  1. I don't know why everything he does is scrutinized by the fan base as long as the team is winning. Many of his moves are head scratchers but you can't argue with success.
  2. I'm glad that it didn't go through.
  3. The answer to the thread question is no
  4. Wow. This is the reason we became buyers and not sellers at the deadline, despite the outcry of some.
  5. I guess we'll know more when it comes time, but he definitely seems like he could be a good fit. Big right handed snipers are hard to come by
  6. Source? Or did you just make that up?
  7. You have officially lost all credibility as a poster. All he has done this season is play the most minutes of anybody on the team and is on pace for 47 points and a +9 on a team that is second in it's division. I'd like to know your definition of effective.
  8. His numbers since he joined the Habs: 283 regular season games played, 91 goals, 163 points. Playoffs: 28 games, 12 goals, 21 points. He has averaged 26 goals per year over an 82 game season with us. He is the captain of this team and will likely resign at a reasonable amount. You don't want this player on your team without having to give anything up to get him?
  9. What is french for " no chance in hell " ? In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]
  10. We signed Briere for his veteran presence and playoff production. Gionta is our captain. Bourque, although is a piece of crap at times, is useful in the playoffs and can raise his game. What is wrong with Moen as long as he is on the fourth line or subs on the third every once in awhile? Gorges is our best shot blocker and will be important in the playoffs. Edmonton will laugh in our face if we offered Eller and Bournival for Yakupov. This team is in third place in a suspect Eastern Conference and it makes no sense to trade away vets while we are are gearing up for a playoff run. What exactly do you want to rebuild for in a couple years? To hopefully have a third place team that will have weak opponents in the first couple rounds? The mentality of some people baffles me.
  11. Anyway, back to the game thread. That was an exciting game and I'm happy we won
  12. Why be upset about something that hasn't happened yet?
  13. Welcome to today's NHL, I think you are stuck in the 70's. Most games are hard fought battles with the outcome being determined by "luck". Perhaps if you weren't the most negative poster in the history of the internet you would be happy about getting 2 points even though it wasn't 2 points the way you wanted. 4-3 in OT is still the same as a dominating 8-0 route. As long as he keeps winning, I think I will agree with whatever Therrien chooses over whatever it is a random fan says.
  14. Who cares who is playing? We won. Every coaching decision that he made during the game led up to the win. You can't do any better than getting two points and that's what we got.
  15. Okay then logically you can't say that this team loses because of coaching if coaching doesn't get credit for winning.
  16. Just read this thread after watching the game. I just want to point out everyone calling MT an idiot for various reasons but yet here we are getting the win.
  17. This thread is exactly what the title says. It's where you can post about all things good in Habs land and look at the glass half full instead of empty. It seems no matter where I turn there are always haters and some of them are so called fans. Whether it is on tv, message boards, blogs or at the water cooler, it seems like nobody has any faith in this group of players. Subban is overrated and only won the Norris in a shortened season, Price won the gold medal because the defense was so good and anybody could have been in net, Therrien is an idiot and everything he does is wrong, Bergevin should have done this or shouldn't have done that, Markov is old and slow and the never-ending smurf topic. Why can't people just be happy and cheer on their favorite team? Of course the ultimate goal is to win the Cup but you have to be realistic and realize that there are 30 teams with the same goal. This isn't the original 6 era or even pre-expansion during Bettman's tenure. There can only be one winner and even the very best team after 82 games isn't guaranteed to win. So why is it the end of the world if we don't go all the way? This is the entertainment industry and as long as we are, then that's all that matters. I have been very entertained the last decade or so. In the last 9 years, we have missed the playoffs only 2 times and one of them was down to the last game of the year. We have won the East twice in that span and made the Conference finals. There are only a handful of teams that have had more success in that time. So that brings me to the present time. The new regime comes in to a disaster of a team that finished last in the conference. All they do is win the division and continue this season right where they picked up. Here are the point totals of the league since the beginning of last season to right now: Points Chicago 161 Pittsburgh 156 Anaheim 155 St. Louis 144 Boston 141 San Jose 139 Montreal 136 LA 131 Toronto 128 Minnesota 128 NYR 125 Vancouver 125 Detroit 124 Washington 122 Colorado 120 Ottawa 119 Columbus 118 Phoenix 116 Philly 115 Winnipeg 115 Dallas 114 Tampa 111 NJ 111 NYI 109 Carolina 103 Nashville 103 Buffalo 93 Calgary 93 Edmonton 92 Florida 87 That looks fairly impressive to me and it seems like there are 20+ teams that would love to be where we are, yet we get zero respect. Not many teams can boast a Norris trophy winner not even in his prime, arguably the best goaltender in the world, a young perennial 30 goal scorer, a potential point per game 20 year old center and a stock pile of prospects, and hold our own draft picks in upcoming years. We have a really good team right now and no it is not perfect. Every team has weaknesses and can improve in some area but why not just enjoy what we have? All I hear is complaints about this group and it is not warranted at all. Despite all the negativity, all this team does is get points. Be happy with you what have, not unhappy with what you don't have.
  18. But it is that he is having a fine year and playing 25+ minutes/game that he should be paid accordingly. Nobody here knows what details and information are a part of the negotiations happening right now. But if he ends up signing a 3 or 4 year deal and intends on playing out the contract, why is it such a bad deal? He has proven his knee is as strong as ever. He still has his playmaking ability, vision and high hockey I.Q. Not to mention his leadership and commitment to this organization his entire career. He will still be an important piece once the youngsters are everyday NHLers.
  19. You are talking about one of the premier power play quarter backs in the league TODAY and you want to diminish his role? The same Markov that hasn't missed a game in two full calendar years? I must be missing something
  20. I don't want to see Tinordi traded at all, he is the type of dman we have been craving for years
  21. This is the perhaps the most logical post in this entire thread
  22. Anyone trading with us for Markov will not be in a position to give us better than a 17th overall pick, so I don't think he'll be looking for those. There's a case to be made for making nervy moves but the reality of the trading market has to be considered. That being said, if someone absolutely is desperate for what Markov brings for their playoff drive and is willing to knock our socks off, whether or not he pulls the trigger is what dictates where MB thinks this ship is sailing. But trading our number 2 defenseman and then having to try to replace him isn't going to happen anytime soon.
