  1. good analysis there is also the goalie situation where it is improbable they go with three goalies for a long period. Having a goalie coming in cold every so often may be detrimental to them. Unless Primeau becomes the de-facto practice goalie and the two others are played as a tandem and that they find their grove
  2. in my view, Armia and Gallagher are interchangeable players on what I expect their contribution to the team may be. Although they are very VERY different players on the ice, they are both overpaid and prone to injury.
  3. If they can do it for race horses, they can do it for hockey players. Specially with all the video and analysts. We could tell something was off with some players: shooting strength, stamina, skating, etc. A medical assessment could have been done despite what the players were saying.
  4. yes, exactly. That was stupid. Those two players are part of the future core, essential to the Habs success.
  5. I have them bottom 10 in the league and I hope they are in the draft lottery. I just don't want them to tank or to mange development or injuries as stupidly as last season: I hope they are competitive most nights, like Therrien's teams were
  6. I have not compared salaries, contract terms, age and injury history for those other goalies. I was just saying that, from the Habs perspective, it is more likely that Primeau is dealt rather that Montembeault, Allen or one of the PTOs at camp what I picked from the TBL may be too much, but I would see swap on cheap contracts where the contract coming back to MTL would be waiver excempt
  7. Martin was picked up by CBJ on waivers. Available goalies on waivers may never reach TBL Anaheim Ducks Columbus Blue Jackets Chicago Blackhawks San Jose Sharks Montreal Canadiens Arizona Coyotes Philadelphia Flyers Washington Capitals Detroit Red Wings St. Louis Blues Vancouver Canucks Ottawa Senators Pittsburgh Penguins Buffalo Sabres Nashville Predators Florida Panthers Calgary Flames New York Islanders Winnipeg Jets Tampa Bay Lightning
  8. nothing to write home about, but yet here they are:
  9. because other teams ahead of them on the waiver wire may screw them. If I remember correctly, it has happened that a team would pick someone on waivers to prevent one of their opponents from getting help
  10. Perry, Eric Stall looked washed up most of the regular seasons they played recently. They are complementary pieces for specific roles and limited minutes. I can see Armia being sent on a late game faceoff on the offensive zone by a team in the lead to keep the puck on the boards and get another faceoff to kill time. ... that type of thing that a team may need on their progress to the cup
  11. I do not disagree with you, but if I wa running a team with a chance to go for the cup and Armia was the missing piece in my lineup: I would take him and worry about trading him, or next year's cap, later
  12. they are stuck against the cap, with an ageing core and without their star goalie. I am sure there are better options from other teams, but from the Habs perspective, I wouldn't want themt to trade a valuable piece like Montembeault right now Allen is too expensive so, next in line is Primeau, isn't it?
  13. salary cap side, I think he would be great on a high scoring team that needs a big body along the boards to get the puck and to play defensively. On an EDM ot PIT 3rd line, he would be awesome and could play on a top-6 line when he is hot. but the salary cap gets in the way of a trade
  14. I feel somewhat similarly. He is a .890 goalie on a rebuilding team.
  15. I was thinking more of trading Primeau to TBL for either one of their long-term goalie prospects (Nick Malik) or a recent draft pick like Ethan Gauthier if we add a waivers-eligible borderline player like Mysak or Smilanic. Primeau could backup Johanson for a while and shelter Alnefelt from being rushed to the NHL.
  16. Armia on the top line, I dould not have said better: "He's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma that shoots four feet wide." — Marc Dumont
  17. and Ty Smith has not lived up to expectations based where he was drafted
  18. nothing much on the wire to kick off waivers this season:
  19. Love it. the take on Gignac is very interesting, and the note on Monahan answers my question. I have watched a game yet, waiting until the first cuts
  20. thanks for the update. How did Monahan look to you?
  21. that would be awesome! I like watching 67s games
  22. I don’t think I have mentioned how much I like Beck lately. Here is some love from others that share the feeling: https://montrealhockeynow.com/2023/09/27/montreal-canadiens-prospect-owen-beck-future-influenced-nhl-rule-ohl-agreement-laval-habs-transfer-agreement/
  23. but he is so good in "the room" 😜
