  1. They may not have a number 1 this season... but Schultz (new one) will probably be that guy in a year or two. Plus Klefbolm, Smid, The other Schultz, Whitney and one of Fistric Petry Peckam Potter Sutton... Their D looks quite good in a year or two. Goaltending if Duby doesn't perform this season NEEDS to be addressed. But it won't hurt the team to give him one more season.
  2. Ended 6-3, same kinda game Canucks had against Anaheim, Detroit in their opener.... Note as well that Edmonton beat the Canucks in their previous game. This game is no indication that they need either new goal-tending or defense. Their defense isn't as bad as its made out to be.
  3. Even on the NHL comment threads, home of all sorts of atrocities, non habs fans are saying what he did makes sense and should be expected when you run a guy from behind.
  4. Wasn't DD playing overseas all of the lockout? He could just be having trouble readjusting to the size of the NHL'rs
  5. Having PK as our number 2 after Markov is a part in all our dreams I'm sure haha He really is wicked good on the PP! Especially tonight with Diaz on the point with him as a threat to shoot instead of Kaberle.
  6. What an amazing pass by Markov cross the ice, Galchenyuk did the right thing there as well. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME! Great deflection for his first goal!
  7. LETS SEE HOW MANY GUYS WE CAN GET IN THE BOX!
  8. I just saw Bourque made a great heads up pass across ice and then finished a hit! Best plays I've seen from here since he game
  9. Florida makes less sense then Toronto just because of that goalie prospect. Why have Lu's long contract when you have that guy sitting in the wings. They have both Jose and Clem who can be veteran backups and help show him the ropes, I mean unless they think they can make some kind of run right now... I just feel that Flordia's GM is a really smart man and won't want Lu's contact as well as Brian Campbell's restricting his ability to sign youth or continue to be aggressive via Free Agency.
  10. Coming up clutch can never be a bad thing
  11. So he just can't do faceoffs or something? Or were they trying to win him the puck each play?
  12. That is the most important part of the first 10 games. It is a short season so we can't be "finding" ourselves for too long but they need to at least look like a club soon and play some really hockey.
  13. I believe this is exactly what the management is doing. Only because it is montreal they need to ice a semi-competitive team just to keep their jobs. We have Price, we have d-men like Tinordi, Beau, PK, plus others, and beyond Max we have a nice young crop from the last draft in Gally(3rd overall), Hudon looks good, Collberg is starting to score overseas, and Gallagher has developed nicely as well. Along with Leblanc who I assume will be at least a serviceable 3rd liner if not 2nd line. We aren't that far away from being competitive we just need to be good enough to keep guys like PK, Max, Price, and solid vets like Georges or Prust to stick around.
  14. Tinordi was +1 on the night.. thats gotta count for something.
  15. For me big surprise will be Diaz or Gallagher. I just love these guys and think their play will be a lot better then most would expect. I also would say this because I don't think there will be a big surprise from anyone in the room. I believe Pleks and Gionta will have a better years but I don't think that would be a "surprise". If Eller improves considering how many people have picked him and his young age I can't say that would be a surprise either. The top line who well can't surprise us much more, Galchenyuk who as 3rd overall has highish expectations on him already, Armstrong probably will get hurt, Markov who was an allstar before he was injured and probably won't play as well so nothing surprising here, leaving guys like Moen, Bouillion, White, Kaberle have established games that won't really change. Edit: I forgot to mention Bourque, and well considering he had multiple 27 goal seasons a better year from him, as with the cases of Pleks and Gio, wouldn't be hard to imagine.
  16. Well there will be tons of compete on that line if nothing else.
  17. Don't mean to nit pick here but how is Diaz a bad signing? Cheap, NHL serviceable, no assets lost. Edit: I see commandant mentioned that too, I also don't know where this "Etc..." of bad signings are on the team. I didn't like the way the team was run under them either, but this is quick to judge... Bourque deal hasn't been determined yet, I mean he came into a terrible year can't expect him to play 110%, so I wouldn't throw that in bad at this point.
  18. I think Subban would have had a major impact on the game. Especially on the powerplay, Kaberle looked beyond useless out there and I was under the impression he forgot that he was supposed to keep the puck in front of the blue line on the powerplay. We needed to create more on the powerplay and while PK's shots may not hit the net people do make sure to keep him covered out there. This would open the ice up a lot more then Kaberle on the point who just startles the announcers when he actually shoots. And as habsretired said he would have helped the transition game. Which was dreadful. So many errant passes, at least PK can skate the puck through the neutral zone. All in all the trickling down effect of Subban in the lineup would be HUGE for the team.
  19. We lost the game with all our penalties. Seems Therrien missed the memo that Montreal took to many penalties last year A lot of work to do with this group, but the end of the game showed there is some promise.
  20. My friend showed that to me yesterday there are some good things if you look hard haha Edit: Like the little bit Visnovsky has on the left
  21. I dont think that can be qualified as greedy. It was for education wasn't it? For a career after hockey? I mean sure it wasnt team oriented but it was not a money grab by any stretch of the word.
  22. Take inspiration from the one on the canadiens.nhl.com site they made it right fancy this season
  23. The format is still locked out eh haha Very Happy to see this
