  1. Tyszka 1g1a Brook 1a Walford 1g1a Suzuki 2a Fonstad 1g Primeau, 3-2 win, 2 goals on 21 shots
  2. When you pull Reilly and Peca from the lineup and add in Deslauriers, Chaput and Alzner, the overall team speed is going to be reduced.
  3. At this point they may need to re think the entire PP structure. Get innovative and work the setups down low and behind the net instead of the standard 1-3-1 that most teams are using. The way the Swiss set up their PP in the World Juniors was innovative and effective. We've also seen college teams going with this new setup. Things can't get any worse for the Habs doing standard things. Here is an interesting article on it. https://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/canucks-have-already-used-similar-tactics-to-switzerland-s-world-junior-power-play-1.23564814
  4. Suzuki 1g 1a in his first game with Guelph McShane 2g2a to get over a ppg on the season. Now 36 points in 35 games.
  5. Benn played that 2 on 1 about as bad as a defender can play a 2 on 1
  6. If we want a buy low candidate who could bounce back and is a Right Wing with size (and we'd also be dealing with a GM who is an idiot); I'd see what Jesse Puljujarvi would cost. The Oilers might be interested in moving him.
  7. Not the GOAT player, but the GOAT 3-point shooter for me.
  8. Two things 1) Detroit has no reason to make the move. They are rebuilding. They are not trading Mantha or draft picks for Petry. This is not a team to target in trading him. The only reason Detroit would make such a deal is discussed in #2. 2) That is not near enough value for Petry IMO. And there is no replacement on the blueline which makes the team significantly worse. Defencemen are also worth more than wingers. The only reason Detroit might make this deal is that it is so bad value wise, they could likely pull a San Jose/Hoffman and immediately flip Petry to a third team for a far better package than given up here. 3) Petry has played the toughest minutes on the team this season, considering he was matched against top lines when Weber was injured, thats not taken into account with your shot charts. You also don't look at what the Habs are generating with Petry on the ice. Much like the Drouin argument (and years of Subban arguments), hockey is a two-way game. If you generate more high danger chances than you give up, you are a valuable player, regardless of how many chances you give up. Its a ratio between the two. This is why purely defensive defencemen, who provide no offense are not valuable, they might prevent some shots, but generate nothing, leading to a net loss. A player who generates more than he gives up is far more valuable. 4) Looking at Jeff Petry, he has a Corsi of 55.1% and a relative Corsi of +1.8%, despite those tough minutes. His xGF% is 52.74, showing that more high danger chances are generated for the Habs than against them when he is on the ice, despite again playing tough minutes. His PDO is 96.92 indicating that he's been quite a bit unlucky in his results this season. The advanced stats show a defenceman who is on the borderline between a #1 and #2 defender for his team in the NHL.
  9. Good to get a win considering they faced some trying circumstances... tough travel after their flight was delayed. Minnesota faced similar circumstances and got blown out (granted Boston is better than Detroit). It might not have been pretty, but the two points is good. On to St. Louis now.
  10. There was a race to a loose puck with 5 minutes left where he blew by the Detroit defenceman, Cholowski, who also has good wheels. Its a short term slump right now... Something all goal scorers get, and the reason he's a 20 goal guy instead of a 50 goal guy, is his slumps are longer than the big scorers.
  11. He's on pace for another 20 goal season.... the contract is pretty low AAV wise. Lets not let a short cold streak change things on him.... Its as silly as the Petry hate last night was. There is no evidence that he's lost any speed at this point.
  12. I don't like him there, I didn't like Byron with those two either. The best chemistry seemed to be with Shaw, but you can't use him right now. So I guess they figure Armia is a grinder like Shaw.
  13. are you sure that goat curry doesn't refer to Greatest of All Time Steph Curry in the NBA?
  14. What statistics? Certainly not when you consider quality of competition, zone starts and xG%
  15. Another imperfect player, but one who can put up 60-70 points or even more if things go well. Yes, his defensive game isn't perfect and he's risky, but the guy can score, there is no way around that. This team is finally one that can score goals, but yet we continue to be obsessed with him not being a "two-way player". You need to score goals to win games and he's one guy who really helps drive the offense.
  16. Not true at all. Unless you think Reilly, Schlemko, Alzner, Mete, Benn, Kulak, are better defenders than Petry... which they are not. The only one clearly ahead of him is Weber.
  17. True with most players. He's like Subban-lite... in that there will be more good than bad, but the bad is really bad and stands out. Just like that situation, I think that Petry provides far more value than his occassional blunders.
  18. Chabot is a hell of a prospect, and a hell of an offensive defenceman. One of the best in the league. He's still young and learning though. His underlying stats show a very high event defender (even for the Sens whose defensive game is bad, he is one of the worst defensive defencemen in the league). I'm sure he'll get better as he grows, but if people are complaining about Petry, I wonder what they would say about Chabot.
  19. It was a bad play. One bad play does not change the fact that Petry has been a borderline #1 defenceman this season. Every defenceman in the league makes a bad turnover once in a while.
  20. This isn't fantasy hockey The waiver list in the NHL is based on the standings. (before November 1st its last year's standings). You don't move to the bottom of the list by making a claim
  21. A bit strange in that i figured theyd just send alzner down again. That said, schlemko is shit too... so not losing any sleep if he gets claimed
  22. Cole Fonstad with 1g 2a last night. He is now back over a PPG with 41 in 40 games He has 26 points in his last 16 games Brett Stapley (our 2018 7th rounder) with an assist last night... 13 points in 16 games as a freshman for Denver Allan McShane 2 goals today. He has 32 points in 34 games. McShane is on a 7 game point streak, with 12 points in that stretch
