  1. also Norman Flynn was emphatic that they Habs better do not screw up Xhekaj's development. He made the point very strongly that now that they have sent Xhekaj to Laval to improve his game, the same logic should apply to others. I also agree with him on this.
  2. an interesting point on RDS today where they were saying that Montembeault i sstarting two games in a row because he deserved it. I think the comment was on MSL saying that and that now that he has said players earn their play time, that he has to apply it not only to goalies but to powerplay time, etc. I do not have the quote from MSL, but if we can believe that he said that then I agree with this view.
  3. it was a very uninspiring performance by the Rocket, they cam alive with about 5 minutes left in the game but looked like a te4am that had given up hope. The two bad goals to start the game may be an reason, their goaltenders have been horrible. Xhekaj looked rusted, but he played ok for a first game this season. I liked Gignac's line the most and also Simoneau. Kidney showed some good flashes.
  4. exactly, it is obvious to gauge the impact of Dach being injured. Savard’s absence has not been missed given the performance of the team
  5. I corrected this, look at my later post with link and quote I was mistaken
  6. They brought Alfie back in Sweden Now they are giving Jacques a senior advisory role it is a good thing for the Sens to reconnect with the past, those who made them successful. JM is from Easter Ontario, he has deep roots in the region.
  7. Hal Gill mentored PK but ran his term withthe Habs. I dislike how he plays goalie in front on the net, especially when he is caught out of position which was happening a lot early this season. He has value to the team, I agree, I just don't like that type of player. With everyone healthy next year, I do not see where he fits on the team as it is projecting. And the fact that he has missed so many games makes wonder if he is really missed.
  8. My mistake, I misunderstood what the article was saying, it was referrring to last year's : https://montrealhockeynow.com/2023/12/04/montreal-canadiens-players-on-the-radar-for-2024-world-juniors/
  9. But Savard, besides being old, doesn’t have any real qualities. He is like Hall Gill out there just flopping on the ice blocking shots. He gets injured blocking them
  10. Or an emergency replacement because someone is injured. I’ll post the quote when I find it
  11. but of course 🤩 Beck is invited 🤩 (although on an emergency call up from what I read) Let’s say I am happy 😊
  12. Let's hope, he has been hurt so often and for so long that he is not missed.
  13. if you are correct, that makes Savard expendable. That makes me happy, but I don;t want to twist what you are saying. Lindstrom has stabilized Matheson, his skating ability allows him to mesh well, maybe better that Kovacevic is able to. Kovacevic is an ideal 3rd-pair D for the Habs. Barron is working great with Guhle, the pair I was hoping to see eventually when Barron first played with the Habs.
  14. As a collective, we have watched enough games to be able to form an opinion on goalies instead of copping out with the voodoo argument Right now, Primeau is as inconsistent as Montembeault was when he was picked by the Habs. Combative, showing good athleticism and most of the time using good technique. But he needs to play lots and continue developing. The 3-goalie rotation is not helping
  15. we either trust the coach or we don’t. I still believe he is too green and that the media is to forgiving; but as a fan, I want to trust MSL knows enough to be right on his approach with Andy.
  16. here a demotion I didn't see coming. Luc Gelinas mentions it is a regular demotion, not a fitness/recovery assignment or a cap-management/administrative move
  17. if we want Anderson to get going, Monahan on a more offesive role should help. Evans may be there to help win more face-offs and to take on the defensive tasks to free the two others. I like it. Gallagher will play his game regardless of the linemates. Ylonen has been doing well on the 4th line, I like him and I think he may become as good as Lehkonen if coaches continue to work on his development. He is fast, has a great shot, and has shown more combativeness this season; if I remember correctly, he said gained more muscle during his off-season training to be stronger on board basttles.
  18. I am not a fan of Savard, I do not like how he plays goalie and flops on the ice when caught off-position - which is often. He blocks a lot of shots, but he is not my type of defenseman. I prefer how Guhle plays, hard on puck and shoulder to shoulder: physical but disciplined.
