Mission accomplished. Would anyone be happy if those two had played and made a rookie mistake that cost us the game. A prudent move by CJ. I must say though, having just (mostly) sat through a veterans rugby tournament by an over-competitive coach that I really sympathized with Murray. To be so close to playing for MTL and not leave the bench AAARGH It must have been hard for him, especially with his parents there.
  10. My favorite city to live would be Halifax. Small, but with enough to do to keep from getting bored but without most of the probs of big cities. I actually liked New York when I visited. The one place I've been that I couldnt live is Beijing. I loved the atmosphere and the culture, but the pollution was so horrendous that it makes Seoul, Bankok and Cario look clean. BTW, for those who don't like winter the UAE is the place to be. It is clear and sunny for about 350 days/yr. The climate is nice from Nov-April (Ave daytime temp about 24C). The summer a nice balmy 40-50C with 80-95% humidity-- We're gone from late June to mid August Unfortunately, I miss snow, so much so that I'm thinking about taking my Jan leave in Canada. I really want for my son to have his first skating lesson outside on natural ice like I did. He's 2.5 and he's never seen snow except on TV. Snowball fights, sledding and warm drinks haunt my dreams while nostalgia has dimmed the cold, snow shovelling and other assorted misery.
  11. In the NHL, the Habs Stevie B, Koivu Other team's Players? Can't think of anyone current Other Favorite teams: Montreal Alouettes Pre-1994 the EX-pos Canada in Rugby(and anything else); Samoa in Rugby because these guys are the hardest hitters in world rugby.
  12. The Montador part I kind of understand because of the salary cap, but why an additional player?!
  13. I hope Murray shows s.t. to justify his call-up. He should be more than a match for that A-hole Avery, but I'd like to see more
  14. I hope that Garon does not start the "out of this world against my former team" shit that so many ex-habs seem to do. We really need to get a win :ghg::ghg::ghg:
  15. Worrell has an alcohol problem. He has several DWI convictions-- that's prob why nobody has picked him up. I'd like to see a little more of Ivanaas before we give up on him. Besides Avery is not heavyweight...I'd like to see Stevie B kick his ignorant ass
  16. Why would calgary give up two players??
  17. Name me an NHL GM who hasnt made a mistake. So far BG's seem to be of the minor variety. Let's hope this trend continues
  18. I agree Habs 1197. And what's with this knocking of Gerard Gallant? A coach changing lines... who woulda thunk it?? That's what they get paid to do: find the winning combination. Sometimes when the team is struggling because their best, or second-best player is missing, the coach juggles the lines more to try to find who will step up or to give the team a lift. Give Gallant a break. If they had Nash the CBJ would be winning a lot more. And if AK hadn't been hurt CJ would be winning more and not juggling the lines so much either
  19. I agree with M&K. I don't see the upside to this trade. You dont trade players when they are devalued unless you really have no choice.
  20. Dave, I thought of replying with all sorts of uncomplimentary remarks when I read the title of your post. BUT, everyone is entititled to their opinion What I will say is this: 1. Give your head a shake( sorry, I couldn't resist). 2. It is way too early for that kind of criticism. Gainey has put his stamp on the team, but it is early days in this process. 3. The D is improving. Markov is excellent, Rivet solid; Bullion solid; Komi improving; Dandenault, his fine defensive play and versatility make him invaluable; Souray ??? but I think he will turn it around. Streit is struggling. Maybe Gainey should have kept Hainsey, but he obviously didnt base his decision on the waiver rules but on his and CJ's evaluation of the players performance in camp. Perhaps that was a mistake. But, I like the idea of talent as the first determiner. 4. Nobody's perfect. The team is infinitely better than when BG took over. 5. I, for one, am confident that BG will make a deal to bolster the d when the right deal comes around and/or he determines that the present group has progressed as far as they are going to go 6. Keep the faith buddy. Every team has highs and lows. Les Boys will come out of this losing streak soon :ghg: [Edited on 2005/11/30 by PMAC]
  21. Thanks for the applause guys. I was just doing my little bit to support a great site. I mean those other guys got a whole article; I thought we deserved equal time. Bulis, I dont have any relatives in MTL that I know, but my paternal grandmother was French Canadian so it's certainly possible. MacLeod is a Gaelic name, both Irish and Scottish, with variable spellings although the Irish tend to drop the "a".
  22. I dont know which irritates me more: the fact that we lost a potentially good young player for nothing or the fact that we(or at least GG) have to pay for the privilege:mad:
  23. I emailed this is response to his article on online Habs fans(he referred to an "unknown" player people on that site were eager to get rid of): Dear Dave: That was a nice article, but I urge you to check out www.habsworld.net which I think is the premier Habs discussion site on the net and where most people don’t think they can do a better job than Bob, but are equally (for the most part) eager to get Daginais out of the line-up. From here in the UAE, Habsword, The Gazette and CJAD allow me to feed my Habs addiction. Regards Paul MacLeod Lecturer, The Petroleum Institute Abu Dhabi, UAE
  24. I did it. Abu Dhabi, where I live, is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. A week or so ago Dave Stubbs of the Gazette did an article on Online Habs fans. I thought that his leaving out HabsWorld was a glaring ommission, so I emailed him to give him my opinion, that any discussion of Habs fans on the Internet should include us. I thought, since he didn't reply, he was ignoring me but that must not be the case. I havent seen the article yet because I'm in the middle of a self-imposed media blackout. I'm going to watch a delayed broadcast of the Grey Cup(tonight, tues) and it has been torture trying to resist the temptation to peek Glad to hear that the Gazette is taking us Habs fans opinions seriously
