  1. Detroit is not a model of success. With all the talent he has drafted, he is still running a bottom feeder. Maybe not for long, but a bottom feeder none the less. Regardless of how much Mete practices his shot and dominates "lesser competition" (in the AHL?) He would be moved aside by Romanov, Harris, Norlinder, and even Chiarot. We will disagree on this one then. 🤼‍♀️ (wrestling the arguments) 🤼‍♀️
  2. Steve's article painted a bleak portrait of how the CH has handled Mete's development: http://www.habsworld.net/2020/06/victor-metes-development-and-contract-poorly-handled-by-habs/ I want to discuss it a bit further. Wouldn't it be fair to say that Mete, a 4th round pick in 2016, has found unexpected success early in his career and that he was opportunistic in forcing the Habs hand to keep him? He was a better defenceman than Alzner, Schlemko and Benn and later he showed to be better than Rielly and Olofsson. In my books, he has been a positive story in his short career. I do not see the downside
  3. thanks, I had not paid attention. I am still debating whether to go to the Ottawa rally or not. I don't feel like being in self isolation from my family for two weeks when I come back after the march. But I feel that it is so important to participate. #DontKnowWhatToDo
  4. He is not very good at expressing himself on this topic on social media. But I cannot find any fault with him: staying quiet is way worse. He'll gain maturity and hopefully he will also perform great on the ice. #RememberGeorgeFloyd
  5. Luke Henman wasn't signed by Carolina. He could be a try-out, if the Habs have their development camp
  6. I was going through list of invited players to CH combines that eventually were signed to AHL contract. 2012 looks interesting in hindsight: https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2012/6/12/3080735/montreal-canadiens-host-team-draft-combine
  7. Thanks for sharing this Commandant Good read!
  8. I would agree if we were a year ago (2019). At the end of that season it was clear Drouin was "pouting" and underperforming. On his exit interviews he acknowledge he was not good enough During the summer he worked a lot using video with his old coach. He did not that great during training camp, expectatuions where high But from the start of the season until he got hurt, he was delivering. His played was much better === that is why I am hopeful: despite the extra scrutiny of being a local french speaking player, he didn't crumble under the pressure but actually showed improvement. To me, that was very positive
  9. I think the CH is working really hard on molding Drouin into shape. He seems to be responding better than Galchenyuk, the Kostitsins and Beaulieu I am hopeful, but not blindly hopeful
  10. I do count on him, he _has_ to take Tatar’s spot as out 1st line LW at some point or the Habs are in trouble . There is little scoring from the wings on this team
  11. I disagree , before he got injured Drouin 2.0 was applying himself on back checking . He was much better. Armia is good too
  12. Why am I arguing 😜 Let's send Sid the Kid to the closest Tim Horton's this summer and spoil their cup run: Tatar-Danault-Gallagher Drouin-Domi-Armia Lehkonen-Suzuki-Byron Evans-Weal-Weise Poehling instead of Evans if that works better GoHabsGo !
  13. The Chicutimi Cucumber (and others) have made the point time and time again that the Habs should aim to build a deep talented team to become a perennial contender. Harris, Norlinder and the others may or may not pan out. We I read the article it got me thinking on how to replace the AHL-fillers we have on LD with more talented AHLers. I was hoping to push Olofsson, McEneny or Culkin out if Chisholm is an upgrade. I would love for the Habs to have to make a tough decision on which LD prospects to keep because we have too much talent.
  14. I wasn't sure if it was your article or not, great stuff @dlbalr ! Chisholm seems like an update on McEneny or Culkin who are up for re-signing their AHL contracts. Harris does not need to be signed until 2022 and Olofsson is not always healthy.
  15. Not yet, its the "Play ins" as per NHL
  16. I was looking at this "Full List Of 2020 Expiring Draft Rights": https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2020/05/full-list-of-2020-expiring-draft-rights.html I after going through all the players I was wondering if these would fit in Laval? Luke Henman (C drafted #96 in '18) 25g 74pts 63gms Declan Chisholm (LD drafted #150 in '18) 13g 69pts 69gms Alexis Gravel (Goalie drafted #162 in'18)
  17. I know that he is one of the three best centers right now, a 60-70 point capable center. That is clear. It just drives me nuts not knowing where he would fit under his next contract and I would not want to sour the relationship with the club by playing him at center now but tryin gto move him to wing later. Also, I do not care much about winning the Pittsburgh series. I actually hope we lose it, but that we solidify the team for years to come by starting to mold a cup contending team: putting the players into the "right" positions (and that is quoted because it is just MHO)
  18. I am ok loosing any of Fonstad, McShane or Houde if we sign Luke Henman (forward) or Declan Chisholm (left D) like they signed Teasdale. I only know what's available from old draft scouting reports and their latest stats, but they seem like better prospects worth of one of the 50 contract slots over those three prospects and any of Dauphin, Lucchini, Luchuk or Sturtz who are up for re-signing
  19. I hadn't thought it through like you TCC, you make a good point. Now that I think more about it, I would probably move Domi to the wing and ask him if he wants to stay with the CH as one of their top six wingers. Even if we will be short on centers for the play-in. Something close to this: Tatar-Danault-Gallagher Drouin-Suzuki-Domi (flipping wing sides if needed) Byron-Weal-Armia Lehkonen-Evans-Weise Poehling instead of Evans if that works better With Drouin and Domi on the wings, that second line should create some sparks. Suzuki is fine defensively and Drouin was playing much better this year. Domi should be as good as Kovalchuk was in his short stint, a bit faster offset by less commitment to D. My thinking is that a productive Domi on either wing has a future in Montreal; Domi at center will mean trading him or one of the prospects in 2-3 years.
  20. I am so glad the CH will e in the playoffs, It will give us a chance to see how Domi performs. I posted on the 2020 playoffs thread a line-up with Domi at center, but if Kotkaniemi was healthy I would move Domi to the wing during the playoffs like this: Tatar- Danault-Gallagher Drouin-Kotkaniemi-Armia Domi-Suzuki-Byron Lehkonen-Evans-Weal
