2018/19 Laval Rocket General Discussion Thread
Commandant replied to dlbalr's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
The Habs haven't said anything other than upper-body injury officially -
Yeah if Drouin is the guy out of the lineup, it absolutely should be Hudon in over d-lo
-
I don't want the years on the Lucic deal I'd rather a shorter deal like taking Callahan from Tampa for something good
-
Will there be trade deadline moves in 2019?
Commandant replied to xXx..CK..xXx's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I think he'll move Hudon but that will be it -

He may have been playing hurt or He may have taken some time to find chemistry on a new team Either way its a small sample I wouldn't be worried given his much larger sample in Owen Sound

The 2005-06 and 2006-07 Sabres were darn good teams. Every bit the powerhouse the Canucks were in 2010-11 and 2011-12, just with a conference final loss instead of a Stanley Cup final loss.
-
The way he's exceeded expectations and people didn't even expect him to make the team... I don't think we should have many concerns at all right now.
-
Yeah I'd move Suzuki and the 1st. I mean, if Suzuki becomes as good as Huberdeau is right now, that's almost best case scenario. And there is no guarantee he reaches that. If they want Suzuki, a 1st and more... then it would depend on what the more is.

The article you quoted has the Capitals asking for Lehkonen not Hudon

Gallagher hit 25 goals this year. Kotkaniemi hit 30 points Price is within 3 wins of plante. -
Fair enough, but I think if that is the ask, the Caps are overvaluing him.

Well thats a good start 3-0 -
I think Huberdeau would be expensive..... I think they'd want Suzuki, a First and probably one other piece. He's on a deal that has this season and 4 more at 5.9 million per season, which is down right cheap for a 25-year-old with 69 points last year, and 53 in 57 games this year.
-
That might work. Hudon for Burakovsky + sweetner. I'd want a sweetner for taking on their cap problem though. I wouldn't do it 1 for 1.
-
I think Huberdeau would be a good pickup. I have real questions about Hoffman, not on the ice, but off of it. We all know what happened in Ottawa last year. Now consider that here is a guy, who is signed for next season and is having a strong year in Florida, and they got him dirt cheap, and they are ready to move on 3/4 of the way through the year? That raises red flags, is there a problem here?

I haven't seen the line combos today. The fourth line is a guess. It could be Thompson and Deslauriers. -
The rumour was that the Caps offered Burakovsky for Lehkonen and the Habs said no. Burakovsky is likely to be a UFA this summer as no one will qualify him at over $3 million. I don't see us giving up Tatar for him... that makes no sense... and the Caps taking on Alzner makes no sense for Washington. The only thing that might work is if they want to trade us Burakovsky and a draft pick or prospect and we give them a crappy prospect and that clears them cap space to make another deal. Kinda like the the Mason/Armia and picks trade.

Stone is one of the league's best wingers. I'd love to have him. Scott is right though, summer is the time to go after him.
-
His shot is hard, and his release is quick. I question his accuracy. He puts a lot into the goalie's chest, or misses the net.
-
Buffalo was the worst team in the league last season. They have made strides this season. But no one should have expected them to go from 31st straight into the playoffs. Some teams have done that, but most teams don't. They've taken a step forward, now their goal will be to take another step forward next season. Mittelstadt, Dahlin have huge room for growth. Heck even guys like Eichel can still get better.

Ellis looked like a good prospect in junior. They are probably at the same level as 19 year olds. That does not mean they are meant for the same finish though, Ellis didn't develop in the AHL, Walford might (especially since our coaching is better). Walford is also a better skater which is big with the way the game has gone.
-
Walford picked up another assist last night. He now has nine goals and 44 points in 55 games. I think any questions as to whether or not he will be getting a contract offer this spring have been answered. The Habs have to sign him.
